“Our first time using Rover, we were in Oliver for the Half Corked Marathon and found Odessa. She was kind and caring to our dogs and sent us updates throughout the day with photos. It was nice to know our dogs were being well cared for. Highly recommend.”

About: Always had pets growing up, always happy around any dog no matter breed or size. Big fan of hiking and would be happy to bring another dog in addition to my own. I have rescue and an older cat in the home. We do feedings once a day for the dog but twice for the cat. I hike twice a week with the dog typically (weather depending), and we usually do two walks every day. I don’t leave my dog on her own due to separation anxiety, if I go anywhere that doesn’t allow dogs she is happy enough hanging in the back of my vehicle or crate home for short term, or I will get daycare for her if it’s longer term. Currently I am able to provide pet care at your home, with possible exceptions for dog care at my own residence depending on the situation. I have no problem giving a pet medication if needed and no problem if you would like the pet crated as well. I am very open to discussing special circumstances if you have a dog that needs specific attention (medication, older, separation issues..) I am currently home full time so I have the ability to schedule my time according to your dogs needs.
About: Loved animals from early on. Patience and care with them while owners are away is something I can provide. Will treat them like family. Happy to help the animals. I work part time only a few hours a day, so I will help the animals with the rest of my free time. I will be able to take dogs for walkswith my dogs, or alone if necessary. I will closely and accurately follow the instructions that are left for me so that the pets have consistency of care they would expect from their own owners until Mom or dad comes to be with them again.
“I was super nervous to leave our dog with a dog sitter for the first time but Jennean was awesome and made us feel very comfortable that she was in good hands! She has a very trustworthy vibe. My dog can be reactive and high energy but Jennean had no problem with her. She also left the house really clean. Thank you so much, I hope you're available again for our next trip :)”

“Book Jennifer to spend a few hours with my pup before my trip to Mexico. Jennifer was great, we walked the dog and I left them alone for a while. Finley seemed totally comfortable in her company. She even sent me a picture to reassure me!. Feeling much more comfortable about going away and leaving him in Jennifer's care.”

About: Through fostering and adopting various different animals, I am trained in caring for rescue animals, young animals, and multiple animals at once. I am experienced in caring for dogs of all ages and sizes, cats and kittens, as well as bunnies. I have had dogs in my life for as long as I can remember, and am currently looking for more experience in pet sitting and spending time with more animals. I have grown up an animal lover, and am always looking to spend more time with furry friends! I am currently working part time. My shifts are usually quite short and I only work about 3 days a week, meaning I have plenty of time for animal care with a very flexible schedule. My backyard is completely fenced off to ensure for a safe environment for dogs. I know of many safe on-leash walking routes in the area, where I already take my own dog daily.
“My little dachshund Stanley loved Alyson from the second she walked into the house (and he isn’t like that with very many people). I felt very good leaving him with Alyson as I knew he was gonna be in good hands. Alyson was very attentive and communicative. I would ask her back in a heartbeat and not only that she is very lovely person. Alyson took very good care of my dog and my house was spotless when I got home. Thanks again Alyson🥰”

About: I’m a Chilean living in Canada and a lifelong animal lover, especially dogs and cats. I’ve always had pets, but for the past four years since moving here, I haven’t had the chance to share my life with one. I truly miss spending time with furry friends, although most of the time I visit two dogs that my friends kindly let me walk and spend time with. I’m usually available five days a week after 2:30 p.m., and on my two days off I’m free the whole day — but I’m flexible and happy to adjust if needed. I prefer to care for pets in their own homes, as the place I’m renting doesn’t allow me to have animals. This way, they also feel more comfortable and happy in their familiar space.
About: I am the first person most family, friends or neighbours call when they need someone to keep an eye on their home and their beloved pets. I have owned pets since I was young. So I am comfortable around dogs, cats, small animals and fish tanks. Apart from the usual diet and exercise expected, I have experience administering meds for cats and dogs (pills & needles) if required. I have fun trying to teach dogs how to dance! I frequently housesit for extended periods during the winter months, keeping your home safe and warm while you enjoy the warmth of a faraway beach. If I am housesitting I will be around all day, for other pet care I can do visits on a schedule that works best for you. I will follow any safety precautions set out by the owners. The safety of your pets, your house and my own safety are top priority.
“Ainsley stayed with our shy husky and our cat who takes a long time ro warm up to people. It only took a couple of days before they were sleeping on the bed with her. She provided update photos and videos often, making us feel at ease that our fur babies were being well cared for. Thanks Ainsley!”

“Milissa took great care of my senior cat, who has many special needs and quirks! She sent pictures and updates, which were very appreciated. My cat has a special eating schedule, and she also took good care of my home. I will use Milissa for overnights again! Thank you kindly Milissa!”

“Nathan was wonderful! He spoiled my dog with lots of walks, trips to the beach, love and attention. He sent photos and videos and was in communication the whole time I was away. And my dog just loved him! I would definitely book him again. I highly recommend Nathan for your pet sitting needs :)”

“I was so reluctant to use Rover but then I found Shelly! Now I’m reluctant to leave this review because I don’t want her to get too busy and not be available but she deserves a glowing reference from me. Shelly, is absolutely the best and I feel so blessed to have found her…she is experienced with all their meds, loving and reliable. I highly recommend her as a caregiver. A+++ (and I don’t leave this review lightly….I am very particular when it comes to my babies )”

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oliver maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oliver walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oliver choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
