About: I have owned pets since I was 4 years old. I have worked in the veterinary field since I was sixteen and am starting my 2nd year of veterinary school at Long Island University. Over the years I have pet sit for a total of 25 different dogs, 15 cats, a bearded dragon, a hamster, guinea pigs, and a turtle. I am able to medicate any dogs or cats, as well as give any injections needed (ex. insulin). I also have experience at a dog daycare where I was in charge of over 40 dogs of all sizes in one large yard together. I am currently working full time at UrgentVet and work second shift so I am available in the mornings or any time on my days off. When school starts at the end of August, I will be able to work around my class schedule and make adjustments as needed for your pet. I care for pets as if they are my own. I make sure they are comfortable and keep their daily routine that they are used to, to make sure everything goes as smooth as possible.

About: Hi! I'm a wildlife biologist, and I've spent most of my life taking care of animals — in a veterinary setting, on wildlife conservation projects, and growing up in my own home with my family pets. I work as a full-time biologist during the spring/summer, and will have open availability over the fall, winter, and spring to help with your pet care needs! I started out as a kennel technician at a veterinary hospital, where my days were cleaning dog kennels and cat cages, feeding and watering, walking dogs, giving oral and topical medications, holding animals for exams, and keeping daily records on everyone in our care. This job is where I learned how to understand an animal’s body language, and how to adjust my own to make sure they feel safe. Since then I've graduated from university and have worked as a field biologist for state and federal agencies, most recently monitoring endangered shorebirds at Jones Beach State Park here on Long Island. Along the way I provided daily care and feeding for state-owned horses in Oregon, and I've handled, banded, and released wild birds across four different groups — songbirds, raptors, waterfowl, and doves. If you have a bird and you get nervous about leaving them, let’s chat. I’d be happy to care for any feathered family members! At home I've kept lizards, snakes, birds, and aquariums of my own, so I'm comfortable with things like heat gradients and UVB, humidity, feeding schedules that aren't daily, and water parameters and filtration. I'd love to meet you and your crew! Currently, I have open availability from 10 am - 9 pm 7 days a week for drop ins and walks. For overnight stays, I am available anytime with 1-2 days notice. Before the first visit I do a free meet-and-greet. I want to see where everything lives — food, leash, litter, carrier, cleaning supplies — and I write the routine down rather than trusting my memory: feeding times and amounts, medications, which treats are allowed, how your dog behaves on a walk, and anything that frightens them. I also want your vet's name and number and a backup contact before I'm ever in the house alone. The thing I'm most careful about is doors. I come and go deliberately, I know where every animal is before I open anything, and I never leave a door propped. Dogs stay leashed the entire time they're outside with me, with no off-leash exceptions unless you've asked for it specifically. I give Medication exactly as written, at the time you've specified, and I confirm each dose with you. I don't adjust a dose or skip one because an animal is being difficult — I'll message you instead. Following written protocols precisely is most of what my professional work has been, in a veterinary hospital and in the field, and I treat your instructions the same way. I pay attention and I report: appetite, water, litter box or bathroom habits, energy, and anything that looks off. If something seems wrong I'll contact you right away. If it looks like an emergency and I can't reach you, I'll get your pet to your vet or the nearest emergency clinic and keep calling. And I look after the house. I clean up after your pet and after myself, I keep your keys and door codes private, I don't bring anyone with me, and I leave the place better than I found it. You'll get photos and a short real update after every visit. I also welcome any feedback, as that helps me do a better job in the future!

About: My first job was as a dog walker when I was 12! I have grown up with cats and dogs - caring for them from puppies/kittens through to their golden years. I have also dog/house sat for a large rescue + their several senior cats! My goal is to get to know each pet I interact with so that me and your pet can enjoy our time together. Furry friends are family and I treat them as such. I have also volunteered at 2 different rescues over the past several years helping care for cats as well as walk and play with dogs of all ages. I am currently finishing my last year of medical school so my schedule is not completely free. However, I do typically have evenings, weekends, and a random day off during the week! I get my current schedule 1 month at a time and am happy to accommodate outside my scheduled hospital shifts. I am very respectful of others rules for their home and their pets. About: I’ve grown up surrounded by animals and can’t remember a time when they weren’t a part of my life. I helped care for my family’s two dogs, Charlie and Teddy, whenever my parents were away on business, feeding, walking, playing, grooming and making sure they felt loved and comfortable. which taught me a lot about responsibility and the unique little personalities each pet has. In college, I cared for my roommate’s cat over the summer when he wasn’t able to, and that experience sparked my love for cats as well! Since then, I’ve also watched my girlfriend’s family’s three cats and their dog, and eventually adopted my own kitten, Toby who lives with me, who is about 6 months Over the years, I’ve gained hands on experience with grooming tasks like bathing, nail trimming, brushing teeth, and keeping coats clean, brushed and healthy. I’ve also done basic training with my dogs, teaching them commands like sit, lay down, heel, high five, and roll over. While I’m not a professional trainer, I understand that every animal learns at their own pace and always try to approach training with patience and positive reinforcement. I care deeply about each pet’s comfort and happiness.
