“Jenny is such an amazing dog sitter! She was wonderful with our dog Rosy, both caring and competent, sending us pictures throughout the day showing how much fun they were having together. We would definitely have Jenny stay with Rosy again! 🐾 😊”

“Taylor took excellent care of my kitten Finn. This was my first time being away from him so I was nervous but Taylor was great about giving me updates on how he was doing so I could be at ease. Definitely would have her watch him again in the future!”

About: I’ve loved animals my whole life and have years of hands-on experience caring for pets of all kinds. I currently have a German Shepherd/Husky mix, and caring for her has taught me the importance of consistency, exercise, enrichment, patience, and understanding that every pet has their own unique personality and needs. I know every pet is different, and I take the time to learn their routine, preferences, and any special instructions so they feel comfortable and safe while you’re away. Whether your pet loves walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply having someone keep them company, I’m happy to provide the care they need. I’m dependable, patient, and treat every pet as if they were my own. My goal is to make sure both you and your pet feel completely at ease while you’re apart. I also love sending plenty of photo updates so you can see how they’re doing. As a Queen’s University student with most of my classes online, I have a flexible schedule and can plan my days around your pet’s needs. Whether it’s walks, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, or overnight care, I’m committed to providing reliable, attentive care. I’ll always communicate clearly, arrive on time, and keep you updated with photos and messages so you know your pet is happy and well cared for. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn their routine, personality, and any special instructions so they can stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible. I’ll make sure they have plenty of exercise, enrichment, fresh food and water, and lots of love and attention. I treat every pet like family and will always respect both your home and your pet’s routine. If I notice anything unusual, I’ll let you know right away.
“Myriam was a pleasure to work with. Her genuine love for animals was evident from the start, and our dog, cat, goats, and chickens were all exceptionally well cared for during our absence. She provided regular updates and photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We returned to a clean, well-maintained home and happy, relaxed pets. I would confidently recommend Myriam to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate, and professional pet sitter, and we will absolutely be booking with her again.”

About: I’ve been caring for our family pets and my own pets my entire life. I’ve provided a home for both cats and dogs with a variety of different personalities and needs. I’ve been trusted with walking, feeding and watching my family and friends fur babies on many occasions. My goal is that every animal in my care feels safe, comfortable, and loved while ensuring they receive the patience, attention, and care they deserve. I’m currently a student. I’m available between classes for potty breaks, walks, or some play time. I am also available after classes, time will vary based on my schedule, and weekends. I have two lovely cats in my apartment, one of which will be your pets best friend, and the other prefers to keep to herself. I will do my best to ensure your pet sticks to their regular routine, whether it’s in my home or yours.
“She was so easy to deal with. Came on time. Looked after our older dog and our little Maggie took to her right away. House was clean. This was the first time we left our dog with someone and we would hire her again! Thanks Anna!”

