“With both me and my boyfriend working in healthcare and having crazy schedules, we decided to get a puppy. Then our work schedules got flipped and we were panicking on what to do with little man while we both had to work Christmas Eve and day and 12hr shifts. Then came a Christmas miracle, Kaitlyn and her amazing family watched over little Apollo. I was so nervous as this was my first time using Rover and I was unsure about the legitimacy, but Kaitlyn had great reviews and went above and beyond to make Apollo feel welcomed in her home and. She stuck to his feeding and training plan, tuckered him out with tons of play and made sure to update me with adorable pictures throughout the day! If you have a chance to book with her I would say absolutely do it, I would trust her with a human child!!”

“Amazing service! Vera went above and beyond. She was very attentive to Lilly and her needs. So glad that she got to play with Vera’s dogs and that they went on a long walk! We are definitely returning ?”

“We came in to town with our dog having never gone on a plane and never been in daycare. Patty made us comfortable from our first contact with her and provided a wonderful day for our dog. We never worried and got frequent updates and pictures of how great things were going.”

About: I’ve grown up with Chinchillas, Cats, Dogs, Ducks, Chickens, & Reptiles. My Fiancé & I currently have 3 Cats (they love dogs- but if any issues - can be kept separate in their cat room to create a more comfortable stay for any pet that doesn’t like cats), between me & my partner- someone is always home to give attention to & play with pets. (Aside from when we go to the store or doctors appointments). Your pets will get the best care!!! Someone will always be home with your pets, either I am home or when I’m at work my fiancé Deanne is home & is also a huge animal lover. The only times someone isn’t home is when we’re grocery shopping or at an appointment. We have the rail trail right in our backyard that goes for miles- it’s a great trail to take dog walks on! We usually do that or use tie outs or the dogs leashes in our yard since we don’t have a fenced in yard, but your pets are never left unattended on the tie-outs, someone will be outside with them at all times
“Jialin and John took great care of our Noodle while we attended a friend’s wedding in the area. We are not NY locals and the decision to bring our dog on the trip with us was somewhat last minute, so we were so lucky and grateful to find people to care for Noodle for a full day on such short notice. We received many photos and videos throughout the day which reassured us that Noodle was having fun and in great hands! If we lived in the area we would 100% book them again, and we’re honestly bummed that they can’t be our regular dog sitters due to distance. We are very satisfied with the care they provided and we highly recommend them!!”

“Katherine is an excellent dog rover. She is a strong communicator, caretaker, and most importantly a good hearted dog person. Your dog is in great hands with her. When I’m in the area she will be my go-to person.”

About: I'll provide constant supervision of your pet. I enjoy interacting with animals. Although I am not a professional dog handler I have had a dog in the house for the past 12 years. I will do my best to provide competent care for your pet. I am currently retired from the Columbia County jail, after completing 23 years. I am a Navy veteran. My wife and I have twin boys who are all grown up and out of the house. As a result of this I have become a little bored. I would appreciate your consideration when deciding on who to entrust the care of your pet while you are away. You will be able to be rest assured that they are being taken care of. I am usually available all the time except for the occasional vacation I might go on. Weekends are no problem either. I am pretty much available year round. I like to hang out with my dog all day. Adding more animals to the mix is no problem. I like taking walks with them and I also have a fenced yard.
About: I’ve taken care of many pets in my life as I used to live on a farm growing up. I treat them all as if they’re my kids. I have a part time job as a nurse at a nursing home and I have two children in the home but over the ages of 15, other than that I have no young kids or other pets. I have a fenced yard with plenty of room to play! As well I have a park 2 mins from my home that I can take any pet I’m caring for.
“I can’t say enough great things! From the moment I dropped my dog off, they went above and beyond to make sure he felt comfortable and cared for. They kept me updated throughout the day, sent lots of photos, and made sure he had everything he needed—including feeding him his breakfast. It gave me such peace of mind knowing he was not only safe, but truly happy and well taken care of. The level of communication and attention to detail was phenomenal. You can really tell how much they care about the dogs in their care. Highly recommend this daycare to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving place for their pup!”

“Keegan is the best 😍 he shows my dog so much love and affection. He communicates well, is trustworthy and keeps me updated with photos. He is such an amazing person and we are so grateful to have him in our lives. I trust him with all animals.”

