Katherine does an amazing job! Our dog is a bit difficult with new and unfamiliar faces, especially for house sitting, but he warmed up to Katherine almost immediately! This is our second time having her watch our doggo and 10/10, will use again!!! :)

Every day she sent us updates and photos so we could make sure they were okay. Her work made it possible for me to enjoy my vacation without worries. I am more than grateful.

About: My son and I have loved caring for and spending time with dogs over the past 10 years. We have learned how to help animals in all types of situations through watching and consulting with my sister who is a veterinarian. I can fit pet care into my morning as an early riser and finish my work in early afternoon, giving flexibility in afternoons and evenings. I have a fenced yard with crates available if needed for small-medium sized animals. In a clients home their belongings will be respected and maintained.

Melinda is the best!! She house set for us for a week...I have a very high energy dog and an older dog with a very progressive cancer and she is wonderful with both. I have never seen my dogs (and I have rescued dogs for 35+ years in 2 states) be so calm, happy and absolutely not stressed when we got home. Melinda walked the dogs every day, kept them on their medication regime and feeding schedule, and gave them cuddles and attention the entire time we were gone. She even took care of feeding my wild squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, possums while I was gone. I truly can not say enough about how happy I am with the care she gave my babies!!!!! I will definitely be using her again for all of our doggy care --drop in and walking visits, day checks and any overnights, and all long term house sitting. If you are looking for someone that is trustworthy, loving with the pets, will adhere to schedules, go above and beyond, and just an all around gem, then Melinda is your person!!

About: I have owned and taken care of animals since I was a young child. I grew up on a farm in Ohio where we had dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, horses and even a llama! As an adult, I have owned my own animals and they always live very happy, luxurious lives. Spoiled but healthy is key! I’m great at following directions, and proper care is at the forefront of my services! I currently work from home and am home pretty much 24/7 with the exception of appointments, errands and adventures so I have lots of time to give to not only my own animals, but animals in my care! I have a fenced in backyard perfect for a little doggie “zoomies” sesh, and a clean and pet safe interior of our home. I am home 24/7 so I am able to provide attentive and constant care to your pets, updating often with photos and even videos!

About: Hello! I'm a 24 year old college student looking to earn some extra income aside from my part time job and school work I already take on at the moment. I do surprisingly have some open availability and I would love to use that time to get to know your pet more! I love animals and I love caring for them. I have a cat but I've had many family dogs. I'm personally more of a cat person, but dogs are just as cute. I've dog sat a few times throughout college to earn some extra money, so I do have some experience. I'm attentive and detail oriented and I'll be sure your dog is cared for just as much as you care for them, if not more! Part time visits or overnight stays right now. I am available mostly everyday and most nights, including weekends. No boarding at this fine. I’m so sorry! Boarding is unfortunately not available at the moment. I’m staying with my parents and not in my own place. I’m so sorry! Next time, for sure.

Amiyah did everything we asked her to with regard to being home for our 2 dogs and 3 cats. She spent time with them outside and they seemed to enjoy her company. We really appreciated her being at our home overnight and the majority of the time we were away. She made it easy to get updates and let us know of any concerns or questions.

Absolutely phenomenal experience with Daniela’s pet sitting service! I was away for the weekend and needed someone I could trust to care for my 5-year-old dog, Penny and Daniela exceeded every expectation. She checked in regularly, made sure Penny had everything she needed, and gave her plenty of love and attention. I could tell Penny felt comfortable and cared for the entire time. Coming home to a happy, relaxed dog made all the difference. Daniela is dependable, kind, and clearly passionate about animals. I wouldn’t hesitate to book her again highly recommended!

About: I have been taking care of animals since I was 10 years old. Family, friends, neighbors, and strays. I have a love for pet of all kind. I have feed, walked, and played with them. I work full-time during the school year and want to add pet care to what I do during the school year and during the summers. During the school year I fit it in on the weekend. During the summer I have much more availbility. I take care of my clients pets by checking and refill food and water, exercise and attention. I do not bathe pets, But I do walk, play, and talk to them. Giving them the love and attention they need.

About: I have a dog at home and he can be difficult sometimes but I always take him on walks and he absolutely loves it. I've had him for 4 years and he is my little buddy. I am available any day. I feel I would really love this job. I love animals and would love to be able to meet new ones. I currently can't pet sit in my own house. This may change in the future but for now I'm only available to walk or watch them in someone's house.

About: I have had a deep passion for dogs since I was a young girl. My experience in dog care began in high school when I cared for a sick loved one’s dog. Over the course of that year, I not only gained a best friend but also developed a strong sense of responsibility and an appreciation for the joy and companionship that comes with caring for animals. Over the past 3–4 years, I have continued building my experience through dog sitting, and for the past two years, I have worked in a dog daycare and boarding facility. These experiences have strengthened my dedication to providing attentive, compassionate care while maintaining a safe and structured environment. I am committed to supporting both pets and their owners with reliability and professionalism. I’m available anytime after dropping my son off to school @8:30am. Or before/after picking him up from aftercare, by 5:30pm. I box on weekdays but can go around what ever is needed. At my home I have a fenced backyard, enough space to crate 1-3 dogs if need be. I want the dog to be as comfortable as possible, a home away from home. As for clients homes , they are to be treated with respect & cleanliness it is their safe space, same as my home.

Jenna was absolutely amazing with my boys over the 4th of July weekend! She was so responsive and sent a lot of pictures (without me prompting), which let me know they were in the perfect hands! Hands down recommend her for any of your pets/furbabies! But especially if you have an older border collie mix with a strange personality—she handled him with grace and love. Definitely book with Jenna!

FAQs for House Sitting - Auburn

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Auburn on Rover is $33.3 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 269 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Auburn. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Auburn walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Auburn maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Auburn choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Auburn. On Rover:

  • 95% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 100% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
