Miracles do happen! Thanks to a recent rescue partnership between Motorworks Brewing in Bradenton, FL and Shelter Manatee, a midwestern dog who had been missing for 3 years is about to be reunited with her family.
Motorworks released a new beer featuring adoptable dogs on the can art to support their local rescue’s effort to build a new facility. The story went viral, reaching all the way to Minnesota, where Monica Mathis immediately recognized her dog Hazel, who has been missing for years, in a Facebook story about the campaign.

Lost and Found
No one knows quite what happened to Hazel between going missing in Iowa 3 years ago and winding up at the Manatee shelter last year. Hazel was microchipped but her data had not been updated in the system. (Not sure your dog’s microchip data is up-to-date? Make yourself a note to have your pet scanned on your next visit. Everything you need to know about microchips is right here.)
Hazel Facetiming with Mom
Because the pit mix wasn’t getting a lot of attention from potential adopters in the busy shelter environment, she was chosen to be featured on a can. And what a lucky thing that she was! The Friends of the Manatee Shelter volunteer group is working out a transportation plan to get Hazel home for good! We love a happy ending!
As of this writing, 2 dogs have been adopted, Hazel is going home to her family, leaving just one more beer dog looking for her forever family! Candy is a mastiff mix who staff thinks will really blossom once out of the stressful shelter environment. You can see her ad here on PetHarbor.
