“Joanna did a great job!! She was very communicative. She sent pictures of the pets regularly, followed all directions left, reached out with any questions, and left the house tidy upon the end of the service. She even came over a week before to meet the pets and familiarize herself with the location of foods and treats! Very thankful for her work!”

“This was my second time booking with Lauran, and once again she was absolutely wonderful! Having someone I can trust with my two cats gives me so much peace of mind while we're away. She kept me updated with photos and messages, made sure my cats were well cared for, and even managed to earn the trust of my very shy cat, which says a lot! It's clear she genuinely cares about the animals she looks after and goes above and beyond to make sure they're comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring pet sitter!”

“Janae did a great job with our pups. She was communicative and easy to work with. We received numerous pictures and updates throughout the day. I would highly recommend her in the future.”

“Ross was great! We requested a meet and greet before we set up an appointment and he was more than happy to come to the house a month ahead of time and meet our dogs. Our dogs welcomed him like he was one of the family. We knew then it was going to be a good match. Ross was outstanding when it came to communication. We were getting a little worried a few days before our vacation as we had some plans fall through with previous pet sitters. Then I received a text from Ross the following day just following up on what we needed from him. He did daily check ins with us and sent us a picture each day of our puppies. I remember saying on our last day of vacation - that I never felt so relaxed on a vacation because I for once didn’t have to worry about my dogs while I was gone. If we go on vacation, we would love for Ross to come to the house again - but if not able to - we surely hope the next person meets the standards he set in place. Thank you Ross!”

“Sophie watched our 2 dogs and 2 cats while we were out of town, and was phenomenal! She was very communicative, and our animals loved her! It alleviates the stress of leaving when you know the animals and house are being taken care of. We would (and will) absolutely use her again!”

“Gabriella is by far the best dog and house sitter we've had. After several disappointing experiences with other sitters, we had honestly started to lose hope. From the beginning, she was professional, reliable, and easy to communicate with. She arrived on time, followed all of our instructions for our dog, and it was clear she genuinely cared about doing a good job. We came home to a happy dog and a spotless house. We wouldn't hesitate to hire her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy sitter.”

“Katie was a perfect caretaker for our dogs while we were away getting married. She eased my worries about leaving the dogs alone for the first time with someone that wasn’t family. She gave us detailed updates every day. We will definitely use her services again and we highly recommend her to take care of your pets!”

“Amber is doing a great job taking care of our two dogs and our home. I have used her twice already and now booking for a third time. She’s pleasant, sends pics, quick to respond, follows directions, and my dogs seem well cared for when I return.”

“Booked Stephie last minute and she was super flexible for us when we needed it most! Our sweet girl Chica was taken care of and able to stay in the comfort of her own home. We will definitely be keeping her in mind for future bookings!”

“As always, Jessie has done an amazing job watching our pups/cat! We received pictures at least two times a day and all the animals looked like they were having a great time. We couldn’t be more grateful.”

“Olivia was great!! Great communication, sent pictures and videos of our pup and was so helpful with our last minute booking. Will definitely be booking again for future needs, highly recommend to anyone searching for a sitter.”

“I couldn’t have asked for anyone better than Kaitlyn. She was communicative, kept us up to date on the animals, sent pics, kept the house cleaner than I do, and the animals are relaxed and happy after our absence. It will be so much easier leaving them next time as long as we have Kaitlyn!”

About: I own my own dog, who is well trained, along with caring for neighbors dogs, and training. I have puppy sat on my own home for multiple nights. In my free time I watch a lot of dog training videos and love to do animal research. I enjoy cats while I do have limited experience. I am a full time college student however, I have my evenings free on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and weekends work great for me as well. I love training and I am extremely passionate about animals research so I love to learn more. I am detail oriented, and I have a dog of my own and have pet sat before so I have experience. I am really good with communication and respond frequently and in a timely manner, and I am relatively flexible with timing if need be.

“We love having Tabitha watch our elderly pup. She is fantastic with her and even more importantly, she tolerates our little set in her ways “Grandma”! Tabitha is the best!”

“This was the first time that I used a service of this kind. And, I was so happy with how it turned out. From the time that I dropped Norie off at Meghan's house, I knew she would be fine there! Her house is clean (even with dogs around!) and she sent multiple pictures to me during her stay showing that Norie was very comfortable in her house! Thank you, Meg for the peace of mind!”

“I highly recommend Emmelea! This was our first time using her for an overnight stay, and she exceeded all expectations. Her communication was top-notch; we received regular updates and so many cute pictures that showed how happy and well-cared-for our pup was. She truly treated him like her own. We feel so lucky to have found her and will 100% book with her again!”

“Emily is an absolute pro! Kind hearted, considerate and our pets loved her! Outstanding communicator, sharing many photos and updates. She’s very tidy and was kind to our home. She’s really good with animals and is just a great person. Highly recommend!”

“Thank you Jared for taking such good care of Beau for the day. I really appreciate you taking this at last minute. I am sure he enjoyed his day with you! Hope to have you back again sometime!”

Elizabeth stayed with our beagle Lilly for 2 nights and a full day. This was the first time we have left her. She is a rescue of having her 3 months. Elizabeth was very calm and attentive to Lilly. We felt confident leaving Lilly in her care. She will be back again soon. Lilly will be looking forward to seeing her again

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Douglass Hills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Douglass Hills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Douglass Hills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Douglass Hills. On Rover:
- 96% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 99% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
