“Tindle was extremely amazing for our puppers! She kept us very updated, and even took them for walks around the property to ensure they were getting plenty of time outside! She made the most of her quick visits and really offered the best care for our babies!”

“Harriette was amazing! I’m new to the area and was looking for a pet sitter and I’m so happy I came across Rover—which led me to Harriette! Someone who keeps in touch and sends photos and updates about my cat when I’m away is HUGE, and Harriette was someone who did just that. I know Dexter is in good hands with Harriette and plan to book her again for all of our times away from home!”
“Lori was amazing with our babies! Both our babies love her when she comes and visits them. Lori spends time and brushes their coat (their favorite) and tends to their needs! We didn't have to worry when we were traveling out of the country for 2 weeks! You're the best, Lori!”

“Very very appreciative of Kathryn. She was so helpful and ensured that all of our pets’ needs were met, going above and beyond to make sure that everything went well. I’ve had a few less than pleasant experiences on here, so coming home to happy pets and no mess was a relief. I absolutely recommend booking with her.”

“Minda was great! She did a few drop in visits on my very high energy pup. She cared for him well and was able to help get some of his energy out while I was gone. Would recommend!”

About: Hi, I'm Cloe! I live in Greenville and I've wanted a dog for years. Until then, I'm happy to spend time with yours. I've fostered a dog before, so I know how much a new routine can stress a pup, and I'm patient about helping them settle in. I also have a cat, so I'm comfortable with animals of all kinds. I'm active and love getting outside, so walks and playtime are my favorite part. I'll send photo and video updates so you can see how your dog is doing. I'm happy to follow your dog's routine for food, meds, and walks. I'm home on weekends, so your dog stays with me and gets my full attention, not hours alone. I stick to your routine for meals, walks, and potty breaks, and I'll send photo updates throughout the stay. Evenings are for relaxing together at home. I also have a cat, so your dog would be sharing the space with one. My home is calm and comfortable, and your dog stays with me for the whole weekend, so they get lots of attention. I ask owners to bring their dog's food, bed, and favorite toys so things feel familiar, and I follow your routine for meals, medications, walks, and potty breaks. Your dog gets regular walks and playtime, and I send photo updates throughout the stay. I have a cat, so I do a quick meet-and-greet beforehand to make sure everyone's comfortable. If anything comes up, I'll contact you right away and follow your vet and emergency instructions
“Shannon did a great job taking care of our senior cat while we were away. Our cat can be a little slow to warm up to new people but Shannon was patient and Applesauce quickly made a new friend. Shannon was reliable and communicated well. We’d definitely have her back.”

About: I grew up on a small farm, so have been taking care of animals essentially since birth. I have had anything from dogs and cats, to horses and chickens. All dogs and cats have been inside animals, with a good many of them being rescued or fostered. I am currently a self employed stay at home ceramic artist. I have two loving and spoiled miniature schnauzers, who are 5 and 6 years old. They spend every waking moment with me, even having their own space while I work. I have two friendly and non reactive miniature schnauzers. Dog safe, fenced in yard with security cameras in every corner. Daily walks around West Village, when the pavement temperature allows. I am home 99% of the time, but dogs are crated when I need to run errands, both for their safety and peace of mind.
“Jessica has watched our dogs several times now, and it’s so great having someone so consistent that we can trust to take such great care of them. She is quick to communicate and always gives updates on the dogs and the house.”

“I really can’t say enough good things about Athena!! She is so easy to work with, super friendly, and very professional. She provides such detailed updates and pictures every time, I don’t have to worry at all about my fur babies being in great hands. I will definitely continue booking with Athena, and I’m so glad I’ve found someone reliable to trust coming in my home, and taking care of my babies.”

“Jessica was great with our senior dog! She was patient and kind. Will definitely use her as a sitter again in the future. She was on time and communicated well. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy and on time for your pets I would book with her. I’m typically skeptical about letting strangers in my home however she was great.”

“Hannah did a wonderful job taking care of my boy while I was away! She even sent the cutest pictures too. He can be a little bit stand offish with people sometimes but he warmed right up to her. Would definitely have her sit again. :)”

About: I have been passionate about pet care since I was very young. I take care of all kinds of animals! From ferrets and rabbits, fish, cats, and of course dogs. I worked at a vet clinic for some years and learned a great deal and acquired valuable experience! I also went to school and got certified as a professional dog trainer and have been doing that off and on for the past 5 years. I fostered shelter dogs and puppies for a long time. Even raising litters of foster puppies and kittens at times! Dogs are my true passion and I have a lot of knowledge on the subject. I will handle reactive or difficult dogs and breeds with confidence and ease. My first dog was quite reactive towards other dogs so I am very familiar and comfortable with the attention and management that requires. Don’t worry about it! If you have had trouble with sitters due to your pets behavior and/or difficulties, I am your person! I will watch any animal with any temperament or any difficulty. I have most recently been working at dog grooming salon for the last 1.5 years so I am able to provide grooming services as well! My whole life revolves around taking care of animals so your schedule will fit right in! Just let me know what works best for your animals! Crating or keeping dogs or different animals separate is no issue for me, I can give medication, do routine walks or make sure they are exercised in their own yard if needed. Just let me know your expectations and I will make it happen.

Harriette did a great job watching Farrah while we were away! Always very responsive and communicative. Our cat had just finished a round of medication before we left so we werent sure how she would be while away, but Harriette was great about keeping us updated with her status and adjusting care as needed. Thanks!

Natalie did a wonderful job! We appreciated the detailed rover cards and pictures. She left our place feeling fantastic too! She followed the instructions perfectly and our cats were so happy. She is friendly and great at communication too! I would happily rebook with her.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
