Heather was absolutely amazing from her meet & greet many months ago to the end of her stay last week. Our sassy senior poodle can be a little grouchy & a picky eater, but he warmed up to her so quickly. She followed all instructions for his care and the care of our home perfectly and then some - she really went above & beyond. Her updates and photos were super cute & made us feel at ease. We returned to everything just as we had left it, and most importantly, a very happy dog. Thanks Heather!!

About: Hi! I’m a dependable and caring animal lover who has been around dogs my whole life. I grew up with a yellow lab, so I’m very familiar with the daily routines, energy, and love that dogs need. Since then, I’ve also spent a lot of time around friends’ and family members’ dogs, helping out with walks, playtime, feeding, and giving them attention. I work full-time as a nurse, but my schedule is only three days a week, which gives me four full days during the week and weekends to dedicate to pet care. On my days off, I have the time and flexibility to provide reliable walks, drop-ins, playtime, and lots of attention to make sure your dog feels comfortable and cared for. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I live in a townhome complex, so I believe the best setup is caring for dogs in their own familiar environment through drop-in visits or picking them up for walks throughout the day. This allows your dog to stay in their normal routine while getting safe, attentive, and loving care.

About: I have been taking care of animals for as long as I can remember! I’ve also had the privilege of working at a doggy daycare/boarding business for several summers, where I absolutely loved caring for clients’ pets. I’ve worked with dogs of all ages—from playful puppies to sweet senior pups. If you have concerns about a senior dog, don’t worry—I’m very comfortable following specific schedules, administering routines, and making sure they feel safe and cared for. I treat every pet like they’re my own, with patience, love, and attention to their unique needs. Whether your dog needs lots of playtime or a calm, gentle companion, I’m happy to provide a safe and comfortable experience while you’re away. I’ll also keep you updated with messages and photos so you can feel at ease knowing your pet is in good hands. I can’t wait to meet you and your furry friend!!! I have a very flexible schedule and am available most days of the week. I’m typically available Monday through Friday at any time, and I can accommodate a variety of routines and needs. While I prefer weekdays, I may be able to help on weekends with advance notice I always prioritize your pet’s safety, comfort, and routine. In your home, I make sure to follow all instructions closely whether that’s feeding schedules, medication, walk routines, or any specific care your pet needs. I take the time to learn each pet’s personality so they feel safe and relaxed while you’re away. I keep a clean and secure environment, making sure doors, gates, and leashes are always properly handled. During walks, I stay alert and avoid unsafe situations to keep your pet protected.

Autumn did fantastic staying in my home with my dog and cat! She was on time, checked in with me, sent lots of pics, and was very responsive the entire time. I felt comfortable with her taking care of my house and pets. My cat got her medication as needed and my dog got plenty of walks and attention. I booked her again shortly after the first stay. About: I work in animal rescue and have personally cared for over 1000 different animals! Not only am I able to do regular pet care, I can also administer many different types of medication and am confident with shy or nervous animals. I am self employed, so I have a flexible schedule when needed. I currently have Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays wide open. I also have afternoon availability Saturdays and Sundays. I can almost always squeeze in an evening visit. I cannot currently board animals in my home, as I’m at capacity with 5 cats, some of which are nervous around new animals. However, I am able to visit or stay in your home. I am polite, neat, and am more than happy to clean any potential pet messes!

I cannot recommend Katlyn enough! She took such amazing care of my dogs while we were away. From the moment we met at the meet and greet, I felt completely comfortable leaving them in her hands. She brought a notebook to take notes and was very thorough in the interview process. She was reliable, attentive, and made sure they had everything they needed—walks, playtime, snuggles, and lots of love. She also kept me updated with pictures and messages, which gave me so much peace of mind. My pups were happy, relaxed, and clearly adored her. I’m so grateful to have found her and will absolutely book again with Katlyn!

About: I’ve always been a dog lover and both me and brother rescued a 6 year old white Labrador named “Zorro” who we brought before Covid began. We love him so much and since I moved countries he now lives with my parents in India. I wear a paw on my necklace which is a memory that he is not far away and will always take care of my parents behind me. Zorro now sits on the dinner table and enjoys all family meals. As someone with medical training and a responsible active lifestyle, I am calm under pressure, highly dependable and attentive to routines, medications, special care needs and feeding schedule. Whether your pet is playful or prefer quiet companionship I’m happy to adapt to their personality and needs. Looking forward to meeting you and your furry family 🐾 I’m currently very flexible with my schedule until June 15th as I recently relocated to Pittsburgh to start my residency training. I will be able to work around a time and a schedule post June and will be open to taking care of your pet as per your need and happy to coordinate a schedule with you with my availability. I live in an apartment with my spouse who has grown up all around dogs as pets since he was a kid so we both love dogs but don’t have one of our own currently. Your pet is allowed on our sofa and enjoy the area of a one bedroom. If I am at your home, I will aim to make your pet feel as comfortable and stress free as possible while the owner is way by keeping a normal routine in their own home environment. I will carefully follow your instructions and communication is very important to me, so I can provide regular updates , photos and check-in to help the owner feel reassured. As someone with a medical background I am very attentive to details and safety.

If you need a house/dog sitter, look no further! Lauren was absolutely awesome. We have a 100lb Doberman who is very sweet but he is high energy and can be a lot to handle for people not used to large high energy dogs. Lauren took care of him with no issues at all while staying at our house for 5 nights. She gave him regular walks and spent a ton of time with him. She also was great at sending pictures and updates. Finally, she took great care of our house and respected our rules. She was great all around!

Lyla went above and beyond for our two dogs (mini poodle and pitbull mix) while we were away for a long weekend. She came to meet them a few days before we left and took them on a walk so they could acclimate to her. She kept us updated with messages and pictures, took them on two walks per day, did tricks with them, and kept them safe and entertained the whole weekend. We'll absolutely be booking with her again!!

FAQs for House Sitting - Dorseyville

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 1,479 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Dorseyville. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Dorseyville walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Dorseyville maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Dorseyville choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Dorseyville. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 91% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