About: 🐾 I’m absolutely obsessed with cats—and honestly, that’s the biggest reason I’m here. Rover isn’t just a side thing for me… I genuinely love spending time with cats and getting to know all their unique personalities. At home, I care for three cats of my own, so I understand everything from playtime energy to quiet, independent moods. I’m also known locally as a stray cat feeder and caretaker, and I always keep cat food in my car—because you truly never know when a hungry kitty might need help. Caring for animals isn’t something I “turn on”—it’s just part of who I am every day. While cats are my specialty, I’ve recently been spending more time around dogs as well and have become increasingly comfortable and confident with them. I’m patient, attentive, and quick to adapt to different temperaments, whether your pet is energetic, shy, or somewhere in between. When you trust me with your pet, you’re getting someone who is: ✔️ Reliable & responsive ✔️ Gentle, patient, and detail-oriented ✔️ Experienced with multiple-cat households ✔️ Truly passionate about animal care I’ll treat your pet like they’re my own—with love, respect, and close attention to their needs. Whether it’s feeding, playtime, medication, or just keeping them company, I’ve got it covered. I’m also very flexible and able to travel, so feel free to reach out with whatever you need—I’m happy to make it work!! Pet care fits perfectly into my routine. I recently bought a house here in Albany, so it’s just me and my studies now — which means I have plenty of time and flexibility to devote to caring for your cats. As a law student, my classes are only on Mondays and Wednesdays, so the rest of the week I’m fully available to spend quality time making sure your cat (or cats!) get the love, attention, and care they need. In a client’s home, I focus on keeping your cat’s routine consistent and stress-free. That means fresh food and water on schedule, a clean litter box, and plenty of playtime and affection — whether that’s cuddles, brushing, or just quiet company if your cat prefers space. I always make sure to respect your home, follow your instructions closely, and send regular updates so you know your pet is happy and safe. If I’m welcoming a cat into my own home, I create a calm, cozy environment with safe spaces for them to explore or retreat to, depending on their personality. I treat every cat as if they were my own — with patience, attentiveness, and lots of love.
“This was my first time using Rover and, remarkably, my first time leaving my dog Maddy with someone in their house, and not my own. Lori was wonderful! She answered all my questions before the day, and answered so promptly too. Maddy and Lori's dog Rees were very compatible, even though Rees is much bigger than Maddy. When I came to pick up my dog, Lori said Maddy missed me and was a bit subdued, but that's to be expected for the first time. Maddy was perfectly fine, and happy to see me when I came to pick her up. I will be booking with Lori and Rees again. Practice makes perfect!”

I live and breathe dogs — training, sports, and overall enjoyment are my passion. Your pup will get safe, structured care, plenty of exercise, and personal attention while you get peace of mind and daily updates. We keep a very rigid structured routine. Our day starts between 6-7am, with initial let outs--group play if appropriate to get that morning energy out. Then we settle in for breakfast time, all dogs rest 30 minutes prior to meals, 30 minutes to eat, then followed by another 30-60 minutes to digest. This helps prevent bloat( while any size dog CAN bloat--most often occurs in larger/deep chested breeds, but I take no chances). We then are in and out throughout the rest of the day when dinner time commences between 5-6pm, repeating the same 30-30-30/60 routine. Last let outs and romps wrapping up around 10-11pm. I don't operate a free for all. Fully fenced in yard. Specifically zoned areas for potting and play. Daily house keeping services including vacuuming and daily crate wipe down and disinfection. Dogs are outside as much as we can be, under direct supervision weather permitting.
“Mark & Sylva were great hosts for my dog when we needed a few hours of care while my son toured a nearby college. They were welcoming and kind and did a great job with her. I'd happily book again if we're in Troy in the future. Thank you!”
“Patrick and Sara were awesome! They were very flexible with pick up and drop off times and took Zac for a nice relaxing walk in the woods which Zac absolutely loves! And it's nice that my dog had some friends to socialize and play with too. I would not hesitate to book them for future stays. Thank you!”

My dog had a great time on a last minute daycare visit with Logan, and was happy and tired coming home. Logan was extremely flexible and friendly and had a good setup for dogs to free roam in and out of the house into a fenced backyard. Will absolutely book again!

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NY ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
