Jessica took great care of our two dogs (one of which is a puppy and requires some extra eyeballs!). She gave them lots of exercise - walks and swims and tug-of-war etc - and paid special attention to the extreme heat this weekend. She also cleaned paws and kept things tidy and loved on them lots. Jessica sent photos and updates so we knew they were in good hands. Thanks for the good care, Jessica. Would love to book again!

About: Our family dog gets lots of attention, walks, and play time and that's how yours will be treated too. We are an hour from Jackson, located in tetonia Idaho. We've always enjoyed having pets in the home, caring for an aging dog, a puppy, and other animals. We live on a safe, quiet street with a large yard. Our family hopes to welcome your dog into our home and take good care of them while they are here. We all are dog lovers here and think canines are the best pets around! Thanks for considering us. One of us is always home. I take care of the dogs along with my 19 year old daughter who helps message as well. We go on lots of walks, and are also totally fine chilling at home if that’s what your pup prefers! We have one dog who likes to go on walks with the dogs we are watching but isn’t especially playful with other dogs. We can separate or crate dogs easily when we’re away or at night.

About: Hello! My name is Halle and I have an endless love for animals. Neighbors, friends and family have relied on me to walk, feed and bathe their pets. I love getting to know your pets and treating them like my own. I cant wait to meet your furry best friend. I have a very open schedule and i'm only working a part time job so I can make sure that I can fit pet care into my schedule. How I care for pets in my home is by providing a fenced in yard for your pup to play in, and following the provided instructions the owner has given me. No other pets currently live here.

About: Happy to walk dogs during the day or at your home overnight. We are great with animals and love to take them on walks and play ball together. Long or short walks depending on how much exercise the dog wants is right up my alley. I work part time a few nights a week. Braylon also loves to walk and play with dogs alongside of myself. He truely has a love for dogs and dogs love him right back. We are not currently accepting dog sitting jobs at our home however we will happily watch the dogs at the owners home and/or take the dogs for daily walks.

Moriah hung out with our mini goldendoodle while we toured Grand Teton National Park. She was great with our dog and took him on an off leash adventure along the Snake River, even cleaning him up when he got wet and muddy. Moriah is also an excellent communicator. I would most definitely have her dogsit for us again!

Nora was absolutely amazing with both of my dogs, and I truly can’t recommend her enough. From the start, she was communicative, reliable, and clearly cared so much about their well-being. I felt completely at ease knowing they were in such great hands. She kept me updated, and gave them so much attention, love, and care. Both dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for when I got back — which says everything. If you’re looking for someone you can genuinely trust with your dogs, Nora is it. I will absolutely be booking with her again!

This was the first time we’ve had anyone look after our two year old, 80 lb Catahoula. Britta was fantastic! Great communicator, was able to establish trust and be a strong pack leader immediately. We knew we had left our energetic, stubborn, and velcro pup in the right hands. We would definitely recommend Britta to others.

Claire was an excellent dog sitter for my border collie mix and I highly recommend her. I will definitely hope to have her stay with my dog anytime I should be out of town. I appreciate her attention to the details of my preferences, and my dogs care while I was gone as well as her help with following through on his training as I advised. My puppy was happy and tired. When I came home from all the activity she gave him.

About: While I’ve cared for pets while growing up (dogs, cats, hamsters), for the last several years I have done house and pet setting on platforms like Trusted Housesitters. I have experience looking after a home (plants, general up keep), giving pets medication, taking dogs for walks and hikes and vet visits if special treatment is required. I work remotely which allows me to be present with pets throughout the day while housesitting. This also gives me flexibility for walks and potty breaks as needed as I can manage my work day schedule. I am committed to keeping up pets’ schedules and routines to ensure they are safe and happy while their owners are away. If pets need to be crated while I’m out or during the night that’s no problem, I’m also comfortable with pets sleeping with me if that’s what they’re used to.

It was great, not having to worry that our fur babies were taken care of while we were away. He was very communicative and flexible in scheduling meet and greets. We would recommend Jared to anyone. He was wonderful!

About: I’ve been a pet sitter for over 6 years and grew up owning dogs of my own. I’m comfortable adapting to each pet’s unique needs and routines, and I always make sure they feel safe, cared for, and loved while their owners are away. I work full time (36 hours a week), but I always try to be flexible and work around any scheduling conflicts to make sure your pet gets the care they need I live in a cozy apartment in town with access to an unfenced yard. Hannah did an amazing job looking after my farm while I was away. The house was spotless and the pups were so happy when I got home. She kept everything on the property in great shape and even checked on the Highland cows, giving them some extra treats and affection. The dogs were well fed, had plenty of water, and were totally relaxed when I returned. Usually there’s a bit of pouting after I’ve been gone, but it was clear Hannah gave everyone lots of love and attention. I’d absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable, caring sitter!

Olivia is amazing. She was the first person to watch our puppy Coco for the day and we felt very comfortable entrusting her with our puppy’s care. She took the time to provide us with photos and texts during the day to let us know how the day was going. We highly recommend Olivia! Coco loves her!

FAQs for House Sitting - Darby

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Darby on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 165 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Darby. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Darby walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Darby maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Darby choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Darby. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
