“Shorty had a wonderful day with Jesse, Natalie and Lucy. They have a great fenced in yard for the pups to sniff and play (Shorty and Lucy are still playing it cool but I think soon they will be romping buddies). Shorty loves affection and he was certainly spoiled here. They also went above and beyond, giving Shorty a little butt wash before I picked him up! I 100% recommend this household for your dog's care. They are lovely people, very dog experienced and of course they LOVE dogs!”

“Amanda and family are a fantastic place for your dog sitting needs. Shorty loves all the attention and he gets in some great walks! I totally recommend Amanda. She is dog experienced and takes great care of her furry visitors.”

About: I have loved and cared for animals with empathy since I was a child. I was always very drawn to animals, and felt a strong connection with them. Whatever you need, I would be thrilled to meet, and care for your fur babies. I do have a full time job but I've just been off with an injury so im home all day and I have lots of free time to take care of your fur babies. Walks, visits, house drop ins, doggie day care. I would be honored to look after your animals. I have a very large fenced yard, and 2 friendly young dogs for your pup to play with. They are never outside without me monitoring them.
About: Think of this as a boutique, in-home pet boarding retreat — not a kennel. With 30+ years of hands-on experience raising, hosting, and loving just about every creature imaginable — cats, dogs, fowl, rabbits, rodents, and even tortoises (yes, really) — your pet will be in wildly capable hands. Puppies who need gentle training? Seniors who need extra patience and TLC? Shy pets, quirky pets, “my pet is kind of weird” pets? I’ve met them all and adore them deeply. Our home is designed for calm, gentle pet care, nestled on a peaceful 100-acre forest property (freija.ca), which means plenty of fresh air, enrichment, and stress-free vibes. No kids, no chaos — just a quiet, loving environment where animals can actually relax. My husband and I both work from home, so your pet is never left wondering where the humans went. Someone is always around for companionship, playtime, belly rubs, or just existing together (a highly underrated skill). And then there’s Honey, our resident adventure cat and official Welcome Committee. He absolutely loves meeting visiting pets and brings big “friendly camp counsellor” energy to every introduction. If you’re looking for a sitter who treats your pet like family, understands animals on a deep level, and can handle everything from puppy zoomies to senior snoozes — you just found your place. 🐾💚 My husband and I both work from home, which means your pet gets constant supervision, companionship, and engagement — ideal for puppies needing routine, senior dogs who require extra care, and pets who don’t do well being left alone. There are no children in the home, just experienced adults who speak fluent “animal.” Our home is set up specifically for gentle, low-stress pet sitting, tucked away on a quiet 100-acre forest property (freija.ca). It’s perfect for dogs who love sniffing adventures, cats who enjoy calm observation posts, and pets who thrive in a peaceful environment. No crates by default, no overcrowding, and absolutely no chaos. If you’re looking for reliable, experienced, in-home pet boarding where your pet is treated like family (and maybe a little spoiled), you’ve found it. Your pet brings the personality — we’ve already got the love, patience, and forest vibes covered.
“Today was my first time using Rover and Laura was helpful and she and her kids took great care of my boy. I will definitely utilize her services again and look forward to my Jake playing with all her babies, fur and human.”

“Our dogs had a wonderful time with Rachel and Robert! We felt confident leaving them for the day after seeing the property and discussing their rescue work with other animals. They kept us updated on how the pups were doing and made sure our senior girl with a back problem didn’t take the stairs. Highly recommend and will certainly use again if we are in the area!”

About: Dogs have always been a huge part of my life—I’ve had them since I was young and have spent the last 12 years caring for others’ pets as well. I recently lost my beloved French Bulldog, who required a lot of dedicated care, so I truly understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet. I treat every dog like my own and make sure they feel safe, loved, and at ease. Because I’m completing my Master’s degree from home, I have a flexible and adaptable schedule. This allows me to be available during the day for walks, feedings, and ongoing supervision, ensuring pets receive consistent, attentive care rather than being left alone for long periods. I treat every pet like they’re my own. I know how important routine and a calm environment are, so I do my best to keep things consistent with what they’re used to—whether that’s feeding schedules, walks, or just how they like to relax. I’m very mindful about safety in the home and always make sure pets are supervised and comfortable. I also keep communication open so you always know how your pet is doing. These things were so important to me with my own dog.

