“Mindy had the best day ever with Sarah and her daughters. She received cuddles, walks, and lots of love all day….What a great experience! This was our first time using Rover and Sarah was very helpful in assisting me with the process. We will definitely do this again. I’m already planning a little getaway because Mindy thoroughly enjoyed her day too. Thanks so much!”

About: It can be so difficult to find somewhere you feel comfortable with to leave your pets. We treat your dogs as our own! We have two small Boston terriers who are both spayed and good with other dogs (aged 11 and 8). Lot's of affection, love, and care is given to our animals, and we have a country home with lot's of space and property for exercise and fetch! I work from home so am available to be home with your dog to be let out often. Feel free to reach out if you want to schedule a meet and greet! I currently work from home so am available to let dogs out frequently. We do travel from time to time but will list my availability accordingly. My dogs are not crated, however we are happy to use a crate if this is how your dog is trained. We do allow our pets on the furniture and to sleep in bed however again-whatever your pet is used to is what we will do. We do have a fence at the road of the property however this is not completely enclosed, so I would be putting the dog on a long rope or lead to be safe. I am out in the country with a large yard and bush, but do not leave the dogs unattended outside for any period of time-supervision always. We understand that every dog is taken care of differently and will follow whatever guidelines you are wanting for your pet.

About: Think of this as a boutique, in-home pet boarding retreat — not a kennel. With 30+ years of hands-on experience raising, hosting, and loving just about every creature imaginable — cats, dogs, fowl, rabbits, rodents, and even tortoises (yes, really) — your pet will be in wildly capable hands. Puppies who need gentle training? Seniors who need extra patience and TLC? Shy pets, quirky pets, “my pet is kind of weird” pets? I’ve met them all and adore them deeply. Our home is designed for calm, gentle pet care, nestled on a peaceful 100-acre forest property (freija.ca), which means plenty of fresh air, enrichment, and stress-free vibes. No kids, no chaos — just a quiet, loving environment where animals can actually relax. My husband and I both work from home, so your pet is never left wondering where the humans went. Someone is always around for companionship, playtime, belly rubs, or just existing together (a highly underrated skill). And then there’s Honey, our resident adventure cat and official Welcome Committee. He absolutely loves meeting visiting pets and brings big “friendly camp counsellor” energy to every introduction. If you’re looking for a sitter who treats your pet like family, understands animals on a deep level, and can handle everything from puppy zoomies to senior snoozes — you just found your place. 🐾💚 My husband and I both work from home, which means your pet gets constant supervision, companionship, and engagement — ideal for puppies needing routine, senior dogs who require extra care, and pets who don’t do well being left alone. It’s perfect for dogs who love sniffing adventures, cats who enjoy calm observation posts, and pets who thrive in a peaceful environment. No crates by default, no overcrowding, and absolutely no chaos. Your pet brings the personality — we’ve already got the love, patience, and forest vibes covered.
“Shorty had a wonderful day with Jesse, Natalie and Lucy. They have a great fenced in yard for the pups to sniff and play (Shorty and Lucy are still playing it cool but I think soon they will be romping buddies). Shorty loves affection and he was certainly spoiled here. They also went above and beyond, giving Shorty a little butt wash before I picked him up! I 100% recommend this household for your dog's care. They are lovely people, very dog experienced and of course they LOVE dogs!”

About: We’re a dog loving family of four with pugs and a St. Bernese! Our kids love all dogs and can’t wait to give cuddles and snuggles to all their new friends! I am a recess and lunch supervisor at school so I only work 40 minutes two times a day! I'm home a lot to give your dog(s) plenty of playtime and attention! We have a big backyard and I always supervise the dogs when they are out for their playtime! We also have a big front yard where I do short leash walks and live on a quiet gravel road for much longer leash walks. Dogs can be crated at night if that's the usual routine, or have their choice of beds to sleep in - my kids LOVE when dogs choose to cuddle with them at night!

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Hanover commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ON ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
