“If I could leave Hugh & Mary 10 stars I would! This was my first time using Rover and first time leaving my 1 1/2 year old Toy Australian Shepard with people other than my family. The experience with Hugh & Mary surpassed my imagination. Right off the bat they are warm and welcoming. Just after 5 min of making a reservation I received call from Mary. EVERYTHING was just perfect. They treated my puppy like their own dog. Updated me with pictures all the time. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and they have definitely set the bar high for future sitters. And the cherry on top, they put a surprise gift in my puppy’s bag and found it when I got home. So sweet!!!! I recommend 100%”

“Fantastic dog sitters and dog lovers. We could tell our dog Raya was super connected with Patricia and Rick, and super well taken care of with lots of walks and snuggles. They really cared about her as their own and shared heaps of pictures throughout the short stay. We also appreciated that it was a last minute booking and they were able to take Raya in. If you’re in Big Bear and need a sitter, please check this beautiful family’s availability!”

About: ✨ A little name note: My profile says Leslie, but everyone calls me Nicky! My home has a backyard and a designated dog run, giving dogs a safe space to get outside, stretch their legs, play, and enjoy some fresh air. I’ll treat your pet like part of the family and make sure they feel safe, comfortable, and loved while in my care. I’m very outdoorsy, so if your dog enjoys adventures, I’d love to take them along! Depending on their needs and your preferences, I can offer neighborhood walks, lake walks, hikes, and other outdoor activities. Of course, I’m just as happy caring for a pup who prefers relaxing at home and getting lots of attention. I have a 5 1/2 year old son that would love to give your pup some extra love if that is something you and your pup are okay with. If not, that’s totally okay and I can keep them separated. As far as the pets on furniture- we usually do not allow that. However, if you have a pet that is more comfortable and request it, I can make an exception. Your pet will get plenty of love, attention, and companionship while they’re with me! They’ll have lots of interaction, plenty of opportunities to enjoy our backyard and dog run, and lots of time to play or relax. My goal is for every pet in my care to feel happy, comfortable, and right at home. 🐾❤️ I have a fully fenced yard and a designated dog run, giving your dog plenty of secure outdoor space to play, exercise, and relax. We do NOT have any pets at home, so your pet will not have to share a space and it’s safety, comfort, and individual needs will always come first.
“Amanda was very communicative, she would constantly send me pictures and give multiple updates through out the day. She cleaned and helped heal his eye when he had a small scratch. She had very open availability to work with my schedule, we had no problems. My dog was very happy through the entire time she was caring for him and would hire her again in the future, hopefully she would accept it. Thanks Amanda.”

“Lacey is an awesome pet sitter. I know my dog is being cared for and she sends pictures and updates. I never have to worry. My dog really loves being there. Thanks Lacey.”
About: I am currently a dog bather, used to be a dog trainer and have experience with multiple dog breeds and temperaments, I know how to approach timid dogs as well as puppies or older dogs. I am currently a dog trainer so I know how to care for dogs and their individual needs. My current dog has a lot of different medical needs as well. Depending on what the animal needs are, I make a specific care plan for them and follow it exactly. If it works, why change it? We always want what’s best for pets.
“Savannah was absolutely amazing with our dogs! She was so sweet, caring, and loving toward them, which made us feel completely comfortable while we were away. She kept us updated often and sent lots of photos, which gave us so much peace of mind knowing they were happy and well taken care of. It was such a relief not having to worry about them while we were gone. We would definitely recommend her and would love to have her watch our pups again!”

“Edith was fantastic!! We left our 16 year old dog with her for a week and were super nervous because we were hundreds of miles away, but Edith gave us so much peace of mind and constantly sent us updates with pictures and videos! Our little dog looked so content and spoiled! I would highly recommend trusting your pets with Edith! Thank you so much!”

“Melissa was the absolute best. She took the best care of Kevin and went above and beyond to help me with logistics. Certainly our best experience on Rover so far. Thank you!”

“Ceaser was awesome. My very skittish pup warmed up to him quickly. I always knew how he was doing with contact I received during the week I was away. Caesar is a great dog sitter, trainer and loves the dogs he cares for. Caesar is a keeper!”

“Heater was great with the pups. It was their first time with her and it went well. Heather is very communicative and provides lots of updates. She took the time to let us know how they were doing and asked great questions about their regular habits. Great experience and I recommend her services.”

“Thanks for sitting Kalea for a second time. We love you for taking good care of her. Enjoy Tahiti! Safe travels. I thought I would need a sitter. I forgot my sister-in-law is back from visiting her family. Be blessed.”

“Marinee took excellent care of my dog over the weekend. She was communicative and sent pictures and videos of my dogs stay with her daily. From drop off to pick up, the process was straightforward and easy. Marinee was very nice to work with. Will definitely use her services again! Thank you Marinee!”

“Juliann has a nice little boarding facility in her home. Juli took great care of my special needs dog (blind, neurological issues) while she was there. Juliann has the ability to keep her dogs separated from the boarding dogs or to integrate them depending on needs.”

About: Hi! I’m Erin, Graduate Gemologist & Jeweler, that works from home! I am a pet owner also. And love all breeds of animals. I have a mixed breed rescue dog (all shots and healthy) and two rescue cats. My three amigos! I have always owned large dogs, and am experienced with larger breeds. But I also adore the teeny tiny ones as well! If your pet comes to my home, they must accept cats as I have two indoor kitties. I have a large Enclosed yard they can run and play in, all day if they want. a large crate of needed , and I’m home full time. I can do sleepovers in your home, if not frequent, or extended stays. My pets and husband might get jealous! 🤣 *PLEASE NOTE: I DO NOT board cats in my home, only dogs and caged animals. Sorry. I work from home and have the flexibility of scheduling work around my fury friends! I am available to accept any pets starting at 8am on weekdays and weekends. We take 1-2 walks each day. Your pet is allowed on furniture, so my home will become their home comfortably. I have a large backyard that is fully enclosed. It is a brick wall of decent height but I will need to know if you own a reindeer that can fly over a wall! 🤣

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Baldwin Lake home-away-from-home, we recommend packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Baldwin Lake.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Baldwin Lake sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
