“Diama and Cody have a wonderful yard and home and were very welcoming to my 11-year old dog. I felt totally comfortable leaving her with them, and I know she was well taken care of!”

About: Hi there! I’m Barr, a wife and mother with a lifelong love for animals. We have a sweet 15-year-old Jack Russell named Indie, and I honestly can’t remember a time in my life when I didn’t have a pet. Animals have always been a huge part of our family, and our compassion for them is one of the reasons we chose a vegan lifestyle. I also worked as a veterinary assistant for two years, where I gained hands-on experience caring for pets and supporting their health and well-being. As a mom, I’m now looking to earn a little extra income while doing something that truly matters to me—spending time with and caring for animals. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your furry family member, and I will treat your pets with the same love, patience, and attention that I give my own. I look forward to meeting you and your pets! I’m a stay-at-home mom, so my schedule is incredibly flexible. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to start doing this and would be perfect for any spontaneous short or long trips! I have a spacious backyard, but unfortunately, it’s not fenced. To keep our dog, Indie, who is incredibly friendly with all animals, safe, I usually take them for three walks each day. We shower her with cuddles and treats from my husband, our baby girl and I each and every day ☺️
“A great experience for me and my dog. Alexis took great care of Hana and provided me with updates. I was very nervous trying to find a place for her. She gets overwhelmed when she's around a lot of dogs and enjoys her quiet/napping time a great deal. She even had access to her own room where she could relax undisturbed. Highly recommended.”

“We used Grant this past weekend for the first time. I was happy to receive videos/photos throughout my dogs entire stay to know he was having fun and being cared for. The dogs have lots of space to run around and my dog sure was wiped out when he came home. I’ll definitely be using Grant’s services again!!”

“We were gone for 2 weeks. George and Malia took great care of our girl while we were gone. They sporadically sent sweet photos and videos of our pup so we didn’t miss her too much. Highly recommend.”

About: We have a giant 1.5 acre fenced in yard, Perfect for your doggo to run and play while you’re away! I have been caring for animals my entire life and have had dogs and cats since I was five years old. I previously owned three dogs at once and have experience with both large and small breeds. I am comfortable administering medications, monitoring health needs, and providing attentive, responsible care. Whether your pet enjoys active walks, calm companionship, or extra patience and care, I strive to make them feel safe, happy, and well cared for while you are away. I love being present for my pet friends and giving them lots of attention, exercise, fresh water and yummy food. I am extremely safe and have a professional dog walking belt with all the tools I need when navigating walks. I’ve administered medication to elderly pets and recently neutered/spayed pets. I have a 1.5 acre fenced in yard with tall pine trees. It is very safe and a dog’s dream come true! Inside our home for night time sleep overs, we keep the couches covered and welcome all the pets into our lives with our cozy fireplace and 2,000 sq ft home.
“Our dogs had a great time! Nicole was super communicative and sent lots of pictures. Everything was above and beyond - definitely recommend and will definitely keep her in mind for our next trip.”
“Lainey loved her stay with Amanda! Amanda sent me lots of photos and kept in good communication. She took our dog out on walks and did lots of outside time with her. She was also flexible with pickup time for us!”

“Yolanda was awesome!!! She provided my dog a mini vaca filled with lots of playtime and outdoor exploring! I highly recommend Yolanda’s services!! She was just what I expected! kt”

