Susan did drop-in visits with my senior Dal and when I knew I needed someone for a week to take care of his successor, she was the first person I thought of. Lonny got walks and cuddles from Susan, and had a a great time. Susan sent texts, usually with a photo and sometimes a video, daily and I knew my girl was getting the exercise and afffection she needs. It's stressful to leave a beloved pet in someone else's care, but Susan did an excellent job. I'll call on her again if need be and recommend her whole heartedly.

Myriam was a pleasure to work with. Her genuine love for animals was evident from the start, and our dog, cat, goats, and chickens were all exceptionally well cared for during our absence. She provided regular updates and photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We returned to a clean, well-maintained home and happy, relaxed pets. About: Hi! My name is Ashleigh, I’m a second-year politics student at Queen’s University. I’m responsible, easy to reach, and I take looking after other people’s pets seriously. I’ve grown up around both big and small dogs, so I’m very comfortable with different breeds and temperaments. I’ve also had my own cat for almost two years, and I’ve lived with and helped take care of a kitten as well, so I’m used to the different needs cats have. I’m confident with feeding, walking, medication, and just making sure pets are comfortable and well cared for while you’re away. I am currently living in Kingston full-time over the summer, and only occasionally go away to visit family, so I'm typically available whenever you need! When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I try to keep everything as close to their normal routine as possible so they feel comfortable. For drop-ins or overnight stays, I make sure they’re fed on time, have fresh water, get enough exercise, and get attention and playtime. For walks, I adjust to the dog’s energy level and make sure they’re safe and getting a good outing. If I’m staying overnight, I keep things calm and consistent so they’re not stressed while you’re away. I’m also happy to follow any specific instructions, and I can send updates if you’d like, so you know everything’s going well.

About: I have had my own cats for over seven years, as well as kept pet rats for over six years. I have experience with all kinds of reactive, senior, anxious, and shy animals, as well as furry friends who require medication or extra special care. I am available in mornings and evenings, as well as weekends throughout the day, and will work with you to find the optimal time to care for your pets, especially for time-sensitive care such as walks, timed feeding, or medication. I can accommodate multiple visits per day, and am often available over weekends and holidays. I provide professional, dedicated, thorough, and thoughtful pet care for a wide range of furry friends. On walks, I ensure that your dog is safe and cared for, and receives plenty of exercise and enrichment. I am happy to go for long walks, or visits to the dog park, and will work with reactive or nervous dogs to make sure that they are supported. For drop-in visits, I ensure that I follow any instructions or special care requirements for your pets, and make sure that they get lots of attention and love. I keep pet areas such as litter boxes or small animals habitats neat and clean, and ensure that your home is in tip top shape for your return. Following my visits, I make sure to send detailed updates about your pets (including photos!), so that you can rest assured that your beloved companions are in good hands.

About: I have been pet sitting since I was in elementary school for my friends and family and have loved them ever since. I enjoy every moment I spend with animals and love to hike so it’s perfect for me! I am a part-time soccer coach for elementary age children, and work evenings on the weekdays and mornings on the weekends, but other than that my schedule is pretty free! I have a fairly spacious house and yard! We are a smoke-free and caring home filled with animal lovers! We have a few pets but they are all calm and inviting! About: I have loved and worked with animals for over 10 years and am passionate about helping animals find safe, loving homes. As a foster parent with the Kingston Humane Society, I have helped care for and place many cats into their forever homes. I have experience working with cats with specific medical and behavioural needs, including overweight cats, senior cats, and cats recovering from dental procedures and surgeries. I have also worked with local humane societies to help raise funds for spay and neuter programs and have worked to support adoption efforts within the community! I have all a cat would need at my place! All you need to do is bring your kitty. Feel free to message me if you have any questions at all. I work from home, so I’m able to give your pet plenty of attention, companionship, or quiet alone time depending on their needs and personality. I always try to make pets feel as safe and comfortable as possible. With cats especially, I usually let them come to me first instead of forcing interaction since every cat is different. If they want attention and cuddles, I’m happy to give them lots of love, but if they’d rather have their own space, that’s totally okay too. I try to stick to their normal routine as much as possible and make sure they have a calm, clean, and low-stress environment. Through fostering, I’ve worked with a lot of shy, senior, and special-needs cats, so I’ve learned how important patience and trust are when caring for animals.

About: Hi! I’m a third year Queen’s University student who seriously misses having dogs around while I’m at school! Back home, I have six dogs of my own (yes, six lol! chaos, love, and fur everywhere), and I’ve fostered over 100 dogs throughout my lifetime with many different dog rescues. Basically, my life resume is just… dogs. I love pups of all ages, from high-energy puppies to sweet senior dogs who just want a slower stroll and some extra love. A few of my dogs have been through puppy school, where we both learned tricks, so I’m comfortable reinforcing basic training, routines, and good walking manners. I truly believe dogs are better than humans (no offence), and I treat every dog like they’re my own. Whether your pup needs a long adventure walk, a potty break, or just someone who genuinely loves being around dogs, I’ve got them covered. Your dog’s safety, happiness, and tail wags are always my top priority 🐾 Since I am a university student with a mix of in-person and online classes, that leaves me with lots of consistent free time between classes. My schedule doesn’t change week to week, and I’m free most weekends for walks, drop-ins, and quality pup time! When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always follow their routines closely so they feel safe, comfortable, and happy. I have experience with dogs of all ages and temperaments, from playful puppies to gentle seniors, and I treat every dog like they’re my own. I prioritize safety on walks, keep spaces tidy, and provide regular updates and photos so owners can relax knowing their pup is in great hands:)

This was my first experience with Rover. It was a desparate last-minute request for an in-my-home dog sitter. I am pleased at how well it all unfolded. Caitlin was punctual for the short notice meet and greet. I have three small dogs with various quirks and needs. Caitlin listened intently to the confusing narrative I offered about the dog's various needs. She made sense of it all and stated that none of it presented any difficulty for her. Interestingly, all three of my dogs were intruigued by Caitlin and did not offer the sort of resistance that they usually display towards strangers. The next day, Caitlin was again punctual, actually ready to start the assignment before I was ready. The dogs remembered her and I could see that they would be comfortable with her. She handed them all some of their favorite treats and the deal was sealed. I was only gone for one night but it all seemed to go very well. Caitlin sent me a photo of the pups looking very relaxed and she advised me of her departure time. The house looked cleaner than it was when I left which was a pleasant surprise, Dishes were washed and put away. The dogs bowls were all in their respective places with the right foods in them. Caitlin stripped the bedding making my return that much easier. I have nothing but positive feedback for this dog sitting experience. Thank You Caitlin !

FAQs for House Sitting - Kingston

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Kingston on Rover is $54.41 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 126 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kingston. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kingston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kingston walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kingston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.

If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.

If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
