“Maya was great! You kept me updated and sent lots of pictures! I really appreciated how detailed her updates were and what great care she took of my dogs! Will absolutely work with her again! 😊”

“Wonderful experience from beginning to end. She is reliable, trustworthy and updated us while away. Our pets were happy and adored Taylor. We enjoyed the holiday knowing that our cat and pooch were well taken care of. We will definitely have Taylor in our home to pet sit again. Thank you, Taylor.”

About: Hi! My name is Ashleigh, I’m a second-year politics student at Queen’s University. I’m responsible, easy to reach, and I take looking after other people’s pets seriously. I’ve grown up around both big and small dogs, so I’m very comfortable with different breeds and temperaments. I’ve also had my own cat for almost two years, and I’ve lived with and helped take care of a kitten as well, so I’m used to the different needs cats have. I’m confident with feeding, walking, medication, and just making sure pets are comfortable and well cared for while you’re away. I am currently living in Kingston full-time over the summer, and only occasionally go away to visit family, so I'm typically available whenever you need! When I’m caring for pets in a client’s home, I try to keep everything as close to their normal routine as possible so they feel comfortable. For drop-ins or overnight stays, I make sure they’re fed on time, have fresh water, get enough exercise, and get attention and playtime. For walks, I adjust to the dog’s energy level and make sure they’re safe and getting a good outing. If I’m staying overnight, I keep things calm and consistent so they’re not stressed while you’re away. I’m also happy to follow any specific instructions, and I can send updates if you’d like, so you know everything’s going well.
About: I’ve loved animals my whole life and have years of hands-on experience caring for pets of all kinds. I currently have a German Shepherd/Husky mix, and caring for her has taught me the importance of consistency, exercise, enrichment, patience, and understanding that every pet has their own unique personality and needs. I know every pet is different, and I take the time to learn their routine, preferences, and any special instructions so they feel comfortable and safe while you’re away. Whether your pet loves walks, playtime, cuddles, or simply having someone keep them company, I’m happy to provide the care they need. I’m dependable, patient, and treat every pet as if they were my own. My goal is to make sure both you and your pet feel completely at ease while you’re apart. I also love sending plenty of photo updates so you can see how they’re doing. As a Queen’s University student with most of my classes online, I have a flexible schedule and can plan my days around your pet’s needs. Whether it’s walks, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, or overnight care, I’m committed to providing reliable, attentive care. I’ll always communicate clearly, arrive on time, and keep you updated with photos and messages so you know your pet is happy and well cared for. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I take the time to learn their routine, personality, and any special instructions so they can stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible. I’ll make sure they have plenty of exercise, enrichment, fresh food and water, and lots of love and attention. I treat every pet like family and will always respect both your home and your pet’s routine. If I notice anything unusual, I’ll let you know right away.
“Susan is amazing and provides excellent care for pets. Koda can be timid and take time to warm up and Blaze can be unsure when I'm not around. Both warmed up to her instantly and were happy and comfortable. She spent time playing with them and made sure they were loved. I'm so grateful to find someone I feel comfortable leaving them with and they will be happy to see her again next time! 10 stars!!”

“Our pups received exceptional care from Kristina. We were updated with photos. A kennel was not an option and we were so happy that this went well. Definitely will be booking with Kristina in the future”

“Lily house sat for me through the weekend to watch over my little guy and she was great! Very responsive and dependable, she sent me pictures and updates regularly so I never had to worry and knew my dog was well taken care of. I would definitely book with Lily again :)”

“I can't recommend Josephine enough—she was amazing! Before our 14-day trip, she met with us so Ollie could get comfortable, and he loved her from the start. She kept us updated with photos and messages, which we really appreciated. Josephine went above and beyond, even leaving our home cleaner than when she arrived. We wouldn't hesitate to book her again. Highly recommended!”
“Britney was great with our cats! She was quick to communicate and kept us updated during her visits. We loved all the photos she sent and would absolutely trust her again with our babies.”