About: A Lifetime of Loving Pets 🐾 I’ve had dogs in my life for as long as I can remember, and caring for animals has always come naturally to me. I genuinely enjoy getting to know each pet and understanding their unique personality , routine, and needs. As a pet owner myself, I also understand how difficult it can be to leave your pets behind when you travel. You want to enjoy your time away without constantly wondering if they’re okay. That’s why I provide the same level of care I would want for my own pets-attentive, dependable, personalized, and genuinely loving. I understand the importance of quick updates and photos to put your mind at ease. I commit to sending you a morning and evening photo and update each day. My goal is for you to feel completely confident that your pets is in caring hands and receiving quality care while you’re away. You should be able to enjoy your time away knowing your pets are happy, safe, and exceptionally well cared for. ❤️ I work remotely, which gives me the flexibility to provide attentive, hands on care throughout the day. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine, allowing me to give your pets the time, attention, and companionship they deserve. Whether it’s keeping their normal routine, taking dogs out for walks and playtime, or simply spending quality time with them, I’m able to be present and attentive rather than a quick visit-they get genuine companionship and consistent care throughout the day. Safety, Trust & Comfort 🐾 I take your pets safety and well-being seriously. I’m careful about following your instructions, maintaining their normal routines, and making sure they’re comfortable in their environment. I believe the little things matter-secure doors and gates, keeping food and medications properly managed, being aware of your pets surroundings, and paying attention to changes in their behavior or routine. Most importantly, I treat your home and your pets with the same care and respect I would expect for my own. I want you to feel confident knowing that while you’re away, someone responsible and attentive is looking after what matters to you most.

“Taylor took such amazing care of my puppy Midas! He is a golden retriever puppy and a lot to handle but she did such a great job. She is accommodating, easy going and cares so well for your puppy. Would recommend her to anyone!”

“Our girl Amber is a little shy, and she had recently lost her brother, so she was a little hesitant to socialize at first. Aron did a fantastic job of making her feel comfortable so she could slowly integrate into the pack.”

“Olena and Davyd are awesome! Great communications, great safe location for my dog “Happy” to play, rest and get some love. They are both knowledgeable dog lovers. It was quick to realize Happy was in good hands. The daily photos and videos were also welcomed. Happy loved the stay here. Thank you Olena and Davyd for taking such good care of Happy for me!”

“We boarded our 130lb Great Dane with Elisabeth for just over a week. He is new to boarding and has not been socialized with other people or dogs much. Elisabeth excepted this challenge and succeeded in making him comfortable. She also throughly dealt with an emergency issue that required vet attention during his stay. I highly recommend Elisabeth and her Swansboro Vacation Care for any of your boarding needs. Thanks Elisabeth for your care and effort while boarding our dog.”

“We love Mallory! She is very kind, caring, thoughtful. Your pup will be in great hands here :) She will take care of your fur baby as if they were her own. My pup Nelly had so much fun playing with her super sweet dog Mecho. He got lots of exercise and was a very tired boy when I picked him up. Nelly is already looking forward to his next stay at Mallory’s. Highly recommend!”

“Pam was awesome with Otis! Our normally anxious little fellow immediately warmed right up to her. Pam has a calm, relaxed personality and is very experienced with caring for dogs. She more than met our expectations, paying close attention to all of our instructions, taking Otis for daily walks and even allowing him to stay in his normal routine by sleeping in bed with her. Pam's home is very clean and tidy and yet also dog friendly and pet welcoming. She reported Otis took a real liking to her husband as well. Pam kept in contact with us, sent a picture and we felt confident that he was in good hands! We will definitely be booking Pam again. So glad we found her!”

“Amanda was great. I could tell my dog was happy and treated well while I was gone. She was very good about giving updates daily with photos and video even. I felt very at ease leaving my fur baby in her care. And she was very accommodating and flexible when we were a little past our pick up time. Would def send my pup to her again. Thanks Amanda!”

Caprice had a great time! She has a knee injury and Alexis was very good about making sure she didn’t get sore while there. This was my first time using a pet sitter and Alexis made the experience very nice and comfortable. She was great about accommodating all of our requests. Next time I need a sitter I will call her again.

A great experience for me and my dog. Alexis took great care of Hana and provided me with updates. I was very nervous trying to find a place for her. She gets overwhelmed when she's around a lot of dogs and enjoys her quiet/napping time a great deal. She even had access to her own room where she could relax undisturbed. Highly recommended.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Baxter home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Baxter.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Baxter sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
