“Elissa stayed in our home for a week to look after our three kitty girls while we were out of town for our wedding. She did an amazing job keeping watch over our fur babies, she sent consistent updates including photos. Communication was always clear and quick. We could tell our kitties were happy, well fed and played with and relaxed when we got home. Elissa also took great care of our home, it was just as clean and tidy as we left it! We couldn't be any happier with the service Elissa provided and will be reaching out to book her in the future when we travel. We would recommend Elissa to all of our family and friends. Thank you, Elissa!!”

About: Hi! My name is Taylor and I am a caring, responsible, and patient pet lover. I have experience caring for a variety of different animals including dogs, cats, rabbits, horses, chickens, and fish. I enjoy spending my time with animals and would love to my spend my time caring for your animals! Please reach out if you have any more questions and I would be glad to answer them. :) I am currently working remotely full time so I would be able to give your animals lots of attention in the mornings and evenings but I will also be able to check on them throughout my work hours. I like to meet with pet parents before staying in their home to learn their routine and how they care for their animals. I like to make a list of all the things pet parents tell me so I can ensure that I provide the best care for their animals.
About: I have taken care of dogs, cats, chickens & cows! I love animals and hope to have a sanctuary of my own soon! I hope to serve you soon! About: I have had pets my entire life! From dogs to cats, fish, and reptiles I have taken care of them all! I also work at a Vet Clinic in their boarding facility. Through this experience I am qualified to give medication to pets! I am responsible in taking care of my pets everyday! When I am not home with my personal pets, I work a vet clinic as a kennel technician. I am involved in animal care by feeding, walking and cleaning up after them. When I pet sit for a friend, I try to go by the house at least 3 times a day. If it is a dog, I walk them every-time I come by. I will check their food bowls and water bowls to ensure that they have all that they need. I will also provide playtimes with their pets whenever I am around.
“Abriana and Brandon once again gave us peace of mind as they dropped in on our senior cat while we were away! They are trustworthy and respond quickly to any questions or concerns we have had. We hope we can book with them many time in the future. ☺️”

“This was our first time using a sitter, and I must say how happy we are having Courtnie taking care of our baby! Normally, our baby will hide from people, but not with Courtnie. Animals know who is kind and gentle, and Courtnie is. We highly recommend her and look forward to having her for future needs. Thanks Courtnie!”

About: I love taking care of and playing with animals, and am looking to spend time with your critters, whether dog, cat, bird, or beast. I grew up on a farm around chickens, horses, dogs, and pigs, and I've always had a connection with animals and find their presence comforting. I can come and check in on your loved ones and feed them and play with them. I have my own dog whom I love very much and I enjoy showering any and all animals I meet with attention. I'm most experienced with dogs, but I'm a quick learner and enjoy learning how to take care of all animals. I have very little experience administering medications, but am willing to learn, if shown how or given detailed instructions.

She took amazing care of my four cats and my dwarf rabbit, ensuring they were loved and well looked after during my vacation. Jesse went above and beyond by also looking after my home. About: Hi! I grew up with dogs in the household my entire life and know just how much love, attention and activity are important. I’m here to provide for your pet when you need an extra hand. I’m free for over-night house-siting in Chapel Hill on weekdays and weekends. I have my own small young pup who is a sweetheart and comes along with me. When house-siting on Tue, Wed, Thu, I would be home with your pet from 6PM to 8AM. I charge a lower fee those days. Monday and Friday, I can come provide a potty break at noon. On the weekends, I can be home 70-100% of the day, depending on your needs. I think exercise and stimulation are very important! I personally love going on long walks and driving to the park. But every dog’s needs are different. I’m happy to take any care instructions the pet parent requests.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
