“Christine is absolutely wonderful. She takes such good care of the dogs, and they absolutely adore her! To top it off, my house always seems cleaner when I get home than when I left it!!”
“Sarah did a wonderful job with our five year old Boston Terrier. It was the first time we’ve left him with someone and were nervous how he’d react. Sarah did an outstanding job keeping with his schedule and handling his anxiety (and ours). Before staying she visited twice to get everyone comfortable and learn about our dogs’ specific needs and behaviors. During her stay she sent a lot of updates and photos and even indulged us with some FaceTime calls to say hello. By the end of day 1 they were fast friends. She also left the house spotless. I’m so pleased we found Sarah and would call her again to watch out furbaby.”

“Pam was amazing. She sent me daily pictures and updates. Her communication and preparedness was first-rate. She left my house better than she found it! I could not have asked for a better housesitter.”

“Holly is so great!! She responds quickly, is reliable, responsible and on time. She left my house immaculate and really bonded with my cat (who hates people) and my dog. Highly recommend!! 💫”

“We cant find the words to express how grateful we were to have Jennifer watch our two furr babies, full blooded Labradors. We have never left our kids with anyone before, so it was a pleasure to have her in our home with the kids for 8 days and had not one worry! She sent us pictures and updates daily, which was wonderful to see how happy the kids were. Even with it being cold outside, she threw the ball for them and played with them. Not only did she take fantastic job watching our kids, she kept our home in tip top shape, and I have the worst case of OCD and I would have her back with no questions asked!!! If you want the VERY BEST, go with Jennifer, you will not be disappointed, worried or concerned about anything. She also did things in my house like vacuumed, mopping, and ran errands for me. She has the most upbeat personality and super likeable! We hit it off right off the bat.”

“Jason did a great job watching our German shepherd and our Lab He came out to meet them before and stayed 2 days and nights. Jason is reliable and a great sitter we will definitely use him again”

“Andie did an amazing job taking care of our pup and making sure he didn't get lonely while we were traveling. She gave him lots of love and play time. We will definitely book with her again. We highly highly recommend her for pet and house sitting. A+++”

“Very friendly and responsive. Treated my dogs like they were her own! Kept me in the loop about everything and was not afraid to ask questions. I would definitely recommend and use again.”

“Lana was fantastic! With this being the first time I’ve had someone else stay and take care of my baby, I was nervous but she was wonderful! Sent me updates and pictures! I came home to my pup being happy and the house so well taken care of! We’ve already booked our next stay! :)”

About: I will love your pets like they were my own! I have always had animals from multiple sized dogs, to cats, to hamsters and birds. My friends regularly reach out to have their pets stay with me while they are on vacation. I have always had animals and actually purchased my home for the fenced in yard so they could be free and play! I catch up with all the dogs in the neighborhood as they walk by. I know all the dogs names, it’s the peoples names I struggle with. I have a fenced in yard with plenty of room for your fur baby to run & play. I have always had multiple dogs and a cat and miss them every day.
“"Rachel went above and beyond... Her photo updates and periodic texts would reassure me and absolutely make my day! In every photo, Kobe and Tucker always looked content with ears back and a look of pure joy on their face." Thank you Rachel you are one of a kind!!!”

“Jorden was very nice. He took good care of the dogs. There weren't messes to clean up when we got home. We were very happy with our choice to have him watch our pets. we would do it again.”

“Haily was awesome, she took great care of our dogs. She spent time with them in the basement during a tornado warning. My golden Is very afraid of storms and is not fun to be around during them but Haily took it in stride. She communicated with us while we were gone and sent pictures. Would definitely highly recommend her.”

About: I've been dog sitting for about 3 years and currently work at Camp Bow Wow, where I care for dogs of all sizes, breeds, ages, and personalities. My job includes monitoring dog behavior, feeding, cleaning, and making sure every dog is safe, comfortable, and happy. I'm patient, dependable, and experienced with energetic puppies and senior dogs. I treat every pet like they're my own and always provide loving care. I currently work part-time, but I make pet care a priority. On the days I'm working, I'll be there before and after my shift to make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, exercise, potty breaks, and love. With advance notice, I can often request days off to provide care. I'll always communicate my schedule clearly so you know exactly what to expect. I have over three years of dog sitting experience and currently work at Camp Bow Wow, where I care for dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities every day. I always follow each pet's routine, feeding schedule, medication instructions, and any special care they need. My goal is to provide a safe, clean, loving, and stress-free environment while keeping owners updated with messages and photos so they can feel confident their pet is in good hands.
About: I have experience with all different dog breeds and sizes. I know great helpful training techniques. Also, I grew up living with dogs up until now. I have a full time Hybrid job. I work from home 3 days a week and the workload has been fairly light. I currently live with no furry friends and am missing the connection with them. I want to hold off on adopting right now so I thought the best way to fulfill my wants of having a dog will be through this app. I have no fenced in yard or much of a yard at all. My home is spacious though, so there is enough room for your pet to be comfortable and play indoors. I have 3 reptiles that will stay in their tanks and do not cause disruptions. They also love watching other animals from afar.

Andie was wonderful from start to finish! It’s hard to trust someone with your fur babies, but she went above and beyond. She provided great communication and care for our 2 dogs. Would recommend to anyone in the area! Thanks again Andie! Looking forward to using you as a dog sitter again in the future.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Birds walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Birds maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Birds choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Birds. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 94% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
