“Kathryn and her family watched our Shiloh while we were away on a work trip. Shiloh is new to our family and a puppy so I was nervous about leaving her, but Kathryn and her family took such great care of Shiloh and updated throughout our trip. Literally all worries I had were relieved within minutes of leaving her there! I could not recommend Kathryn more!”

“Julie did a wonderful job caring for my Marli! She provided updates and photos while I was on my trip. I could tell that Marli really enjoyed playing with the other dogs in Julie's large yard as she came home very tired. I plan to use Julie again in the very near future! I highly recommend her services!”

“My dogs are always happy to spend some time with Rebecca and her family. They are well taken care of and I trust my pups in their care. I will continue to book with Rebecca. Thank you again !”

“For Rascal, being at Lorena's is like being at home except better: he's allowed to sleep on the furniture at Lorena's. Not at all spoiled! Lorena's entire family (including her own dogs) treats Rascal like one of the family. This is, by far, the best boarding experience (home away from home) he has ever had.”
“Meredith is an angel with our sweet pup! She kept him for the duration of our cruise, and updated us with several pictures and a video. She was able to cater to our specific feeding needs, as well as administering medication. We are so lucky to have a puppysitter that treats him with such love and care.”

“This was my first time leaving my boy & everything from the profile to communication made me feel really comfortable. I knew this was going to be a place he would be comfortable as well. If you are going to leave your furry family I can guarantee this is the best spot.”

“Laurie was great with Oakley. She provided plenty of outside time and sent frequent updates with photos and videos. I could tell Oakley enjoyed her time with Laurie and her dogs.”

“Absolutely an amazing sitter. My picky dog ate every meal with Linda. She went on multiple walks sent multiple photos and videos. My dog had an absolute vacation with Linda. I will never take my dog to anyone else. Linda is my new and only dog sitter.”

“Charlotte is a phenomenal sitter and I can’t recommend her enough! You can tell she really understands dogs, and our boy Bruno feels so comfortable with Charlotte’s “pack”. She is a great communicator and caretaker!”

“Our girl Lily was treated like family from the moment she arrived. Stephen was responsive, thorough, and provided several updates during her stay, which was a great comfort to us! We loved the photos, videos and notes of Lily playing with the ball in the backyard and snuggling and getting belly rubs from Nick. Your fur baby is in good hands in this home!”

“Traci is phenomenal with our dogs! She took care of our furbaby a week after his surgery when my family had to go out of town. She made sure he was comfortable and was sure to provide updates throughout the time we were gone. We highly recommend Traci!”

“This is the 2nd time Chris watched my Bella. She enjoyed herself. He sent me pictures of her throughout the stay. I had special food for him to feed her, and that was no problem. She will be going back.”

About: Hi, I’m Sierra! I know leaving your pet with someone new can be stressful, so I want to make that experience a little easier for both of you. I’m patient, caring, and happy to learn what makes your pet feel comfortable from their favorite activities to the little things they’re particular about. I’ll follow their routine and your care instructions, give them plenty of attention, and keep you updated with pictures and messages. Feel free to share anything you’d like me to know about them. I want you to feel comfortable asking questions and knowing how your pet is doing! When I accept a booking, I set aside time to give your dog dependable care and attention. I confirm the schedule and care instructions with you beforehand, arrive on time for walks and visits, and follow your dog’s routine for meals, potty breaks, exercise, and rest. In my home or yours, I make sure your pet’s space is safe by keeping doors secure and food, cleaning products, and small objects out of reach. On walks, I use a secure leash and follow your instructions about interactions with other dogs and people. Before care begins, I ask about allergies, health concerns, behavior, and anything your pet needs to feel comfortable. I keep your contact information and vet details handy, respect your home, and let you know promptly if anything seems wrong
“We are repeat clients of Heather. She is our first choice for dog boarding not only because Lucky is well cared for while with her, but also because she takes the time to understand his personality and tendencies. We trust Heather to care for our family member!”

“We found ourselves in a pinch and needed a pet sitter for a few days. Amanda was great in responding and setting up a meet and greet with her pups beforehand. I truly felt comfortable leaving our girl Relic with her and she had an awesome time. I would definitely use Amanda again in the future.”

About: I care deeply about the well-being, happiness, and comfort of every dog in my care. I understand how important it is for your pet to feel safe, loved, exercised and relaxed. You can enjoy worry-free care knowing your furry friend is in caring and attentive hands. I’ve owned pets my whole life and I’ve fostered dogs for the past 3 years. I work but I get up early enough to have ample time for morning routine of potty, feeding and playtime or walk. After work, it’s potty, feeding and playtime again with a walk. Your pet will have the freedom of the main floor until they have settled in. I have gates, play fences and crates if they are needed. Once comfortable, they are allowed upstairs (I had a few fosters that loved to hang out on my bed). I have a fenced yard for play and bathroom. I have multiple dog beds and lots of toys. I have my own small dog, who has never met a dog he didn’t like, and three cats.
“Ben & Ariel were absolutely wonderful with Mishka! We’ve used several sitters this year, and this was the first time she came home so clearly happy, relaxed, and genuinely well loved. That alone means everything to us. They kept her active with plenty of walks, gave us terrific updates, and sent lots of photos so we always knew how she was doing. It was obvious they weren’t just watching her—they really cared for her and made her feel at home. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We will 1000% book with Ben & Ariel again and would recommend them without hesitation. Thank you both for taking such great care of our girl! ❤️🐾”

About: Always had a pet growing up! My last dog Cody lived to be 18 years young! I know what it’s like to tend with aging furbabies! &I’m not scared to get my hands dirty. 🐱🐶🐦⬛🐢🐍🦎🐠🐇🦙🐁🐿️ I work 4-5 hours daily and work directly across the street from home. Your pets needs is my #1 priority! I maintain a clean, safe pet friendly home. I do have a fenced backward if needed, but I enjoy going on walks in the neighborhood or play in the yard. I can add a bath to the visit or I can brush them. I try my best to keep everyone happy! 😊 Can’t wait me meet all my new furbaby friends!

Marissa was so wonderful with our boys! She had great communication and was extremely kind! Sue sent a ton of photos and made me feel engaged with Joe my boys weee doing during their stay! I highly recommend Marissa to take care of your fur babies! 1,000% rebooking in the future!

Kate and her whole family were amazing! They all went out of their way to keep Bella comfortable and safe. I was very concerned leaving her, since she is nearly 18 and doesn’t get around very well, but my fears were unfounded. From the moment I met her I could tell that Bella would be in good hands. I would highly recommend her services to anyone looking for a truly caring and attentive dog sitter.

I don't normally leave reviews, but our experience with Sarah was exceptional and worth sharing. Sarah cared for my dog, Lexie, for a week, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. She is a true animal lover, and it was obvious from the moment we met her that she genuinely enjoys caring for pets. Throughout the stay, she sent daily photos and updates, which gave me and my kids complete peace of mind while I was away. Lexie absolutely loved staying with Sarah. She especially enjoyed playing with Sarah's friendly dogs, getting plenty of outdoor time, and having a comfortable place to relax after a fun day. By the end of the week, I honestly think Lexie felt like she was the one on vacation—and she may have even been a little sad to leave! If you're looking for someone who will treat your pet like family, provide lots of love, exercise, and attention, I highly recommend Sarah. I never once worried while Lexie was in her care, and I will absolutely trust Sarah with her again in the future.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Chancellor home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Chancellor.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Chancellor sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
