“Highly recommend Erin for your critter care!! 11/10!!! She watched out 2 dogs, cat, chickens, and house for a week and a half and did such an amazing job. She was very communicative, giving us updates every night. She left the house cleaner than when we left and just did such a good job with our animals. We will absolutely be having Erin help us again and you should too!!”

“Sarah was excellent with communication before she came during the time she took care of little scruffy with pics and updates multiple times a day. She left the house spotless ! We could tell scruffy does love her! She took him out for walks and he fell asleep by her side . She is so nice and scruffy was a rescue dog so for him to like her so quick we knew everything would be fine. Thanks Sarah your awesome!”

“Jen was absolutely wonderful with Bogart. She is caring and compassionate and a lovely person! She cooked for him and was patient with Bogart's needs as an 18 year-old dog. She was sending me pictures and updates regularly and he was so peppy and happy after spending time with her. I know Bogart would love to spend time with her again!”

“Jedan is amazing!!! She stayed at our house for about a week and cared for (and spoiled!) Kimmie as if she were her own, buying her toys/treats and even cooking for her. She kept us constantly updated with messages and photos and was extremely respectful. Looking forward to booking her again!”

“Melissa took excellent care of our pups while we were away for the weekend! She kept in touch and sent pics and videos of them frequently. Our house was immaculate when we got home and the dogs were well loved and cared for. Melissa is great with animals and made us feel good about leaving the dogs with her. She is friendly, communicative, and upbeat- a great sitter!”

“Jason was fantastic. He helped me in a pinch and was prompt, communicative and generally happy to spend time with Chloe (my dog). Received photos and updates. Very good experience, will certainly book again. Thank you Jason!”

About: Hi! I’m a lifelong animal lover with experience caring for a wide range of pets, including dogs, cats, and horses. Growing up around animals has given me a deep understanding of their needs, personalities, and behaviors. I’m attentive, patient, and committed to making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. Whether it’s going for walks, playtime, or just providing companionship, I treat every animal as if they were my own. I’m also experienced in administering medications and can confidently follow any specific care instructions to ensure your pet stays happy and healthy. You can count on me to provide reliable, compassionate care and plenty of updates so you have peace of mind while you’re away! Pet care fits naturally into my routine, especially during evenings and weekends when I’m most available. I make it a priority to be there for pets when their owners are busy, traveling, or just need an extra hand after a long day. I’m consistently available for evening drop-in visits, making sure pets are fed, exercised, and given plenty of attention and companionship before settling in for the night. On weekends, I have even more flexibility and can accommodate multiple visits, extended care, or last-minute bookings. Caring for animals is something I truly enjoy, so I build my schedule around giving them the time, consistency, and care they deserve. I tailor my care based on each pet’s needs and the service requested, whether I’m in my home or yours. My goal is always to keep pets comfortable, safe, and as close to their normal routine as possible. In a client’s home, I focus on maintaining your pet’s usual schedule feeding, walks, playtime, and any special care instructions so they feel secure in their familiar environment. I keep things clean and organized, and I’m respectful of your space while making sure your pet gets plenty of attention, affection, and exercise. I also provide regular updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing. If caring for pets in my home, I provide a calm, safe, and pet-friendly environment where they’ll receive lots of supervision, love, and attention. I make sure they have a comfortable place to relax, consistent potty breaks, and plenty of playtime. I’m attentive to details and experienced in administering medications if needed, and I’m always mindful of each pet’s personality, energy level, and comfort. My priority is making sure every pet feels happy, safe, and well cared for while you’re away.

About: I grew up taking care of multiple cats and dogs, and would take care of my neighbors' pets while they were away. While I spend less time at home now, I still always take care of my two very lively dogs when I return! This summer, I am working part-time, virtually, and asynchronously, so I am available all days of the week, around the clock! Pet care fits well into both my daily and weekly routine. I care for pets the way I have always cared for my pets: I give them lots of love, time, and energy, staying attentive to what they want to do. Having lived with pets my whole life, I am equally capable of working with puppies or kittens as I am with older dogs and cats.
“Stephanie was great! She was a huge help when another sitter cancelled last minute. She took great care of our dog and home and communicated well through the experience. We would definitely re-book with her if ever needed! Thank you, Stephanie!”

About: I have had pets in my household since being a young boy. I have raised and taken care of cats, dogs, geese, chickens, cattle and pigs.I currently have 3 cats and 4 goats I am raising. I love our animals and dedicate many hours each day socializing and taking care of them. I currently have most weekends available and I home most evenings during the week. I know my schedule several days and weeks ahead of time. My cats have the ability to go outside everyday. I ensure our cats are safely inside every night. My goats have a barn and pasture to live in. They have complete shelter from the elements if needed.
“Grace was so wonderful with Annie and Ollie and our home! She gave us daily updates and pics. We also appreciated how well she communicated with us. We will definitely book her again!!”

About: I’ve never not had a pet in my house hold, owning cats, dogs, and even lizards and hamsters over the years. Growing up I also pet sat for birds, snakes, dogs, cats, and fish as well as worked on a horse farm for two summers. My own personal dog is a senior lad at the age of 14 years and have a kitten at home. Ive worked with puppies, adult dogs, and senior pups, kitten and full grown cats. I love to spend time playing and petting them (if thats what they want) and will do my best to love them a fraction of what you do to keep them happy while you’re away! I work in Portland until 4pm every week day and get back to the area around 5. I would be free to care for your pets from around 5:30pm-6:20am. I can feed, walk, brush, pet, and/or play with any of the animals you may have tailoring to whatever best suits their needs, I am an animal lover and want to best support the critters in any way I can in your absence.

FAQs for House Sitting - China
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in China on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 137 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across China. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred China walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in China maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in China choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in China. On Rover:
- 100% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 100% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