About: I’ve been around dogs since I was 12 years old, starting with my uncle’s English Shepherd who taught me how loyal and loving dogs can be. At 14, I got my first dog—a mixed breed who quickly became my best friend and deepened my love for caring for animals. Since then, dogs have always been a big part of my life. Every member of my family has a furry companion, from Chow Chows and Shar-Peis to Border Collies and Schnauzers, and I get along great with all of them. I’m comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and especially enjoy spending time with large breeds. Caring for dogs feels natural to me—it’s something I’ve grown up doing and genuinely love. I'm currently working in hybrid modality. Which give me the flexibility to take care of your pet, and walking a couple of extra times if needed when working from home. When caring for pets—whether in my home or my client’s home—I focus on keeping them comfortable, happy, and safe. I take time to understand each pet’s routine, preferences, and personality so I can make them feel at ease. I always follow the owner’s feeding, walking, and medication schedules closely, and make sure there’s plenty of playtime, exercise, and affection throughout the day. If I’m caring for pets in my client’s home, I respect their space, maintain a clean environment, and keep things consistent so their pet feels secure in familiar surroundings. When pets (for now small dogs only) stay with me, they’re treated like family. Regular walks, and lots of attention and respecting his/her space in a new house. I have a fenced backyard were we can play and have fun. I also love sending photo updates so owners can see how their pets are doing while they’re away.
About: I have been pet sitting since I was in elementary school for my friends and family and have loved them ever since. I enjoy every moment I spend with animals and love to hike so it’s perfect for me! I am a part-time soccer coach for elementary age children, and work evenings on the weekdays and mornings on the weekends, but other than that my schedule is pretty free! I have a fairly spacious house and yard! We are a smoke-free and caring home filled with animal lovers! We have a few pets but they are all calm and inviting! (A 2 year old cat and a 30 year old turtle)
About: Hi! I’m a fourth year Queen’s University student who seriously misses having dogs around while I’m at school! Back home, I have six dogs of my own (yes, six lol! chaos, love, and fur everywhere), and I’ve fostered over 100 dogs throughout my lifetime with many different dog rescues. Basically, my life resume is just… dogs. I love pups of all ages, from high-energy puppies to sweet senior dogs who just want a slower stroll and some extra love. A few of my dogs have been through puppy school, where we both learned tricks, so I’m comfortable reinforcing basic training, routines, and good walking manners. I truly believe dogs are better than humans (no offence), and I treat every dog like they’re my own. Whether your pup needs a long adventure walk, a potty break, or just someone who genuinely loves being around dogs, I’ve got them covered. Your dog’s safety, happiness, and tail wags are always my top priority 🐾 Since I am a university student with a mix of in-person and online classes, that leaves me with lots of consistent free time between classes. My schedule doesn’t change week to week, and I’m free most weekends for walks, drop-ins, and quality pup time! When caring for pets in a client’s home, I always follow their routines closely so they feel safe, comfortable, and happy. I have experience with dogs of all ages and temperaments, from playful puppies to gentle seniors, and I treat every dog like they’re my own. I prioritize safety on walks, keep spaces tidy, and provide regular updates and photos so owners can relax knowing their pup is in great hands:)

“Susan is amazing and provides excellent care for pets. Koda can be timid and take time to warm up and Blaze can be unsure when I'm not around. Both warmed up to her instantly and were happy and comfortable. She spent time playing with them and made sure they were loved. I'm so grateful to find someone I feel comfortable leaving them with and they will be happy to see her again next time! 10 stars!!”

“Would 100% recommendation Rachel. She took great care of our pets on our weekend away. Our house was exactly as we left it and our pets were happy! Reliable and responsible, I would have no trouble recommending Rachel and would certainly hire her again should the opportunity arise!”

“Kristina was amazing and patient with our fur baby. Updated us throughout the stay and put my mind at ease. Will definitely be using her from now on. Thank you again!”

“Britney was a very caring sitter for our senior dog with no hearing, special feeding requirements and socially skittish. Her updates, including pictures, assured us our dog was being well taken care of in our absence. We were very comfortable having Britney in our home. We would gladly use Britney in the future.”

About: I have loved and worked with animals for over 10 years and am passionate about helping animals find safe, loving homes. As a foster parent with the Kingston Humane Society, I have helped care for and place many cats into their forever homes. I have experience working with cats with specific medical and behavioural needs, including overweight cats, senior cats, and cats recovering from dental procedures and surgeries. I have also worked with local humane societies to help raise funds for spay and neuter programs and have worked to support adoption efforts within the community! I have all a cat would need at my place! All you need to do is bring your kitty. Feel free to message me if you have any questions at all. I work from home, so I’m able to give your pet plenty of attention, companionship, or quiet alone time depending on their needs and personality. I always try to make pets feel as safe and comfortable as possible. With cats especially, I usually let them come to me first instead of forcing interaction since every cat is different. If they want attention and cuddles, I’m happy to give them lots of love, but if they’d rather have their own space, that’s totally okay too. I try to stick to their normal routine as much as possible and make sure they have a calm, clean, and low-stress environment. Through fostering, I’ve worked with a lot of shy, senior, and special-needs cats, so I’ve learned how important patience and trust are when caring for animals.
“Piper was amazing! I was so impressed with how kind and confident she was regarding caring for a larger high energy dog. Would 100% rebook / reccomend ! Piper is excellent and her confidence and love of dogs was evident with how well Hank responded to her :-)”

