“Christine has been checking in on my crazy puppy everyday at lunch time for over 6 months now - she has never once cancelled a visit! I love receiving pictures of my pup from Christine while I’m at work, my puppy always looks so happy :) My puppy was still potty training when Christine first began, and she was a rockstar with cleaning up any accidents that occurred.”

“Zola made sure she had all needed information before we went away, leaving her in charge of our dog. She took great care of him, lavishing attention on him. He was fed, walked and received his meds. Zola provided us with detailed updates including photos 😎 after every visit. The dog might like us to go away every weekend. Thanks, Zola.”

About: am a true animal lover from the bottom of my heart. I would meet so many people in the neighbourhood because I would always ask to pet and visit their animals. Starting when I was about 12, I would ride my bike to people’s homes to feed, empty litter boxes and of course show so much love to their pets; even with a slight allergy I couldn’t resist! As I became a teenager, I was commonly asked to stay at the homes belonging to my parents friends and my own coworkers because they knew I was trustworthy, so loving and would care deeply for their animals. I am a pet parent myself and know the importance of being able to trust those coming into your home and care for your beloved animals. I can absolutely guarantee I will show your pets so much love, and respect your home so you are able to have absolute peace of mind while you are away. I also have no issue caring for senior dogs or puppies, I am patient and wholeheartedly only want them to know love. I am currently a shift worker, so although my availability changes, there are only 2 days out of every week that I am not available unless it’s after 7pm. I work in a central location so I can drive to really any area throughout the city. I do not have children so I’m very flexible with times that I am needed as well as short notice requirements I will respect anything that is brought to my attention by my clients; whether it’s dietary restrictions, training habits to uphold, cleanliness, usage of gates, and anything else that is required of me to guarantee their trust
“Jodi was so great to have as a pet sitter, and made me feel very at ease while being away. I would receive daily, detailed reports on the entire visit and multiple pictures of them which helped immensely with missing them. She was also very kind to deal with and enthusiastic about all requests made in regards to tasks and upkeep during visits.”

“Daniella is an excellent dog sitter and I would not hesitate to have her care for our dog again . She is caring, professional and detail oriented. We were a little nervous about leaving our dog as we had never needed to do it before. Daniella was very understanding and kept us updated about not only his feeding , walks etc. but also how he was doing generally .”

About: I've been a dog owner of Labradors for the past 30 years, until recently. A few months ago I said goodbye to my boy Fletcher, and life is just not the same without a dog. I go to my family's camp in the summer, and would like to be able to take your dog with me for a good swim and hike! My house has always been a dog house. I do love to travel, so I know what it's like to have someone care for your dogs while away, and the worries and trust that go with such a responsibility. I am currently free and flexible to adapt to your dog's schedule. I am the only one in the house so I am able to be present for your dog and hang out with him or her as much as they'll let me! About: I’ve always had a soft spot for dogs—the kind where you smile just seeing one walk by. Over the years, I’ve cared for both spirited puppies and mellow senior dogs, and I’ve loved every stage in between. My parents brought home a beagle three years ago, and from teething to training, I’ve been part of his puppy journey ever since. More recently, I’ve helped care for my boss’s 11-year-old dog, Iggy, which gave me insight into the gentler pace and extra care older pups sometimes need. What makes me different? I approach every dog with curiosity—no two are the same, and I love figuring out what makes each tail wag. I’m dependable, warm, and genuinely enjoy long walks, cuddle breaks, and the little routines that make dogs feel safe and happy. Whether it’s playtime or quiet time, I adapt with heart and care. I currently work part-time, which means I have plenty of flexibility during the day to focus on pet care. I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs, so whether it’s weekday walks, playtime breaks, or weekend visits, I’m available and ready. My weekends are completely free, so longer stays or extra attention when you’re away is no problem at all. I care for pets where they’re happiest—right at home. Whether it’s walks, visits, or overnight stays, I keep things calm, familiar, and full of love. You can count on me to follow your pet’s routine, respect your space, and give your furry friend the attention they deserve. Safe, stress-free, and always reliable.
About: I’ve grown up with all kinds of animals, basically since day one. I’ve cared for family and friends’ dogs, cats, and small animals of all types and ages! I am currently a student working part-time, and I spend most of my time at home with my own cat. My balance of school and work has left me with a little spare time on my hands, which is of course devoted to my kitty for now! Experience with both pet sitting and babysitting has given me experience with caring for a live dependent in someone else’s home. I am flexible to heed any instruction and preferences that the owner has, whether watching the pet in their home or my own.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Thunder Bay
Christine was available last min and really helped our family out to check in on our puppy when we were tied up with work and activities. She kept him company and brought him outside to play in the backyard. He looked very happy and wasn’t as worried when we got home later than usual. It gave us piece of mind to know he was being well cared for

Madison took great care of our 2 cats while we were away! She's reliable, punctual, and a great communicator, and having her dropping in on our cats put our minds at ease. One of our cats is typically very timid, but the first time she met Madison she went to her right away for pets! I would recommend Madison to anyone and we would definitely book with her again in the future!

Brenda pet sat for me for a week while I was away, and she was wonderful. She was very communicative and followed all of my instructions perfectly. I truly appreciated the care and attention she gave to my cats, and it made my time away so much more relaxing knowing they were in such great hands. Thank you, Brenda!

We are so grateful to Samantha. Unfortunately our other rover sitter backed out only one day into our trip, so we had to scramble to find someone else while already out of town. Samantha responded right away and accommodated us, sending lots of photos and even helping us troubleshoot a couple of things with our house! She gave our kitties a lot of playtime and attention and reassured me that they were taking their medications. Will definitely have Samantha back in the future!

You can coordinate how much supervision you want directly with your sitter. While every sitter’s schedule varies, here are some examples of supervision by pet care service:
- Boarding or doggy day care: Many sitters can provide frequent companionship because they design their day specifically around the pets in their care or work from home.
- House sitting: Your sitter generally stays in your home for the requested duration, which may include overnight care. They may step out briefly to visit other pet clients, but your home remains their primary base.
- Drop-in visits or dog walking: These can be scheduled in 30- or 60-minute windows (and can be shorter or longer at your request) to help your pet receive dedicated attention and care during those specific times.
Interested in constant or 24/7 care? This service often incurs an additional fee but many sitters are happy to discuss this option with you.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Thunder Bay choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
