“Kessia is great! She is very prompt to respond and updated us with pictures. Clearly our animals loved her as they were always right next to if not sitting on her! Had her do a one night stay and will have her back when we go on vacation!”

“Janet was very accommodating, easy going, and punctual. Our dog (Taro) opened up to her very quickly. My wife and I felt like Taro was in great hands while we were away for a few days. Highly recommend Janet.”

“Korah is AMAZING, we’ve had her stay with Theo multiple times and each time I think he’s more excited to see her walk in the door. She’s always so caring and thoughtful! This time there were storms and she kept him calm and comforted which gave us so much relief knowing he was so well cared for. I cannot recommend Korah enough!”

“Desiree was so good to my girl Maxine! Great communication and this girl obviously loves dogs and is so good with them! Thank you Desiree for making my weekend away worry free! ❤️”

“Taryn did a great job watching Ari who has separation anxiety and can’t be left alone. The event I was at ran past the expected time and she stayed with him past when I was supposed to get back which helped immensely. Ari enjoyed her company and kept calm while I was out.”

“Savannah was absolutely awesome with our dog! Her communication leading up to the stay, along with check-ins was wonderful. I never worried as I knew Shandy was well taken care of. On top of doing a great job with Shandy she went over and beyond to clean, wash bedding/towels and pick-up, which was not expected but very much appreciated. Thank you so much Savannah for taking such great care of Shandy and our home while we were away. It truly means the world as we didn't have to worry at all. Look forward to next time! Thanks again :)”

“Celeste was absolutely amazing with our fur baby Teddy. He required medication twice a day, and she was able to provide him with that. She sent me pictures and let me know what was going on and it meant the world to me. I would absolutely recommend her if you want to have a very responsible, sweet and caring young lady to take care of your fur babies!!”

About: Even at a young age, I am very trusted by friends, family, and my community. I have spent countless hours with all breeds, sizes, and ages. Dogs have always had a special place in my heart and I cherish each old and new relationship! I am blessed to still have my 12 year old red fox lab in my life, so I take care of her daily. I have many loved ones who sometimes need help caring for their pets and I am always first on their list to contact. I love to be outside and partaking in physical activity, so I would love to provide a service for walking/exercising your pets! When clients communicate with me how they want me to meet their dogs needs, I will do everything I can to meet that expectation!

About: I have several years of experience caring for dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to sweet seniors. Ive dealt with multiple dogs at once, all with different personalities. From shy, energetic, to reactive. I have done everything from daily walks, to overnight stays for clients. Handling the different routines. Another plus is that I grew up fostering dogs, so I have experience with a lot of different breeds creating a very patient and observant demeanor. I am currently working part-time and looking for some extra work. My availability is pretty flexible as long as you are as well! I can either do stop by's for walks once a day, or a multiple day care schedule, with 2-4 hours of being out of the house. I'd love to chat and work something out! When I’m caring for pets in their own home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and stress-free as possible. I follow your instructions closely — feeding schedules, walk times, medications, crate routines, and any house rules. I always make sure pets have fresh water, plenty of bathroom breaks, and safe, supervised time outside. I spend quality time with each pet, whether that means playing, training practice, gentle cuddles, or just giving them company so they don’t feel alone. It is all about respect and I respect your home also respect your home, treating your space the same way I’d want mine treated.
About: Hello! Im Andrea. I Love animals of all kinds, shapes and sizes. Ive had pets my entire life cats, dogs reptiles, amphibians, small mammals. I have always been around animals and was taught from a young age that animals are an important part of our world and good for your soul. Id be happy to spend some time with your furry family member while you are away for a couple days or just need someone to check in on them while you're at work. I love going for long walks and would be delighted to take your best friend with me! I have to admit I have a soft spot for the bigger guys but definitely don't mind the tiny pooches. Hope to meet your fur baby soon! I love walking, going to the dog park and being outside. I try to make this part of my daily routine for my own dog and wouldn't mind adding a few more companions to the adventure. I currently work evenings but dont mind late night walks after work. I realize everyone has their own routine for their fur baby so I'll stick to that as closely as possible. I genuinely love animals and enjoy spending time with them.
About: Aside from having a dog and two cats in my family home, I have walked dogs, pet sat, completed check-ins for both cats and dogs, and even have experience in extended stays! I am a busy college student looking to lighten the loads of pet-owners in my area! For the time being, I will primarily be available for check-ins and shorter walks due to my availability :) I love walking the neighborhoods of Menomonie, and exploring the many beautiful parks and water locations around! I have a car to transport dogs to parks if need be, otherwise I am always cautious of other animals when out, and make sure to keep our distance, just in case :)
About: I have worked for roughly two years dog sitting for friends and family. Typically these have been in my own home - occasionally overnight. I have a fenced in back yard for my 3 dogs & 2 cats so I have experience with both :) I have complete availability currently, so my dog at home gets quite a lot of walks and park time. If possible, i also try to socialize him with people each day. Typically I take my dog to the dog park in the evening with a long walk in the morning. This works best for my dogs energy levels, but each dog is different. I am also trying to socialize my dog in public as he is a bit scared of humans so we try to hit some breweries here and there.

“Christine did a wonderful job house sitting with our Poodles & Yorkies - & horses!!! She sent frequent pictures of everyone lounging on her lap or playing around the house! This was a last minute booking as our trip plans were suddenly changed & we were going out of the country! It was reassuring to have an experience, mature person caring for our special “kids”! Thank you, Christine!”
About: I’ve had pets my whole life, I’ve worked with seniors and puppies and everything in between! I’ve also worked at a doggy daycare and have done lots of grooming for both cats and dogs! I am available night and day! I am easy to reach and am ready to come at any time! I am a stay at home cat mom! I have 2 cats of my own, I give them the best nutrition and brain stimulation! I am constantly researching the best for both cats and dogs!
“just got home and dogs are happy and house looks great. got photos and notes while we were gone. Ellen met us before we left and she was very sweet. good match for our sweet dogs. Highly recommend Ellen.”

About: They say to do what you love and make a career out of it. I’m just grateful my career gets to be with dogs. I currently work at a doggy daycare/boarding facility in the area, so I am certified with dog and cat behaviors and have seen the ups and downs of our fur babies, and I am still standing here happy to tell you all about their stay/session. I have also grown up with working farm dogs and have gone on to own a Great Pyrenees who isn’t quite a working dog but sure does “work” like one. Thank you for reading through my short history and I am super excited to update this with my accomplishments to come! Pet care for me starts at dawn lol My pups come for cuddles and a potty break first sight of my eyes opening. Most of the time this does align with my schedule in the 6 am timeframe. Our family does always thankfully have one person home at all times, so while kennels are still utilized in our home for various situations, your pups can expect to stay in a home environment while here :) While I personally do not have a yard, my family does own large pasture fields and hills that we will typically walk daily. These colder seasons do affect how often we go out due to the snow and unplowed hills. However in that safe weather we make it a main priority to keep active with our pups to maintain a healthy and long life for them. Safety is priority number one. Thankfully my family is pretty much set up for success here. We are knowledgeable for food, behavior, and play safety with dogs and cats. Signs and symptoms of common issues with dogs and cats, based off personal experiences, and possible fears of what ifs, urinary cat blockages and bloat, or bloody stools. And while I understand dog body language and know how to avoid those tense situations dogs can create, I am incredibly quick to say when we are going to the emergency vet, gosh forbid.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 164 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Downsville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Downsville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Downsville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Downsville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Downsville. On Rover:

- 92% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