“Nikol was very pleasant and quick to return messages. I was kept updated as to how our dog was acclimating which made leaving him less stressful. Nice property set back in the woods which is great for walking. Very accommodating for drop off and pick up times. We will use Nikol’s services again!”

“Lindsay was awesome! She took good care of June, and June got along famously with her dog Ty! She provided pictures throughout the day and kept me posted on how June was doing. Will use her again and again! Thank you Lindsay 😊”

About: I grew up with many pets in my house - 3 dogs and 2 cats! I went for daily walks with the dogs in my local ravine growing up. Each dog having it's own very unique personality and quirks provided me with a breadth of experience. I believe obedience and rules are the foundation of a well behaved dog. As well, a well exercised dog is a well behaved dog. Structure is very important and I will always make a dog work for their treat. I try to continue any on-going training for the dogs I am walking or sitting. I was finally able to get my own dog as an adult - who I have had since 2021. I rescued my dog, Arlo, when he was ~4 months, and have given him a loving home since! I worked with a trainer when I got to him and learned a lot about dog (and human) behaviours. I am home during the days with a flexible schedule, so walks at any time of the day can work. Generally a morning, lunchtime, or late afternoon walk are the preferred times. I currently have daily mid-day regulars that I walk. Depending on the dogs personality and suitability with other dogs, I walk with a pack or individually. If a dog is staying with me, I take them on a walk first thing if their owner hasn't already done so. This way, they are starting on the best foot forward. I have a dog at home, so I do an intro of the dogs on 'neutral' territory, there is a laneway and Bruce trail across from so I ask that their owner does a quick walk with the dogs and myself. I do potty breaks every 0-2 hours, either to go on a short walk, or ball throw. I also do 5-10 minute training sessions to keep the dogs entertained and stimulated. I also ask that the dogs bed and an article of clothing of the owners comes with them, so they have a space that is their own and familiar. This will help the dog settle in. Favourite toys or treats are also recommended.
“So happy that we came across this great App otherwise we wouldn't of known about Jessica. We feel very comforted knowing that our fur babies are being well taken care of. Thank you Jessica. We look forward to our vacation now knowing we won't have to worry about Holly & Sky.”

About: It can be so difficult to find somewhere you feel comfortable with to leave your pets. We treat your dogs as our own! We have two small Boston terriers who are both spayed and good with other dogs (aged 11 and 8). Lot's of affection, love, and care is given to our animals, and we have a country home with lot's of space and property for exercise and fetch! I work from home so am available to be home with your dog to be let out often. Feel free to reach out if you want to schedule a meet and greet! I currently work from home so am available to let dogs out frequently. We do travel from time to time but will list my availability accordingly. My dogs are not crated, however we are happy to use a crate if this is how your dog is trained. We do allow our pets on the furniture and to sleep in bed however again-whatever your pet is used to is what we will do. We do have a fence at the road of the property however this is not completely enclosed, so I would be putting the dog on a long rope or lead to be safe. I am out in the country with a large yard and bush, but do not leave the dogs unattended outside for any period of time-supervision always. We understand that every dog is taken care of differently and will follow whatever guidelines you are wanting for your pet.

Natalie was amazing with Casper! She took such great care of him and kept me updated throughout the day with pictures and messages, which gave me so much peace of mind. She took him on walks, made sure he was fed, spent lots of time playing with him, and even let him cool off in a kiddie pool and took him to the bay. It was clear that she genuinely cared about making sure he was comfortable and having a fun day. I would absolutely trust Natalie with Casper again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a caring, reliable, and attentive dog sitter or walker. Thank you again for taking such wonderful care of my boy! 🐾

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Owen Sound commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ON ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
