“Zander saved the week by coming to my house and letting my frigid and frozen dog in the house, since my boy refuses to use the heated areas provided. Zander showed up on time, did what I asked, sent me a photo so I knew my boy wasn't going to turn into a popsicle and was on his way. We both appreciated the help and will chose Zander again when the need arises.”

“Samuel was wonderful as always! My new kitten really warmed up to him :) and he takes great care of my senior cat on medication every time. Samuel is my go -to sitter - always reliable and really good with animals:)”

About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life, and everyone who knows me knows I’m a true animal lover. I currently share my home with two English Bull Terriers and two mixed Dachshunds, so caring for dogs is simply part of my everyday routine. My dogs are family, and I treat every dog with the same love and attention I give my own. I’ve raised puppies and cared for pregnant dogs, which has given me experience with dogs in different stages of life and with different personalities and needs. One of my favorite things is taking dogs on adventures, playing with them, and enjoying the unconditional love they bring. There is something so special about the bond we share with our dogs, and I understand how important it is to trust someone with a beloved family member. When your dog is with me, they’ll be cared for by someone who genuinely loves animals and understands that pets aren’t just pets…they’re family. Pet care is already a big part of my daily life since I have my own dogs. My day naturally includes feeding, letting them out, walks, playtime, and making sure they’re comfortable and cared for throughout the day. I’m used to being attentive to their needs and adjusting my schedule around them. When caring for pets in my home or a client’s home, my main focus is making sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while keeping their normal routine as consistent as possible. I pay close attention to feeding schedules, potty breaks, walks, playtime, and any special instructions from the owner.
“AJ did a great job taking care of my cat Damon, taking care of the house and of him. I loved the daily photo updates and am very thankful for her attention and care. I would definitely recommend her to watch your pets!”

About: I grew up around dogs, starting with my dad raising and training hunting hounds when I was a kid. In my teens, I worked with sled dogs, deepening my understanding of training and care. Since 2013, I’ve been raising and training Chesapeake Bay Retrievers. Specializing in high-anxiety dogs and behavioral issues. I use balanced training methods tailored to each dog’s needs, helping them build confidence and trust. I believe quality pet care should be accessible and affordable, ensuring every dog gets the guidance and attention they deserve. Dogs are part of my everyday life—I run a family-operated kennel on our 9.5-acre farm, where training, exercise, and care are woven into my daily routine. From structured training sessions to supervised playtime and socialization, I ensure each dog gets the attention and guidance they need. I believe quality pet care should be accessible and affordable, making sure every dog has the chance to thrive. Safety is my top priority. Every dog in my care is monitored closely, whether during training sessions, supervised playtime, or rest periods. I have experience working with all breeds, from small companions to large working dogs, and I tailor my approach to each dog's needs. Trust is everything when it comes to your pet’s care. With over 15 years of hands-on experience, I use balanced training methods that build confidence while ensuring a positive, structured environment. I believe quality pet care should be accessible and affordable, making sure every dog has the chance to thrive. When your dog stays with me, they become part of the family.

“Heather was amazing watching my cats last minute! I had to leave town last minute, but she was able to come by that afternoon and meet my cats! She was in contact with me the entire time and it was such a relief to know my sweet cats were being looked after! Thank you so much Heather!”

About: I’ve lived in a home with a large dog since I was 13. I adopted my first dog 3 years ago and in that time I’ve completely turned him around; he’s learned reliable recall, how to walk on a lead, and has mastered close to 40 tricks! I’ve also worked in exotic animal husbandry and spent time training exotics which helped me learn a lot of skills I can apply to dogs! My work schedule is really variable, so no matter the hours you need your pet taken care of I may be able to help you out! I currently work full-time but the hours vary. I have no issue waking up early or staying up late to make sure your pets needs are met! I’m off every Saturday-Sunday so I have plenty of time to help care for anyone’s furry friends as needed! I’ll be sure to follow any specific safety instructions you leave. I’d be happy to take your dog out and for as many walks as you and they desire. They won’t be let off the leash unless specifically mentioned that it’s safe to do so, and I’ll use any and all safety equipment that you like (harness, prong collar etc). I feel comfortable crating dogs when left alone if that is preferred.

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
