“Jaclyn was punctual, attentive, and so kind to our animals (2 cats, 1 dog. And a turtle). Her updates kept me feeling good about our choice, as this was the first time our dog stayed home over a vacation (we used to just kennel, and he can be alot). She loved on our kitties and played with our pup to help his energetic self happy, she even hand fed him when he protested by not eating. Will definitely use again!”

“Emily has been so great with our babies! We have a sweet senior and a very playful puppy. She has been a great help for us. Both me and my husband work full time jobs and have a pretty busy schedule. Emily has definitely relieved a lot of our worries by being able to give our babies potty and playtime breaks at very random times and days. We will most definitely continue to reach out to her. Thanks Emily!”

“My little girl is anxious but Savannah did amazing! She was so patient and even came to meet Stella (my dog) beforehand so everyone was safe and comfortable. Couldn’t be happier! Savannah went above and beyond. Thank you so much for taking care of Stella!”

“This was our first time leaving our dogs in the care of another. Tracey did a wonderful job and took great care of them. Thank you for taking great care of our fur babies.”

“Cecilia went above and beyond. I had contractors at the house and she ensured Seamus was safe and unable to escape the backyard. She walked him and checked in to make sure I felt comfortable. Highly recommend Cecilia”

I’m currently self‑employed and make my own schedule, which means I’m extremely flexible and available seven days a week. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I’m home often, able to adjust my day around visits, walks, and overnight stays, and I prioritize keeping pets on their normal schedule. Whether you need early mornings, evenings, weekends, or last‑minute support, I’m able to accommodate a wide range of timing needs. I care for pets with a calm, gentle, and detail‑oriented approach. In your home, I follow your routines exactly! Feeding schedules, potty breaks, litter care, walks, medication instructions, and any special notes you provide. I have cozy resting spots, safe areas for exploration, and a clean setup ready for boarding. Most owners bring their cat’s preferred litter box, litter, food, and carrier, but I also keep a clean backup litter box and extra litter available if needed. I move slowly with shy or anxious pets, give them space to warm up, and always prioritize their comfort. I send consistent photo updates so you can see how your pet is doing and feel confident they’re in good hands.
“Amy was an absolute lifesaver when she extended for a week when I was delayed coming home due to a family illness - thanks so much, Amy!! She was so patient with our skittish kitty, finally winning her over, ending with pets and lap naps! I highly recommend this wonderful lady!”

“Courtney did an amazing job with our girls during the drop in visits at our home! She followed our instructions carefully, kept us updated on how they were doing, and always sent photos and Rover cards after each visit. It gave us so much peace of mind knowing the girls were in great hands. We would definitely book with her again!”

We had a very last minute need for someone to let our Golden out to potty d/t running late from work, he responded promptly and was at our place within 10 minutes- letting our pup out and playing catch with him. About: I’ve had dogs for as long as I can remember. My pets are my children so I love them fiercely. I have worked with and volunteered with animals for the last 15 years. I’ve spent time with pets in a clinic environment as a vet tech, a shelter environment as a kennel tech and dog walker, and a rescue environment as a volunteer. My volunteer time has included transporting pets, walking dogs, helping mamas who just had puppies, and loving on new puppies too! I have flexibility and freedom with my schedule. I can do drop ins, stay and visit with your pet for a bit, and do feedings or give meds if need be. Because my own dogs can be knuckleheads, I can take care of your pets in your home. It might help make their time away from you easier for them anyhow. I can take them for walks, play with them in your yard, take them for car rides, and just hang out with them. My goal would be to make your pets as happy and comfortable as possible. When they’re happy, you’re happy…and then you can enjoy your time away.
“Alexcee gives such great care to our pups when we’re away! She updates us consistently, and is very coordinated with any instructions or guidelines we give her. Even on short notice, she is always eager to watch over and love on our pups!”

About: I love taking care of dogs and going on walks. It doesn't matter how old your dog is, they're still a puppy and I already love them with my whole heart. I have a 3 year old border collie & a 5 year old Australian cattle dog/Chihuahua mix that keep our home both happy and hairy. I have years of experience with drop in visits, and can make sure your pup is taken care of while you do what you need to do. I've got a lot of love to give your sweet pups! Majority of my drop in flexibility for the time being is going to be before and after work hours. I am a teacher so the initial would be in the morning and then in the evening for dinner/potty I treat every animal like I’ve raised it since it was a baby. I know how anxiety inducing it can be to leave them but also leave them with someone that’s not you or not family, so I exude the love, kindness, and respect that I would hope someone would to my 2 boys.

“Marcela did a fabulous job taking care of Chesty while I was out of town. She always kept me informed, asked questions when needed, and showed genuine attention and care for him. Could not have asked for a better sitter. Will definitely seek her services again!”

About: I have 6 years of veterinary experience and currently work at an animal urgent care clinic. Cat and dog lover with pet care being my favorite hobby. I currently care for two Persian cats of my own, who are strictly indoors. Outside of my work-from-home job, I work part-time on the weekend at an animal urgent care to expand my love of caring for pets. With my background in health care, my technician skills have helped me be able to approach and respect the pet. Especially with pets whose homes I am entering for the first time. They need to trust and want to get familiar with me before I come into their home, and they notice their favorite humans aren't home with them either.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
