“Very nice people and effective communication for any issues or questions about my dog, Pluto Gave me updates during his stay with them! I also would like to thank them for working with me around my late arrival for pickup and thank them for taking him in, even if it was a last minute request.”

About: I have raised two dogs (one large bread and one small bread) both from puppy to 16 & 17yrs old. I have had three cats (one still residing with me). Currently I dog sit two fur babies since 2020. In a week I am losing one of my buddies due to his parents relocating. I am already missing him and am hoping to make some new walking and cuddling partners. I work part time on weekends but can sit with advanced notice. Monday til Wednesday I am available for anytime on shorter notice. When I have your furry sweetheart I do not leave them by themselves at all,so I like to schedule when there is nothing to conflict with the time I have them. When in my house they have no restrictions from me, only what the parent wants. I have an outside bathroom area on leash for quick bathroom trips. I like to go for at least one or two long walks per day, weather permitting and your dogs abilities. I live in a walkable neighborhood and close to parks. When at your house I will follow whatever routine your partner is used to.
“This is the first time I’ve left my pups with a private daycare and I was nervous about it. I shouldn’t have been! My dogs loved it and they now run up the stairs to Alexis when we arrive in the morning. Alexis is a great communicator and I appreciate the pictures she sends. We are now regulars and I highly recommend Alexis!”

“Mindy provided day care for my aunt's dog, Sassy, while we visited Niagara Falls from Arkansas. Sassy had never been under someone else's care and my aunt was nervous about leaving her with a "stranger". But Mindy was wonderful and allowed us to come for a 'meet and greet' when we arrived in town the day before our booking. My aunt was still nervous about leaving her the next day because Sassy, being a Maltipoo, has separation anxiety. But Mindy knew taking Sassy for a walk right after we left would be a good distraction. She was also wonderful about sending pictures and videos especially that first day and that made us feel better about leaving her. By the second day Sassy was comfortable going straight to Mindy when we arrived. Also, she was very flexible regarding drop off and pick up times.”

“Priya and her family were so good to Koda. He loved spending time with them! She gave us updates throughout the day- great communication overall. I’d definitely have her watch Koda again. He was so happy with her. :)”

“Charlette accommodated our day care request last minute and took such great care of our dog! She was kind when we needed flexibility with drop off. She sent adorable pictures through the day, and our dog was so happy and tired on pick up. Highly recommend!”

About: I have loved dogs my entire life. Growing up, I was the one caring for our dogs and for family friends’ dogs while they were away. I have also fostered puppies and enjoy learning about dog behavior and training. I am currently studying full time for the MCAT, so I have a flexible schedule for the next three months and can give your dog plenty of walks, playtime, attention, and care throughout the day. My goal is to treat every dog like my own. I am currently studying full time for the MCAT, so I have a very flexible schedule and spend most of my day at home. This allows me to provide frequent walks, playtime, potty breaks, and plenty of attention. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, and I enjoy staying active with dogs while making sure they feel safe, happy, and loved. With me, you never have to worry about safety. When I am with a dog they have my undivided attention and we do as one. They are my main priority and you won’t have to ever worry.
“Toktam was a loving, sensitive angel when it came to the way she took care of our little Puerto Rican rescue pup Maisie. Maisie is quite wary of new people, but to my delight and surprise, the second day we dropped her off Maisie smiled a doggie smile usually reserved for only three family members (me, my daughter and my husband) and happily rushed to Toktam's front yard gate to see her! Wow! That was a first. I have had really good experiences with Rover but this one was the absolute best because even though I am a worry wart and very protective of our sensitive, formerly traumatized little street dog Maisie, once I met Toktam, I was immediately comfortable, confident and relieved that she would be in the best of hands for her four days of daycare. Thank you Toktam!”

“Lauren connected very well with my fur girl from the very beginning. Looking at the pictures that she share I could definitely see that being outside on the balcony with Lauren was one of her favorite times of her stay....as she took in the sights and sounds of the neighborhood along with catching a few rays!”

“Laura was amazing with my off the wall super energetic 3 month old springer spaniel puppy!! She is a super experienced trainer and was amazing at providing a balance between structure/close monitoring for safety and a lot of fun play time for my girl. She sent a lot of updates and advice that was very helpful for our training as well! Laura went above and beyond and even gave me tons of training tips outside of the visit because my pup is very difficult and has been struggling with separation anxiety. Best value out of a Rover stay I’ve ever gotten!”

“Sasha is very personable, great energy...and Homey seemed to enjoy his stay with her on Mother's day...nice to be away and know he was well cared for...lots of pics and updates....highly recommend.”

“From the very beginning, communication was clear and friendly, and I felt confident leaving my pet in Matthew and Brett’s care. During my dog stay, I received regular updates with photos, which gave me peace of mind and showed that my dog was happy and well looked after. It was clear that they genuinely cared about my furry baby, treating him with the same love and attention they would give their own. I would highly recommend Matthew and Brett to anyone looking for reliable, attentive, and compassionate care for their pets.”
“Julia was so sweet and helped Finney feel right at home. She was attentive to all his needs and even sent me pictures and updates throughout the day to let me know how he was doing. I’m so happy she could help me out!”

“My fur girl really enjoys her time with Melissa — Melissa is in tune with her needs and can read her cues well. I’d recommend Melissa to anyone who has a fur baby who needs extra TLC!”

“He’s a great person and a huge animal lover! Apollo loves him and loves playing with the other dogs. I highly recommend Jose for all your pet sitting needs, he’s the best!”

“Brooke took excellent care of our 16 month old poodle. Our dog does not like to be separated from us but at the end of the day when we went to pick him up, he was happy to see us but returned to Brooke for one last pet from her. Brooke is a gentle and loving presence and she also has such a calm and peaceful home. Brooke's own dog and cat were also gentle and patient with our rambunctious puppy. Brooke is a good communicator and stayed in contact with us and gave us updates on our boy. She made sure to give him his lunch on schedule and took him on walks. We are so lucky to have met Brooke because we know our dog will always be safe with her and in her home.”

Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Fort Erie commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they do not have any disqualifying offences.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in ON ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines such as the DHPP or DA2PP, Rabies, and Bordetella.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
