“This was our first time having Patrick watch our dogs and stay at our home, and we couldn’t be more impressed. From the start, Patrick proved to be reliable, responsible, and genuinely caring. He took great care of our dogs—not just covering the basics, but making sure they were comfortable, happy, and sticking to their normal routine. It gave us a lot of confidence knowing they were in such good hands. He also did an outstanding job taking care of our home. Everything was kept clean, organized, and exactly how we left it. It’s not easy trusting someone in your space for the first time, but Patrick made it completely stress-free. Communication was excellent throughout. We received regular updates and photos, which made it easy to relax while we were away. For a first experience, this couldn’t have gone any better. We highly recommend Patrick and will absolutely be using him again in the future.”

“We really feel Megan couldn't have been any better at keeping us up on what our pups were doing & any concerns she may have had. We really will tell friends about Megan & how well she took care of our Girls (2 GSD's) We have thanked Megan repeatedly for being so kind. Thank you again Megan for everything”

“Natalie was honestly one of the best sitters I’ve ever had on Rover, hands down. She came to meet my fur babes twice before the stay, which immediately put me at ease. She’s just really thoughtful and has such a calm, natural way with animals, you can tell right away she knows what she’s doing and genuinely cares. While I was away, she kept me updated and everything felt easy and stress free the whole time. At one point I even had a perishable package delivered and she took care of it without me even asking, which just says a lot about how attentive she is. But honestly, the biggest thing is how much my pets liked her. That’s always the real test, and they were totally comfortable with her. I’d absolutely have her stay with them again in a heartbeat.”

“Sydney did a great job taking care of our cat while we were gone. She followed all the instructions we left and kept her company at night as well. She sent so many updates and pictures and was so accommodating!”

“Kaleigh always does great with Bailey. She keeps us up to date with photos and status reports. We don't worry when she's here. We are going to book her again for another trip this fall.”

“Our 13 and 14 y/o high-maintenance kitties were so delighted with Kristie's care. They took to her right away which is definitely not common. She communicated with us well and understood our action-packed kitty schedule. We felt at ease while we were away for a weekend trip with Kristie at the helm!”

“We could not have had a better experience working with Jarett. It was our first long trip away from Oliver, and he went above and beyond not only to make sure Oliver was taken care of, but that we were updated often. Thanks to Jarett, we were able to relax on vacation and come home to a happy pup and our house exactly as we left it.”

“Claire was wonderful and I highly recommend her! My dog needs some extra attention and Claire went above and beyond, would definitely have her house and dog sit again!!”

“Angel was the best sitter we could have asked for. They were great with Addie from the moment they met. We were able to really enjoy our weekend away knowing Addie was in great hands. 100% would book Angel again! Thanks again, Angel.”

“Sandy is wonderful! She goes above and beyond with our 14-month and 12-year old yellow Labrador retrievers, and lets them cuddle with her all night on the bed - thank you for sacrificing sound-sleep time so they are happy :)”
About: I have been petsitting since I was in 7th grade (for walkable neighbors until I could drive!). I have experience taking care of and giving medication to young and old dogs and cats (pills and ear/eyedrops). I’ve watched senior dogs and puppies just a few weeks old. I have an especially good way with cats (especially skittish or standoffish ones) but I have plenty of experience with both. I have been called a cat whisperer more than once in life! And while I hope I don’t need to demonstrate this skill for you, I have done more than my share of flea baths on cats and dogs. I’ve been vegetarian 8 years and animals have always been my favorite thing about life. I work Mon-Fri from 8am-12pm, so I have almost my entire day and weekends to spend time petsitting. After that my only other obligation is petsitting! I am able to come by your house however many times a day you see fit, and I always love to just hang out with your pets for a little while to keep them company while you are gone! I am willing to do walks, baths, or just chill out depending on what your pet and your schedule is usually like. Since my other job is done so early in the day, I am able to stop by as often as you’d like.
“Sage is an exceptional sitter, and goes above and beyond when caring for your pets/home! We can be really anxious about leaving our pets when we travel, but this was the most at ease we have ever felt. Not once did we worry about our cats/dog while away. Sage provided us photos and daily updates, letting us know how each pet was doing. Our pets had excellent care and plenty of quality time. Not only did we come home to safe, happy animals (most importantly), we also came home to a really clean house! Sage helped with a number of house tasks (from taking out trash, picking up waste in the backyard, laundry, and more). We really could not have asked for a better sitter, and will definitely be hiring Sage again in the future.”

“Salem was an amazing choice! It was my first time having someone stay in the house to care for my pets. But he put me completely at ease. Took such good care of the babies. We have pretty specific care instructions, and he followed them to a T. He spent so much time with them. He was very communicative. He left the house immaculate. I would 10/10 use him again. If you're looking for a trustworthy amazing sitter for your pets! Salem is your person!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of September 2026, there are 1,442 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Elrama. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Elrama walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Elrama maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Elrama choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Elrama. On Rover:

- 91% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
