I 100% highly recommend Mark to watch your babies. He is trust worthy, communicative, and reliable. Not only did I contact him with less than 24 hours notice, he followed my every direction perfectly and documented the whole experience via text with pictures. With a great sense of humor i appreciate while not being home, I would absolutely re-hire Mark again to watch my pups.

About: I have had animals my whole life and I currently have two dogs and three cats. I’ve trained one of my current dogs and one of my previous dogs, giving me experience with basic training and routines. I’ve also dog-sat for others and always make sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and cared for. I treat every pet like my own and pay close attention to their individual needs. I am home for the summer from college, and am able to be very flexible. I have almost all weekends free, and will work during the week as well. While home for the summer I live with a house full of pets, as well as having animals at school. I am perfectly capable of working with your animals in your own home as I am a trustworthy, responsible and reliable person with a great love for animals.

Samantha was terrific! We are very fussy leaving our labrador, Paddington, with anyone. We met with her beforehand, and we instantly knew that everything would be fine. She is extremely reliable, kept in touch with us consistently, and we were very pleased with her stay. We would happily use her again.. We would recommend her to anybody!!

About: Animal Handling Experience - I have been caring for animals as a career consistently for the last 3 years. I have been working as a Veterinary Assistant for the last eight months at a reputable animal hospital and have truly found my calling in life. I feel that my experience in the veterinary field provides both pet owners and myself peace of mind when your animals are under my supervision. I know what little symptoms are concerning and important to note that others may miss. I make sure to track bathroom habits and meals. I am confident managing and giving medications to your pets while you are away. Dog Walking - Extensive experience walking and caring for multiple dogs at one time. I am very popular within my neighborhood and my family to care for dogs when people don't have time, and I am always punctual. I like the walks to be enjoyable for the dogs, not just a task that the walker has to complete. Overnight Stays - During overnight stays I also offer to bring in mail, packages, and water plants. When I care for an animal I make sure they receive special attention that goes beyond food and water. I play with them and provide enrichment, walks, and exercise. This includes visits as frequently as requested and caring for all the animals' special needs. I enjoy spending time with all animals, so if there are any other critters in the home I would love to help take care of them as well. I currently have a lively aquarium and have previously kept birds and reptiles so I am comfortable looking after our fur-less friends. I currently work four days a week and my shifts are approximately from 7am-6pm. My days off are a bit varied but I get my schedule almost a month in advance so I am able to commit confidently to future events. I care for your pets however you need. I understand that some animals have truly interesting quirks and I'm ready to do whatever your fur baby needs. Do we need to sing a specific song to go into our crate? Do we have a 15 step dinner routine? I am here for it all, and I'll be talking to your pet throughout every step.

Jess was great! She came and did a meet and greet with us and Riley was excited to meet her. She was on time, friendly, and took great care of our pup (and kitty) while we were out of town for a wedding! She sent daily updates, was super communicative, and did a great job making us feel better our first time leaving our fur babies. We’ll definitely be using her in the future!

About: I have taken care of both dogs and cats for as long as I can remember. I have just completed my first year of Veterinary Technician school and have done 3 different internships in the field. I am very well versed with simple care, medications, and most importantly love for the animals! My schedule fluctuates very frequently as I have a part time job and im also completeing an internship, however I can easily work my schedule around whatever the animals need! I have a fenced yard with a very friendly pup at home. I can also let your pet in and out of crates, give treats and/or medications, take them on walks, and anything else they may need.

Emma did an amazing job caring for our three pups in our home while we were on vacation! She was always quick to respond whenever I checked in or had a question, which gave me so much peace of mind. When I realized I needed to extend our booking by a day at the last minute (my mistake!), she happily accommodated the change without any hassle. Not only did she take wonderful care of our dogs, but she also checked on our chickens and collected their eggs. She was a respectful and considerate houseguest, leaving our home in great shape. Her experience working with animals really showed, and I felt completely confident that everyone was in great hands while we were away. Thanks so much, Emma!

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is the level of individualized care and attention I give every dog. I don’t just “watch” pets — I truly get to know their personalities, routines, and needs so they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I have experience training puppies, including basic commands, leash manners, crate training, and reinforcing positive behaviors. I’m also confident caring for senior dogs who may need a slower pace, extra patience, or mobility support. Whether your pup is high-energy and playful or calm and cuddly, I adapt to their unique temperament. I prioritize clear communication, regular photo updates, and creating a stress-free experience for both pets and owners. Your dog’s safety, happiness, and well-being always come first. Pet care is a natural part of my daily and weekly routine — I intentionally structure my schedule to make sure I have dedicated, unhurried time for each dog. Whether it’s morning walks, midday check-ins, playtime, feeding schedules, or evening cuddles, I plan my days around the pets in my care so they receive consistent attention and companionship. I build flexibility into my week to accommodate different energy levels and needs, from active pups who love longer walks to seniors who prefer shorter, gentler outings. Because I prioritize reliability and routine, your dog can count on consistent care, and you can count on dependable communication and updates. Caring for pets isn’t something I squeeze in — it’s something I genuinely make space for. In My Home: When pets stay with me, I create a calm, safe, and welcoming environment that feels as close to their normal routine as possible. I follow your feeding schedules, potty routines, exercise needs, and any specific instructions you provide. Dogs receive plenty of supervised playtime, walks, mental stimulation, and affection. I’m mindful of introductions (if other pets are present), keep the space clean and secure, and make sure every dog has a comfortable area to rest and relax. In Your Home: When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on maintaining their usual routine to reduce stress. I stick closely to feeding times, walks, and preferred activities. I also respect your home by keeping things tidy, bringing in mail if requested, and ensuring everything is secure before I leave. My goal is to make your absence feel as smooth and normal as possible for your pet. For both services, I prioritize safety, communication, and regular photo updates so you always know how your pet is doing. I treat every animal as if they were my own — with patience, attentiveness, and lots of love.

Alexa stayed with my two dogs for 8 days while I was on a recent trip. She sent pictures and updates everyday and my dogs and house were very well cared for. She even accommodated my ask for a family member to stop by mid-week to check in since I’ve never left my dogs for this long before. Her regular updates made it so I could enjoy my trip knowing my dogs were being well cared for at home!

About: My lifelong love for dogs is matched by my hands-on experience caring for a wide variety of breeds and temperaments. I have a special knack for connecting with both energetic pups who need an active companion and anxious dogs who benefit from a patient, calm presence. My key is creating an stress-free environment where every dog feels safe, secure, and treated as family. My life is dedicated to canine care! My primary role as a Pet Care Taker means I spend my days ensuring dogs are safe, socialized, and well-cared for. Amazing sitter! She took such great care of my dog, made sure he got all his meds on time, fed him well, and spent lots of time playing fetch (his favorite!). She also went the extra mile by keeping my place tidy, grabbing my mail, and taking the trash out on pickup day. I came home to a happy dog and a clean house. Couldn’t ask for more—highly recommend!

Gracelyn did a great job caring for our pups! We discovered the day we left that Mari had diarrhea – – probably from eating something in our yard – – but Gracelyn took all that in stride and fixed rice and chicken for her until it cleared up. Zinc, our 15 1/2 year-old dog, ran out of medicine halfway through our time away, and Gracelyn took care of contacting the vet and getting the refill he needed. The house was well maintained and the pups were happy. We plan to engage Gracelyn in the future and we highly recommend her to care for your pups as well.

FAQs for House Sitting - Clarks Mills

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of June 2026, there are 491 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Clarks Mills. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Clarks Mills walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Clarks Mills maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Clarks Mills choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Clarks Mills. On Rover:

  • 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 94% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
