“I was nervous about leaving him with someone he didn’t know for a long weekend, but Bridget did an incredible job! She made him feel like he was at home and he got plenty of exercise with her dogs. She updated me with photos constantly and was very responsive. 10/10 would recommend and would absolutely have her watch Caesar again!”

“Beth was amazing!! Our dog seemed to love being with her. She sent a lot of pictures and videos, which was very comforting. She played with him a ton and treated him like one of her own. We will definitely book with Beth again.”

“I could not have asked for a better person to take care of my Milo. Meet and greet went great and I had no reservations with leaving him there for the weekend. She sent pictures and videos all weekend that showed he was having a great time with her dogs and family. I really don’t think he wanted to come home!”

“Kristen and her family were amazing with our 12 year old GSP “pup”. We’ve had a few bad experiences over the years (not through Rover) so it was wonderful to pick up a healthy and happy dog at the end of our trip. Kristen really knows what she’s doing and you can tell right away so that you can leave your fur baby and know they are in good hands. Would highly recommend them!”

“We enjoyed seeing our senior dog outside playing with other dogs in Eloise’s care. She has always provided the best care and makes sure his routine is followed. He’s a happy pup when he comes home.”
“Leslie has watched our 2 dogs a couple times. She’s very kind and our dogs love staying with her. She sends pictures and gives us updates regularly. Her communication is excellent. We HIGHKY recommend her.”

“What a great stay! Tami had great communication before and during the stay. She also sent lots of pictures of Faye playing with her two fun labs, Dolly and Bear . She has a great fenced in area for lots of play time and Faye felt right at home. They had a weekend of fun and Faye was worn out! Tami was flexible and willing to give Faye medicine as we had a last minute vet trip right before our trip. Will definitely be back!”

“Magda and her family are truly angels on earth. Their home is clean, calm, inviting, and happy. Rufus was instantly comfortable there which is no small feat with my nervous little dude. They treated him like their own during his stay, making sure he was warm, cozy, fed and happy, and she sent constant updates so I’d always know how he was doing. I cannot recommend them enough, and am so grateful to have found them on Rover. Thank you Magda and crew!!”

“My wife and I needed a trustworthy person to watch our 6 month old Labrador puppy. This was the first time she would be left alone and we were naturally a bit nervous. Meeting Danielle was a life saver. She responded to all of my correspondence quickly and thoroughly. We had a meet and greet at her home to ensure this would be a good match which is highly recommended. During our vacation Danielle sent pictures daily and texted with any concerns. She was attentive, even picking up on the fact she might have an ear infection. All in all, we had a terrific experience and will most certainly be working with her again.”

“I can't recommend Karen enough as a dog sitter! She has taken exceptional care of my dog, Django, and I always feel at ease knowing he's in her hands. From the moment I met her, it was clear that she has a genuine love for animals. Karen goes above and beyond, ensuring that Django gets plenty of playtime, exercise, and affection. She provides regular updates and photos, which I truly appreciate. Django always comes home happy and well-cared for after his time with her.”

“My baby’s second time at Sylvie’s and he had a blast! I love how he’s so excited to be around her and the other pups. I appreciate Sylvie so much for caring for Wally. Absolutely the best!!”

“My stella had a nice time staying with them. I received text each day telling me how the night went. Even when I came to pick her up they were on a walk with her. I will use there service again.”

“Jen & Larry are just the best! We always feel so relaxed knowing our pups are in their hands while we’re away. Our kids love seeing the daily pics/updates they send to us too <3 We’re so lucky to have found them!”

“Renae was super friendly and helpful. This was my first time using Rover for Sammy and I will continue to use this service. Renae gave me updates throughout the stay which was very reassuring. Sammy was able to play with Renae's pup which was very nice for him to have a friend instead of being alone at the pets hotel.”

“Alyssa was amazing!! My pup felt super comfortable the moment she walked into the house. Alyssa was conscientious throughout, with consistent communication and updates. My dog came home happy and tired :)”

“Spud had a great time with Enas and her family! She sent pictures and updates every day, made sure to keep his things in good order, and was accommodating to my flight schedule! We will definitely use her again in the future.”

If I could give more than 5 stars I would! Kacey took the best care of Minnie. I could feel her love for all dogs when we met and she loved on Minnie all weekend. We had some care trouble on the way home so the pick up time was later than planned and she was gracious and understanding. Thank you Kacey!!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Ballou home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Ballou.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Ballou sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in IL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
