“The second we turn into Sumer’s neighborhood, our dog starts whining in excitement—he LOVES spending time there and runs into her house to greet his friends without so much as a glance back to say goodbye to us 😂. He comes home happy and completely tuckered out after having such a great time w Sumer and her family—highly recommend for your pet-sitting needs!”

“If you have a dog that needs a little extra love or has a specific routine, Theresa is the person to be choose. She was so patient and attentive to our Old Dog Toby. Great commucation what’s happening and send pictures of our dog. She was indeed flexible when it comes to pick up and drop off time.. This is the second time that she took care of our dog when we’re on our long vacation. She is EXEMPLARY…”

About: I have an animal science degree and worked at a vet clinic. I’ve raised and trained my own dog and grew up with dogs my whole life. I watch my family members and friends dogs pretty regularly. I’m currently home during the day and have flexibility for home boarding or pop in visits to walk or let your dog out. I have one dog that gets along with other dogs as well as a cat that does well with dogs. I treat every pet like it’s my own. I have a lot more flexibility at my own home for dog watching but can accommodate house visits depending on what’s needed.

“Dolc’e loved Deanne. We were impressed that she messaged us several times with pictures while we were In Sicily. She allowed Dolc’è to sleep with her which made both of us happy. Definitely, a great caregiver. Highly recommend her for boarding your pet!”

“Alyssa sent me photos and updates while Nica’s stayed with her..Nica’s was very comfortable with her stay with her.I hope I will be able to leave Nica with her again.thank you Alyssa.”

I’m loving, dependable, and will treat your pup like family! ❤️ Flexible weekday schedule for walks, medication or drop ins. I’m available for flexible pet walking, including mornings, afternoons, early evenings, and weekends. I’m happy to work with your schedule and your pet’s needs. I provide loving, gentle, and attentive care in your home, following your pet’s routine while giving them comfort, companionship, medication care(if needed) and plenty of affection.

“Samantha was beyond amazing!! She was super sweet, and it felt as though Kai Puppy (my dog) instantly felt safe with her. Sam's house was clean and clutter free and seemed an excellent environment for our bigger puppy. Samantha herself was super friendly to my husband and me and listened to all our concerns and instructions regarding Kai without complaint (it was our first time leaving her, so we were nervous, but with Samantha, we honestly had no reason to be as she was great with Kai!). Samantha also sent updates on Kai's behavior along with picture periodically throughout her boarding which was terrific for my husband and I and kept us feeling very at ease having Kai away from us. Through her updates, we saw Kai playing and cuddling and having loads of fun during her stay. We highly recommend Samantha to anyone looking for dog boarding, and we will most certainly book her again in the future for our Kai Puppy!!”

About: Hi there! My name is Stephanie and have ample experience and tons of love for dogs! We have rescued a few pups with varying personalities and support requirements from partial paralysis, fear-aggression and anxiety. I have experience in dog walking, boarding and administration of medications (our own pup takes meds daily). I do have a 2 year old toddler at home along with an 11-year-old dachshund mix so any boarding requests should take that into consideration and will be vetted accordingly! I do work from home so your love bug would get lots of attention !
“Rosie was happy when I picked her up. The next morning she was back to her usual self. With some other sitters, it can take one to three days for her to be back to her usual self. So just from that I’d say Alyssa did a nice job.”

“Beth was a wonderful sitter for my fur baby. She was very loving and made my Tig feel at home. I could tell he was comfortable with her and so was I. Thank you for taking such good care of Tiggy I know he made a good friend. We will definitely have her watch him again in the future.”

About: I’ve covered private care, dog walking, training, vet settings and grooming over the past 20 years. Currently I’m the lead groomer at a local doggie daycare specializing in behavioral rehabilitation. This means dogs in my care get folded into my pack and taken along for our day. We have a 1/3 of an acre to relax on and can reinforce training or loose leash pack walks during their stay. As I work with dogs full time, we can easily fold 1-2 dogs into our daily routine. Structured feed times, crate rotation, daily training and lots of playing in the yard are already a part of our day. Dogs can come to work with me if necessary where they will have yard access for potty breaks and a private area indoors, or stay home with my older girl who prefers the peace and quiet of sun bathing, and midday breaks for walks or time in the yard. We have a large home and yard to accommodate everyone, employ structured meal times and crate and rotate when necessary so everyone has 1-1 time at home.

“Jennifer is awesome. My baby is always happy to go over and I’m always happy leaving her there. I can always go and not worry about my baby staying there because I know she’s very well taken care of and Jennifer and her family are very loving and animal lovers. Definitely would recommend Jennifer for sitting your fur baby.”

About: My husband and I are frequently taking care of our grand pups! Both 4 years old. We treat them like our own. One’s a chocolate lab, the other is a dachshund. I am an early riser. I get my morning exercise done then am pretty free the rest of the day. With the exception of an occasional appointment here and there. We do not have a fenced yard but would do daily walks. We have a path near our home. We also have lots of dog toys.
“Kota has anxiety and a lot of energy! Autumn was so great with her! She made sure she could go on walks, spoiled her with pumpkin lick mats, gave her a pretty bandana. I’ve already told family about her and how they need to book with her. She will definitely be who we use moving forward for our animals. Thank you again Autumn!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Caledonia home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Caledonia.
Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Caledonia sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