“Myriam was a pleasure to work with. Her genuine love for animals was evident from the start, and our dog, cat, goats, and chickens were all exceptionally well cared for during our absence. She provided regular updates and photos, which gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We returned to a clean, well-maintained home and happy, relaxed pets. I would confidently recommend Myriam to anyone looking for a reliable, compassionate, and professional pet sitter, and we will absolutely be booking with her again.”

About: I’ve been around dogs since I was 12 years old, starting with my uncle’s English Shepherd who taught me how loyal and loving dogs can be. At 14, I got my first dog—a mixed breed who quickly became my best friend and deepened my love for caring for animals. Since then, dogs have always been a big part of my life. Every member of my family has a furry companion, from Chow Chows and Shar-Peis to Border Collies and Schnauzers, and I get along great with all of them. I’m comfortable handling dogs of all sizes and especially enjoy spending time with large breeds. Caring for dogs feels natural to me—it’s something I’ve grown up doing and genuinely love. I'm currently working in hybrid modality. Which give me the flexibility to take care of your pet, and walking a couple of extra times if needed when working from home. When caring for pets—whether in my home or my client’s home—I focus on keeping them comfortable, happy, and safe. I take time to understand each pet’s routine, preferences, and personality so I can make them feel at ease. I always follow the owner’s feeding, walking, and medication schedules closely, and make sure there’s plenty of playtime, exercise, and affection throughout the day. If I’m caring for pets in my client’s home, I respect their space, maintain a clean environment, and keep things consistent so their pet feels secure in familiar surroundings. When pets (for now small dogs only) stay with me, they’re treated like family. Regular walks, and lots of attention and respecting his/her space in a new house. I have a fenced backyard were we can play and have fun. I also love sending photo updates so owners can see how their pets are doing while they’re away.
“Anna is an amazing sitter and treated my dog like her own - I felt completely comfortable and did not worry about my home or my dog whilst in Anna’s care - would definitely recommend her to look after your pets and home”
“Marissa was great. She was on time, attentive and Mya enjoyed her company. She sent pictures and kept me up to date while I was away. The house was kept neat and tidy. I will definitely be re-booking again.”

About: I've been the go-to pet sitter for family and friends since I was 16, caring for dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to senior dogs who need a slower pace and extra attention. I'm comfortable administering medications and following specific care instructions to help keep pets happy, healthy, and on their normal routine. I understand that every dog has a unique personality and needs, and I take the time to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you're away. I know how important it is to trust the person caring for your dog. My goal is to provide reliable, attentive care and give owners peace of mind knowing their pet is in good hands. I'm partially retired and have a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time and attention to the pets in my care. As a former dog mom, I miss the companionship, walks, joy and love that dogs bring to everyday life, which is what inspired me to join Rover. Whether your dog needs a walk, company during the day, or extra attention while you're away, I'm able to provide reliable care and accommodate a variety of schedules. I genuinely enjoy spending time with dogs and look forward to making them feel safe and comfortable. Safety and trust are my top priorities. I carefully follow each owner's instructions regarding routines, feeding, medications, and any special needs. During walks, I pay close attention to my surroundings and your dog's comfort level to help ensure a safe and positive experience. I understand that every dog is different, and I take the time to build trust at their pace. My goal is to provide consistent, dependable care so both you and your pet feel comfortable and confident.

About: I have had my own cats since I was 10 years old, so I’m very knowledgeable and familiar with cats. I work normally as a teacher, so I know that safety and following expectations are critical, and I will extend this to caring for your pet! I am currently working part time and going to school, so my schedule is moderately flexible. Depending on the day, I could be able to spend the whole day with your pet. If it’s a day where I have to work in person, the hours I’d be away would be 8-4. I have a two bedroom apartment with a small patio. The space is spacious with no carpet. I love to get outside and go for walks for my own health, so I’m keen to take your pup out for neighborhood walks too!
“We booked Shirley to take care of our one cat and we adopted a second cat before the day came. She was happy to take care of both cats. She did everything we asked and we came home to happy, relaxed cats and a clean house (as we left it). We will definitely ask Shirley to care for our cats again.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Kingston
Thalia was absolutely wonderful with our boy, Bohdi! Bohdi is a very nervous Australian Shepherd, so we were a little anxious about leaving him in someone else’s care. From the moment Thalia arrived, she was patient, caring, and incredibly understanding of his personality. Over the three days she spent with him in our home, she was able to help him relax and made sure he had a fun, exciting, and comfortable time. She also sent us lots of updates and photos throughout the days, which gave us such peace of mind and made us feel confident that we had made the right choice. Thalia is trustworthy, experienced, compassionate, and clearly loves what she does. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter for our special boy. We would absolutely recommend Thalia to anyone looking for someone they can trust with their pets and their home.

