“This was our first time leaving Lincoln with Jouseline, and she made it such a great experience. She was an excellent communicator, sending updates and photos of Lincoln eating, walking, and enjoying his day. She was also flexible with our schedule when we needed to pick him up a little earlier. Lincoln came home happy and well cared for. We’ll definitely book with Jouseline again!”

About: Ive cared for my own pets and many friends pets mainly dogs throughout my life. From puppies to senior dogs. Never met one I didnt love. I run my own small planning firm so my schedule is very flexible. I am available during the week day or night for walks and pet care. I am happy to come to your home and play with your fur baby and also attend to any of his or her needs, feeding walking petting medication.
“Lisa was amazing! We had to make last minute adjustments for a trip out of the country for my Ella to stay with her. She was patient and understanding. The best part is when I went to pick my girl up after not seeing her for 10 days, she was still herself. It's obvious that Lisa has a love for animals. I would recommend to anyone :)”

“Deb is a fabulous sitter for my two senior dogs! She paid attention to their cues and ways. She let us know how they did each day. She gave us a full report when we returned, too. They were happy to see us when we picked them up. Thank you for taking such good care of our family members, Deb!”

“Great experience! Clear communication and frequent updates/ pictures. Ashley and her family were a home away from home for our dog. Will definitely be using her again!”

She was amazing with keeping in touch and sending pictures. My dog looked so happy and comfortable to be cared for by her. I would highly recommend her and will def use her again in the future!!”

“Sarah was amazing. First time I was away from my dog and she made the entire process stress free. She came out and hugged the dig and took her right in to meet her family and dogs. She sent me lots of pics and had her ready when i picked up after my trip. You can tell Cinnamon felt at home and at ease. Will use her again and again!”

“Mark gave my pup amazing care! He cared and loved my dog as if she was his own! He is truly the best with his updates and videos and I could not be more lucky to have him care for my sweet Kali! Its amazing people like Mark that leaves you as a animal lover care free when your away from your pet! I thank you from the bottom of my heart Mark for such great care for Kali!!!”

About: I have cared for puppies, as well as adult dogs and aging dogs. I love them all and they all sense it when I meet them. I am retired, so I have a lot of time and a very flexible schedule. Also, I am up very early in the morning, and like getting an early start. I have a partially fenced yard, so would be more comfortable with your dog n a leash or inside the house if at my home.
“My 2 furbabies, Lacey and Bandit, loved staying with Scott and Amber for the week. Finding a replacement sitter on short notice was not easy, but once I met Scott, Amber, their 2 boys and 2 pups, I did not even hesitate in booking. I received plenty of pics to put my mind at ease and see my 2 pups were happy and settling in. They came home tired after all the playtime they had running after a toddler and 2 other pups. I would not think twice about booking with them again and would highly recommend them for anyone who needs a safe, friendly, active home to place their pups when they need a sitter.”

“Angelina was very prompt with communication, very nice and demonstrably caring. Bodhi came with a cold/cough and she took care of his getting his pills, sent photos. In those photos he clearly looked like he was enjoying his time there with Angelina and her son. Thank you, Angelina.”
“Laurie, her three kids and two dogs were very good with our dog. She send nearly daily photos and was very flexible with her approach. 5+ stars. We will absolutely use her and family again.”

“How lucky we are to have found Tokar to watch our Charli girl!! Tokar is warm and loving even welcoming Charli with her very own welcome sign on the porch when we arrived. We received picture updates and just knew Charli was having a great time. We look forward to seeing Tokar again!!!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Barnegat Light home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Barnegat Light.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Barnegat Light sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in NJ ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
