“I highly recommend Brian for dog sitting my pet, Chase. It was last minute because the hotel that we stayed don’t allow pet to be left alone and I left a message to Brian that night if he’s available in the morning. He’s very accomodating and professional. He has also a very good place for dogs to play. This is my first time to use Rover app and gladly, we are really satisfied.”

“Thank you, Faith! Maybellene had such a great time and I knew she was in great hands while I was visiting family in the area. She was very responsive and flexible, and her home is a welcoming place for your pup. Looking forward to next time!”

About: I have a female Siberian Husky named Onyx who I raised and trained from a puppy. I grew up and had been around dogs small to very large. My family had a German Shepherd/Malmute mix and a Pomeranian that I would watch during their vacation trips. I can take your dog on walks with mine to the park, stop in to feed and let your dog out, or watch your dog for the day. My dog is very friendly and has grown up around other dogs of all energy levels. I’m currently working part-time, so my schedule is more flexible to align to you and your pets needs. I’m new to this service so it will be a learning experience at first, but I want to provide a safe and fun experience for your pet! I have a small apartment that your dog is more than welcome to spend the day in with me and my dog. I can also drop by at multiple times during the day, depending on the location. If you prefer to have your dog stay at your house, I won’t be able to spend the entire day there, but will gladly take them on a short/long walk (depending on preference), feed them and refill water.

About: I have had all different animals all my life. I grew up working on a family farm, so I have experience with all different animal species. We currently live in Berlin with our 4 children, Great Dane Bella, and a mixture of farm animals. I attended PSU studying animal science, minoring in equine science. I am excited to meet your furry family members! I currently am a stay at home mom, so I’m very flexible! I am available for visits, drop ins, walks, day sitting in my home, and overnight boarding. I have a fenced in yard connected to my house, with locks on the gates. I also have an outdoor dog kennel and dog house if you have a dog that stays outdoors. In the home we have an older Great Dane, but she likes to keep to herself and is a certified couch potato. We have several gates up in our house to keep pets safely separated. I welcome dog crates if you have them, or I do have a few I could use here if that is easier. We have a large property where we can take walks, or we even live close to a bike trail we can walk at. I have done drop in visits for puppies and dogs in the past, and have had great feedback. I can stay for a length of time and let your pets get some exercise and play. I am open to tending farm animals as well while you’re away.
“We left our dog with Jessica for the day while we went rafting. The time we could pick her up at was pushed back multiple times, but Jessica was so flexible, kind, and understanding! Would definitely recommend her services”

“Kristina and Mark took care of our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel while we visited a local attraction. We had excellent communication during the booking process and while he was in their day care. They were very nice to keep us up to date and sent us photos. Overall, they provided a great experience. We highly recommend them!”

“Both of our beagles seemed very comfortable with Allie and her husband right away. Allie sent us pictures and updates showing they were happy and well taken care of. She was flexible and receptive to changing the booking times for drop off and pick up when our plans changed. We will definitely be using her services again.”

About: I have been taking care of fur babies for well over a decade. I used to be a full time dog walker/house sitter until I went into healthcare. Whether your pet has many needs or just likes to chill out, I’m more than happy to help. As a pet owner myself, I know that animals are not just pets... they’re a part of the family and I treat them so. Please do not hesitate to ask about my experience or any other questions you may have. I have a full time job in healthcare and am usually off Friday to Sunday while the other days vary a little bit. I update my availability regularly. I have two dogs who are friendly and love to play. They interact with big and small dogs well. As far dog walking and visits, I treat your place like my own. I’ll tidy up after myself and let you know how my visit went :)
“Lucy always does an amazing job with Molly. Her and Christian have really helped me with watching Molly as I prepare for a move, but I will still keep them as my go-to dog sitters for when I take a trip, even if they will live an hour away. The dog's excitement as I approach their house to drop her off with them tells me how well she's cared for while there.”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Cumberland
Lucy has been watching my puppy for the past few months and I cannot recommend her more! She was always so attentive and followed up if there were any problems during my work day. My puppy has finally grown out of the day-care stage but I can safely say I don’t know what I would’ve done without her. Will be having her watch my baby when needed!

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Cumberland commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in MD ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