Runa was truly amazing!! She was so great with my cats and so attentive and respectful of all the details of the cats' routines. Runa is a very kind and friendly person. There was great communication from booking to the end of her stay. I got thorough daily updates which included videos and photos. She not only provided excellent care to the cats, but also took good care of our home. My cats loved her and it put my mind at ease to have such a professional and kind Rover taking care of them! I would not hesitate to request Runa again and highly recommend her!
Myriam was wonderful with Holly. She took her out for walks and sent me pictures showing just how great Holly was doing throughout the day! Holly even got a special treat of Canine Creamery…. Which I hear she loved ! I was very happy to have found Myriam and it seems Holly and Myriam will see each other again soon!!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Maya was awesome with my dog this weekend! She sent me lots of updates and pictures, which made me feel so much better while I was away. It was obvious my dog was happy and well taken care of. I’d definitely trust her to watch my dog again and would recommend her to anyone looking for a great pet sitter!

Britney looked after my boxer in my home for 2 nights. She was very responsive, responsible and sent regular updates while we were away. I felt comfortable knowing he was being looked after so well. My dog is a little shy but Britney managed to warm him up very quickly!

Julia is very kind and caring. My dog had a wonderful time with her and felt comfortable very quickly. She was friendly, and I could see that my dog really enjoyed staying with her. I highly recommend Julia to anyone who is looking for a loving person to take care of their dog.

This was my first experience with Rover. It was a desparate last-minute request for an in-my-home dog sitter. I am pleased at how well it all unfolded. Caitlin was punctual for the short notice meet and greet. I have three small dogs with various quirks and needs. Caitlin listened intently to the confusing narrative I offered about the dog's various needs. She made sense of it all and stated that none of it presented any difficulty for her. Interestingly, all three of my dogs were intruigued by Caitlin and did not offer the sort of resistance that they usually display towards strangers. The next day, Caitlin was again punctual, actually ready to start the assignment before I was ready. The dogs remembered her and I could see that they would be comfortable with her. She handed them all some of their favorite treats and the deal was sealed. I was only gone for one night but it all seemed to go very well. Caitlin sent me a photo of the pups looking very relaxed and she advised me of her departure time. The house looked cleaner than it was when I left which was a pleasant surprise, Dishes were washed and put away. The dogs bowls were all in their respective places with the right foods in them. Caitlin stripped the bedding making my return that much easier. I have nothing but positive feedback for this dog sitting experience. Thank You Caitlin !

Sadie was so perfect! She accommodated a last minute dog sitting request & even fit in a meet and greet beforehand which was much appreciated. I was sent the perfect amount of pics/updates & she made sure my timing back was on track before she left, staying a little bit longer for me. Thanks so much Sadie!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Kingston on Rover is $53.5 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 117 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Kingston. Enter your postal code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Kingston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Garbage & recycling: Taking garbage bins to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Kingston walking routes, the location of your favourite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Kingston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
You can find what you need to review a sitter on their profile before booking with them. Each sitters’s profile on Rover shows verified reviews, identity check, and ratings to give a glimpse of how their previous visits went. You can also use the Meet & Greet to walk through your home, identifying which areas, like your bedroom, are off-limits or not. Requesting details of your home security through the app can also be a good way to have your sitter keep you updated about your home.
If you have security cameras or doorbells, Rover asks that you disclose them to sitters before you book.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a veterinary professional or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means Rover Support will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
