About: I've been an animal lover my whole life - growing up with family dogs, adopting my own dog after college, and subsequently acquiring two cats (through the cat distribution system, of course!). For the last two years, I have worked part-time as a dog-walker for a local professional company in Winston-Salem, NC. In addition, I have done house-sitting for friends and family while away, taking care of dogs, cats, fish, and plants! I am currently working part-time from home, with very flexible hours, leaving lots of room to provide love and attention to your pets while you're away! I have experience providing very detailed care to many different clients, from measuring ounces of water being given, to wearing shoe covers to keep a house clean, to waving a cat toy *just right* to entice a cat out of hiding! I pride myself on providing the best care, and EXACTLY what your pets need while you're away.
“Jennifer was excellent with my very shy stray that we took in. Always on time, always checked in with me. Such a relief to know that my kitty was in great caring hands. Thank you Jennifer!”

“Carine was wonderful and my kitties warmed right up to her. She brought her daughter when she was available so the kitties got extra attention twice a day for the long weekend. My kitties still sit by the front door wondering when their new friends will be back💕”

“Addie was so kind and thoughtful when taking care of Penny. She went above and beyond to help and communicate with me. I would recommend her a million times to anyone looking for fantastic service and care!!!!!”

About: I’ve had and helped care for pets my entire life! From dogs and cats to guinea pigs and horses, I’ve always loved being around and caring for animals of all kinds. I’m familiar with the needs of cats and dogs of all ages and am dedicated to providing reliable, loving care so you can have peace of mind while you’re away! I just graduated from high school this past school year and will be commuting to school starting in September. I only have a few classes each weekday, so I should still be available to care for your pets around my schedule! I am also very flexible and should be able to meet the needs of almost any pet parent! In my experience, every home is run differently, and every pet sitting job is unique, so I always follow the pet parent’s schedule and instructions. I pay great attention to detail and am responsible with timelines for tasks.
“Our three dogs had a great visit from Lexi! She fed them, let them outside and played with them and sent us great photos and a video. We felt very assured leaving Lexi in charge of our crew and we returned home to three very happy pups! We'll definitely be booking Lexi for future dates. Thank you!”

About: 🐾 Pet Care Experience I have over 5 years of experience caring for dogs and cats, and I truly love what I do! I’m experienced with all aspects of everyday pet care, including feeding, fresh water, walks, potty breaks, playtime, companionship, and making sure pets feel safe, happy, and comfortable. Recently, I had the opportunity to house and care for two golden doodles for two full weeks, where I was completely responsible for their daily needs and routine. This experience strengthened my ability to provide consistent, dependable care while giving pets the attention and companionship they deserve. I’m also a proud cat owner myself and absolutely adore my kitty! 🐱❤️ Because of that, I have a huge soft spot for cats and genuinely enjoy getting to know their individual personalities and needs. Whether your pet needs a quick walk, daily visits, overnight care, or plenty of love and attention while you’re away, I’m committed to treating every animal like they’re my own. 🐾 My schedule can vary a little from week to week because I work as a soccer coach and travel around the Southwest Metro for practices and classes. That said, I currently have a pretty consistent weekly schedule and am happy to share my specific availability for any day you’re looking for! I’m also very flexible and love working with families to find a schedule that fits their needs. Whether you need a quick drop-in, a walk, or someone to spend more time with your pets, I’m happy to work around my schedule whenever I can. I’m always open to communicating and figuring out what works best for you and your furry friends! 🐾💕 I’m happy to care for pets in their own home and always do my best to keep them comfortable, happy, and on their normal routine while their owners are away! I especially enjoy in-home pet sitting because pets tend to feel most comfortable in their own familiar environment, and I’m more than happy to spend time with them, provide walks, playtime, meals, fresh water, potty breaks, litter box care, and lots of love and attention. I also understand that caring for someone’s home comes with responsibility, so I treat every home with the same respect and care I would want for my own. While I’m open to different arrangements, I currently prefer caring for pets in their home rather than hosting them at mine, as I live with other people and have limited space. I’m very flexible, though, and would love to work with you to find whatever arrangement works best for you and your pets! 🐾💕
About: I treat every pet like family—because they are. Reliable, detail-oriented, and full of love, I tailor care to your pet’s unique needs, from energetic play to gentle walks and extra snuggles. You’ll always get clear updates and a happy, cared-for best friend when you return. Pet care is a natural part of my daily routine. I work with a flexible schedule that allows me to plan walks, drop-ins, and cuddle sessions around your pet’s needs—morning, midday, or evening. You can count on me to be consistent and reliable, so your pets get care right when they expect it. Your pet’s safety and comfort come first. In my home or yours, I create a calm, secure environment where pets can relax and feel at ease. I follow your pet’s normal routines to reduce stress, keep a close eye on their behavior, and make sure they’re never left in unsafe situations. I use secure leashes and harnesses for walks, double-check gates and doors, and ensure fresh water and clean spaces at all times. You can trust that I’ll treat your home with the same care and respect I give my own—and treat your pets like family.
“Regina is a true gem! She went above and beyond for my cat. From starting out with in-home visits to realizing he wasn't coping well and offering to take him to her home. I am beyond grateful and highly recommend Regina.”

“I had a lot of anxiety leaving my older cat home after recently being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Vanessa went about and beyond at each visit. She sent pictures and loved one our cats. When we arrived home I could tell the cats were calm and well taken care of. 100% will be re booking with Vanessa. Thank you!! 🙌”

“Desiree completed multiple drop-in visits (2x daily) during a week-long vacation for my two senior cats. Mr. Twix is diabetic and requires insulin injections twice a day. Desiree was happy to stop over ahead of the trip to go over insulin and daily routines. I asked for photo updates and Desiree was happy to share! She graciously cleaned one poo mess and even helped reset the fuse box when the cat fountain stopped working. Twix and Butters were calm and happy when I arrived home. I felt comfortable on my trip knowing the kids were getting love in my absence!”
About: Hello! I'm Tina. I live in Waconia, and I'm looking to care for your dogs, for walks, quiet snuggles, or just a good run around the back yard. I've been lucky to have had 3 dogs in my life, and 20+ years of playtime, laughs, and bonding with my "kids" as I call them. I currently have a 16 year old shih tzu/mix who is my baby. In the past, I've taken care of one of my dogs, who had many health issues, so I'm experienced with senior or special needs animals. I've administered meds (pills), spent many days at the vet, and am very sensitive to ill animals and senior animals who just want to rest or have low key play. I have experience with puppies as well who are looking to just have fun! I'm very responsible and dedicated to my animals, and would be the same with yours. Give me a try! =) Right now my schedule is open availability, so I'll have plenty of time to devote to your animal and their needs. I have availability on weekends as well, but that can change by the week. I have an unfenced yard and one senior little ole lady shih tzu who is extremely low maintenance and very sweet. She has free range of the house, but I do crate her when I'm away from home for periods of time.
“Paige is incredible! She took such good care of my kitties and I had zero concerns being away from them. She was great with bringing in packages so they would not sit out all week. She played with the kitties, gave them lots of attention, and kept me updated every step of the way! I will for sure use Paige again to watch my kitties and highly recommend her for anyone else looking for a kind, caring, communicative, and all around amazing kitty sitter!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
