“I had the great pleasure of having Laura stay and look after my two dogs over this past weekend. It was my first time using Rover.com and Laura. She was everything any pet owner could hope for. She was friendly, engaging, totally immersed in the well-being of my dogs and she had a natural warmth that resonated with my dogs. She made me comfortable to be away from home and I quickly developed my trust in her. She took the dogs out for walks and runs frequently and ensured that they had full and active days in my absence. She also kindly shared videos and pics with me frequently so I could see what the pups were up to at home. I highly recommend Laura to anyone looking for a great person to care for their pets and home while they are away. The pups and I very much look forward to having Laura back again soon and on a regular basis.”

About: My love for dogs began at a young age, and throughout my life I have naturally taken on the responsibility of caring for them. From daily walks and feeding to grooming, hydration, and training, caring for dogs has always been something I genuinely enjoy. For many years, friends, family, and neighbours have trusted me to care for their pets while they are away, giving me valuable hands-on experience with dogs of all breeds, sizes, and energy levels. I have a natural ability to build strong relationships with dogs and often incorporate training into my interactions, including heel work, recall, leash manners, and fun tricks that help strengthen the bond between dogs and their owners. My goal is to provide reliable, compassionate, and professional care that gives pet owners peace of mind. I am available Monday through Friday for dog walking services, as well as 2–3 drop-in visits between 5:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. each weekday. I’m currently working part time and am available Monday–Friday, 5:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. for 1-hour dog walks or drop-in visits, including potty breaks, feeding, hydration, companionship, and a 15-minute walk. To ensure the comfort and well-being of my own three cats, I do not offer boarding services for dogs or cats in my home. Instead, I provide personalized in-home care through 1–3 daily visits, allowing your pets to remain comfortable and relaxed in their familiar environment. For dogs who enjoy a little extra adventure, I have a fully insured and safety-equipped 2003 Honda Civic with dog seatbelt restraints. With your permission, I can take your pup on enriching walks and hikes along the beautiful trails at Emily Provincial Park, providing both exercise and mental stimulation while keeping safety my top priority.

“Our dog is quite reactive, strong and can be a handful, but Loghan was great with him and knew just what to do with him! Great updates while Bowie was in his care as well! Very grateful!”

“Mature, professional and thorough - Avery watched our two dogs Leia and Kygo while she house-sat for us last weekend. One is anxious and the other can be a bit of a handful, so I was cautious with who I chose to leave them with. Avery took the time to ask so many questions, and get to know them and how to best care for them. She approached the job with compassion and it was clear she is extremely knowledgeable and comfortable with dogs. We have already rebooked a few more weekends with her for this summer- would recommend her to anyone!! Thank you, Avery, for making our trip away from home less stressful. Coming home to my happy and healthy babies was one of the best parts of the trip. :)”

“Awesome job. Rhonda is so responsible and communicative. Needless to say our animals adore her! Always leaves the place better than she found it. So grateful for you dear Rhonda.”

“Angie did a great job looking after all of our fur babies including our most sensitive boy. She kept in touch as needed and sent photos which we really appreciated. Would definitely have Angie back again to look after the farm:)”

“Ini watched our 17-year-old Puggle for 10 days while my husband and I went away on a trip. I was nervous about leaving him because of his age and because she was someone he didn't know. But it couldn't have been better. I loved getting the daily pictures and updates. I think he had the best time ever with her and when I came home he did not seem stressed at all at our being gone for so long. Ini was so professional and polite and we have already booked her for our next vacation. I would highly recommend her.”

“Gurleeen was a treat to work with. Very good with the communication and I felt assured that all was going well while I was away. My house has lots of plants and some fish etc and she was great to take care of all of them too Will definitely use her again.”

About: Hi, I’m Lina*! I have over six years of animal care experience in shelter and dog daycare environments. I also walked dogs as an independent contractor on top of my other work from 2020 to 2021. I am experienced with handling dogs of all sizes, ages, breeds, and abilities. My number one priority is keeping your dog as safe and comfortable as possible when out in the world – something many novice walkers take for granted! My own dog is dog/leash-reactive, so I have a lot of experience in systematically desensitizing and re-teaching her how to love going out for walks, as well as safely redirecting the occasional uninvited off-leash dog headed toward her. In my previous dog walking job, many of my clients had dogs with mild/moderate behavioural issues; most often lunging/barking at passing dogs. The regular clients I served were impressed with the improvements made over time. I love being able to make a difference and missed it so much that I’m here on Rover. I am certified in pet first aid, and my shelter and daycare experience has given me the skills I need to be comfortable handling just about any manner of medication for cats and dogs. I’ve been working outdoors for the last five years and am absolutely comfortable taking your dog out rain or shine. *I went by Lina when I made my Rover account years ago, but I typically go by my first name, Keegan, now! I will respond to either one, so don't worry! Updated March 2026: I currently have pretty open availability. I am prioritizing recurring clients with mild-moderate reactivity, but I am always interested in meeting new dogs (and cats!) and providing excellent care however I can. If you're interested in house-sitting services, please contact me to discuss; I only accept them on a case-by-case basis and I prioritize stays for clients with behaviourally/medically complex pets. As an alternative, I'm happy to accommodate multiple drop-in visits per day if you're away. I'll make sure your dog gets time to do their business outside, clean up any indoor messes, and give food and any required medications. Please note that my house sitting services do not automatically involve walks beyond several potty breaks throughout the day/evening, generally within fenced yards or just a few minutes up and down the street on a leash. Depending on your dog's care needs, this can be discussed further, but I generally charge more for adding full walks to house sitting jobs.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Peterborough
We can’t say enough good things about Maryam’s cat sitting services. My partner and I hired her for a last-minute trip we decided to take, and we were so lucky that she was available. She promptly came to the house to meet our fur crew and took the time to ask thoughtful questions, jot down notes, and take photos so she could keep all of our instructions and details straight. It was clear right away how attentive and organized she is. During her visit she made sure to spend time playing with our high-energy girl, while also respecting the space of our other two cats. By her second visit they had already warmed up and came to her once she had earned their trust. Maryam kept up consistent communication, sent as many photos as we wanted, and followed our lead when it came to how much we preferred to check in while we were away. We also came home to a lovely note, beautiful handmade florals, and adorable kitty report cards (all glowing, of course 🤩). It was obvious she had genuinely spent time with our cats, because the little details she shared about each of them were spot-on. We felt completely comfortable having Maryam in our home and caring for our beloved cats while we were away. We’re already crossing our fingers that she’ll be available the next time we travel!
Livia is AMAZING. Not only did Regal love her from the start, which, of course, was the priority, but Livia also communicated with me every day with photos to keep us satisfied that everything was going well. She figured out our girl's idiosyncrasies and did everything to keep her happy. She also went above and beyond her duties by filling all our water jugs so we wouldn't run out when we got home (our well is very low), which was a great help. I highly recommend Livia.

Denali did a splendid job looking after our 3 cats. They were relaxed and happy when we returned. The house was also nicely cared for and we will be asking her again to look after our pets. It was a delight to see pictures of the kitties all relaxed and happy in their usual favorite places! Thank you!

Keighley did a great job taking care of our four dogs! They really seemed to bond quickly with her. She was very responsive to any requests by our kids to see pictures of our fur babbies and also took great care of our house (including indoor and outdoor plants). She also did a wonderful pencil sketch of our dogs for when we got home and I am probably going to frame it! I would absolutely book her again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Peterborough on Rover is $53.28 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 114 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Peterborough. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Peterborough maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Peterborough walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Peterborough choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