We were so happy with MJ! They were very accommodating with all of our pets’ needs, and even went above and beyond to make things easier for us while we were away. I have one cat who gets very scared around strangers, which usually turns into hissing and hiding, but MJ was still able to successfully give her the pills she needed while we were gone. We would definitely recommend MJ and would happily have them care for our pets again! ❤️

Maya took care of my pup for about a week and she was amazing. She took him on long walks, handled him well off leash, and took lots of pictures to reassure me. For reference, he’s unneutered (as he’s a giant breed and can’t be for a few more months) and he’s 100lbs - truly astonishing work on her part. I’ll definitely be reaching out to her again!

Thalia was absolutely wonderful with our boy, Bohdi! Bohdi is a very nervous Australian Shepherd, so we were a little anxious about leaving him in someone else’s care. From the moment Thalia arrived, she was patient, caring, and incredibly understanding of his personality. Over the three days she spent with him in our home, she was able to help him relax and made sure he had a fun, exciting, and comfortable time. She also sent us lots of updates and photos throughout the days, which gave us such peace of mind and made us feel confident that we had made the right choice. Thalia is trustworthy, experienced, compassionate, and clearly loves what she does. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our special boy. We would absolutely recommend Thalia to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their pets and their home.

Runa was truly amazing!! She was so great with my cats and so attentive and respectful of all the details of the cats' routines. Runa is a very kind and friendly person. There was great communication from booking to the end of her stay. I got thorough daily updates which included videos and photos. She not only provided excellent care to the cats, but also took good care of our home. My cats loved her and it put my mind at ease to have such a professional and kind Rover taking care of them! I would not hesitate to request Runa again and highly recommend her!
Myriam was wonderful with Holly. She took her out for walks and sent me pictures showing just how great Holly was doing throughout the day! Holly even got a special treat of Canine Creamery…. Which I hear she loved ! I was very happy to have found Myriam and it seems Holly and Myriam will see each other again soon!!

Britney looked after my boxer in my home for 2 nights. She was very responsive, responsible and sent regular updates while we were away. I felt comfortable knowing he was being looked after so well. My dog is a little shy but Britney managed to warm him up very quickly!

Julia is very kind and caring. My dog had a wonderful time with her and felt comfortable very quickly. She was friendly, and I could see that my dog really enjoyed staying with her. I highly recommend Julia to anyone who is looking for a loving person to take care of their dog.

This was my first experience with Rover. It was a desparate last-minute request for an in-my-home dog sitter. I am pleased at how well it all unfolded. Caitlin was punctual for the short notice meet and greet. I have three small dogs with various quirks and needs. Caitlin listened intently to the confusing narrative I offered about the dog's various needs. She made sense of it all and stated that none of it presented any difficulty for her. Interestingly, all three of my dogs were intruigued by Caitlin and did not offer the sort of resistance that they usually display towards strangers. The next day, Caitlin was again punctual, actually ready to start the assignment before I was ready. The dogs remembered her and I could see that they would be comfortable with her. She handed them all some of their favorite treats and the deal was sealed. I was only gone for one night but it all seemed to go very well. Caitlin sent me a photo of the pups looking very relaxed and she advised me of her departure time. The house looked cleaner than it was when I left which was a pleasant surprise, Dishes were washed and put away. The dogs bowls were all in their respective places with the right foods in them. Caitlin stripped the bedding making my return that much easier. I have nothing but positive feedback for this dog sitting experience. Thank You Caitlin !

Sadie was so perfect! She accommodated a last minute dog sitting request & even fit in a meet and greet beforehand which was much appreciated. I was sent the perfect amount of pics/updates & she made sure my timing back was on track before she left, staying a little bit longer for me. Thanks so much Sadie!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Kingston on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 124 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kingston. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kingston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kingston walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kingston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
