“Jessica did an excellent job dropping in to watch our energetic dog. It is immediately clear that she treats your pet as her own. She walked, played fetch, and provided lots of updates with each visit. She even stuck around to comfort our dog during a storm. She also dropped in to check on my mother's cat as well. I will absolutely book Jessica again.”

“Hannah was wonderful with our dog. She had great communication and she also was able to come last minute when our other sitter canceled. I will definitely be requesting her again!”

“Leah took great care of our cat! We were away for a short weekend and just needed someone to pop in the feed her. She was always on time and kept us updated with pictures. We would definitely book her for future cat-sitting needs!!”

“Always have a great experience. I travel at very strange times often with about 3 hours notice. Never had an issue with response time, ability to come by or treatment of my sweet Zoe girl. Thank you!”
“Rosie was quickly responsive to my last minute request, was prompt, sent pictures, and communicated a concern that helped make her care the best for our Natty. Thank you, Rosie!”

“Jordan has become our go to for taking care of our girls. I honestly feel like they enjoy it when we leave now cause they get time w their back up human. As always, Thank you Jordan!”

“Caitlin was amazing with my cats while I was gone! She provided me with thorough updates and silly pictures. She definitely made me feel a lot better about leaving them home alone for the first time. I’ll definitely see if she is available again in the future the next time I go on a trip :) thank you, Caitlin!!”

About: I have fostered cats, dogs, puppies and kittens for as long as I can remember! I have pets of my own and will always love taking care of them. I have a kitty of my own who is about to be 1! He deals with a lot of health issues and I take joy in keeping him healthy and safe every day. My cats comfort and happiness is always my first priority. I want to make sure he is comfortable and getting all the exercise, care, and attention he needs!
About: I’m already someone who loves being home, going on peaceful walks, and keeping things cozy, so adding a furry friend to the mix just makes everything better. I treat pets like little VIP guests and I make sure they get plenty of attention, affection, and a routine that feels calm and predictable for them. I always try to match whatever your pet is used to so they feel safe and comfortable. If I’m watching your pet in your home, I keep their routine exactly how you have it. They will have their meals on time, daily walks, play breaks, and plenty of cuddles. I’m very detail-oriented, so I pay attention to the small things like their favorite toy, how they like to be greeted, or where they prefer to nap. If I’m caring for them in my home, they get a clean, cozy environment, lots of love, and a peaceful space to relax. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, or somewhere in between, I adjust to what makes them feel happiest. I genuinely treat every pet like they’re my own and give them spoiled-in-a-good-way kind of love. I’m patient, observant, and good with pets who may be a little shy or anxious. I have a patient personality and animals tend to trust me quickly. I’m also extremely reliable and communicative, so you’ll always know how your pet is doing. I’ve cared for a variety of pets from rambunctious puppies to senior dogs. I tailor my care to each pet’s personality and needs.
About: I absolutely love all animals!! I have a Beagle that is great with other dogs and children! I work from home and have a large fenced yard that dogs love! I am ready and available to host your pups for overnight needs or come walk your dog(s) so that you can focus on other needs! If I host your dog overnight, I prefer a housetrained pup but am flexible with that. Expect lots of pictures while your furry family member is here ! I work from home so will be home throughout the day, with the exception of short errands runs. If your pupper needs a crate, please feel free to bring one! Large fenced yard for lots of outdoor time. I have dog beds throughout the house for sleeping, and dogs beds outside for lounging and sunbathing!
“Amazing dog sitter!! Emilie kept us updated at every visit with our dogs. She really went above and beyond for our dogs and we can't thank her enough for all that she did while we were away. Also, the pictures were so great to receive. Thanks again for putting our worries at ease. Would definitely recommend her and rebook with her!”

About: I have had animals since I was born. I’ve taken care of. Animals ranging from snakes to rats to fish. I now have six dogs, a cat and some fish. Because I am a college student, I have gotten the opportunity to work with Fidos for freedom a nonprofit which helps train service animals to go to people in need. I have learned commands and how to train dogs to understand those commands and I am now helping to raise two puppies. I have older dogs as well as younger ones and tend to give my senior dogs more love then the puppies because I know they need it (the pups get all kinds of attention). I am a college student coming home for the winter break and I am looking for something to help spend my time before I go back to school. I will be able to take care of any animal as much as I can. I am home from school and I am looking forward to see all kinds of cute animals. I have my own vehicle that I am willing to take any animal in no matter the size or fur. I know how to take pets for walks and the signs of when they go out. If the house has a fenced in yard I make sure to keep and eye on the dog(s) just incase there is a prison break.
About: I have had pets of my own, and I have cared for others' since my teens. I treat them like family because they are family. I have daytime employment, so evenings and weekends are available for walks, playtimes, etc. I can house sit overnights if needed. Please give notice as soon as possible. I'm happy to help your pet stay in their own home and be comfortable. Many pets become anxious when their people leave. Having a companion is helpful.
About: Currently I have 2 dogs that are my little fur babies! I grew up working for my parents dog kennel for boarding and grooming which I've helped work at for many years. My parents also bred and showed specific dog breeds; therefore I am comfortable with dogs of all ages. I have experience walking, feeding, playing, grooming, and training all types of dogs. I've experienced many litters of puppies and helped out as they grew to full size adult dogs. I enjoy being around dogs and know how to handle most situations that you could think of. I'm very knowledgable and have also shown dogs in dog shows. If you are looking for a patient and responsible dog sitter I would love to meet your dog and help out with whatever types of things you would like to be done. Thank you again for your consideration. I am a teacher in St.Mary’s county; therefore I am not home during the hours of 7-5 during the school year; however, I am off during most government holidays. I try to keep the routines and schedules that you have set for your pet while I am watching them. I do have a fenced in yard at my home; however, I am comfortable with walking your pet as well.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Dowell
Caitlyn was a phenomenal sitter for my boys! I knew she was kind with animals from the start—my cat let her rub his belly immediately during the meet-and-greet 😊 She went out of her way for me several times in two days. When I was nervous that I hadn’t seen one of my cats on a camera, she rushed over to check on them before she was scheduled to. Her responsiveness is SO appreciated. My cats were in safe hands with Caitlyn and I will definitely be booking with her in the future! 🙏🏼

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dowell. On Rover:
- 95% of sitters can help with special care needs

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
