About: Caring for pets has been a lifelong passion of mine. As a teenager I took responsibility for my own cats, dog, and fish and became comfortable working with larger animals spending time with a friend's pit bull. When I pursed further education I was put in charge of raising animals for Historic Robbin's Crossing and learned about animal care and rights. Since then I have gained experience taking care of elderly pets and doing daily check in's for people in the Athens community. I am currently working a night shift position, but am happy to try and schedule to your needs. I am available seven days a week, especially Sunday, and with some heads up am always happy to come by to check in and go for walks. I am always happy to report in on how pets are doing and am comfortable in managing medication for animals. I do my best to be as accommodating as possible and meet pets where there needs are.
“Caitlin did a fantastic job with my dog Dingo! After his walk he snuggled up in his bed and took a nap while I continued my WFH day. Dingo is looking forward to more walks with Caitlin!”

About: I have had pets my whole life, including presently having 6 cats and 2 parrots in my home. I also have extensive experience volunteering with parrots of all sizes. I have also done some pet sitting on the side for some friends and family. I am open to various frequency of visits depending on you and your pets’ needs! I work full-time. My schedule is flexible, but I typically start at 9 am and clock out at 6 pm with an hour lunch. I try to let my birds out every day, and my cats are fed twice a day on a consistent schedule. I will follow whatever directions are left for me. I am comfortable providing medications, cleaning enclosures or litter boxes, walking, brushing, and a variety of other tasks.

“She is a very pleasant person and did very well with my dog. I am happy with her and I feel comfortable having her take Tulip out on her walk. I definitely will use her whenever possible.”
About: I’ve always had dogs my whole life and am able to build a special connection with them! I can’t wait to build connections with more dogs, cats, and other pets! I am currently a college student at Ohio University who has been using rover during the summer and wanted to continue through the school year!! I Don't have many in-person classes so my schedule is flexible! Pets are just as important as people and are family! I make sure to treat my pets and others with care and respect, while also making sure they’re having fun and behaving well! Being the owner of a high energy dog myself, I am well aware of safety considerations as well!
About: I offer more than just pet sitting—I provide personalized, compassionate care for every stage of your pet’s life! As well as clear communication! It is key to great pet care! I prioritize staying in touch so I can get to know both you and your pet to the best of my ability. My goal is to make sure you and your pet feels completely safe, happy, and well! I’m currently working part time- so I’ll have plenty of time to hang out and play with your animals, Pet care is a natural and fulfilling part of my daily life. I am available to pet sit any time, as well as on the weekends! :) Whether I’m caring for pets in your home, their safety and comfort are always my top priorities. In your home, I maintain your pet’s routine to minimize stress—following feeding schedules, exercise needs, and any special instructions exactly. I also keep communication open with regular updates, so you always know how your pet is doing.
About: Hi I’m Madigan! I’m a senior at Ohio University but am not currently enrolled in school so I have tons of free time. Back home I helped take care of and walk my dogs daily. I have a chocolate lab, bernese, and miniature pinscher. I also have dog sitting/walking experience outside of my own dogs. I have no problem walking any particular breed or size of dog. I already go on walks daily might as well bring along a friend! I watched a German Shepard and a pit bull this last summer which included walking, feeding, and playing with them. I exercise daily so fitting dog walking into my schedule won’t be a problem. I have plenty of time before/after class and work to attend to your dog. For my own dogs, I walk them once a day and would feed/water them. For clients, I follow the specified instructions left by the employer.

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my entire life, and not only that, but I work at a doggy daycare and boarding place, so I feel I have alot of experience. I also once majored in biological sciences pre veterinary, so I have a lot of prior animal knowledge. My highschool was also a career tech school for animals. I currently am working a second job, but only part time so I have a lot of free time. I am fully free during the week, and weekends I work 7-3 usually, but I also live in a home where we all love to take care of animals, so if they were to board there is always someone at home to look out for them. I don’t have a fenced in yard, however I do have a very safe neighborhood, so I am willing to take animals outside on a leash, on a walk, etc. I also have alot of open space in my home for play/ exercise. I have one dog who is a Japanese chin, very tiny very sweet dog, she gets along with anyone and is the most loving girl. I have a cat also, the sweetest cat you will ever encounter. She loves to play with my dog and greet new people who come in our home.
“Mia was amazing! I have four terriers ages 4 to 15 with different feeding instructions and needs for exercise. She was on time, sent pics and videos. The dogs loved her. I plan on using her for the rest of the summer when I go out of town!”

About: As someone on the autism spectrum, I do very well with animals because they understand non-verbal communication as well as verbal. I’ve looked after numerous cats of all ages 3 months and older. I currently on the job hunt, so I’ll have plenty of time to drop in and look after your fur babies. I can do any time of day as well. I have a car and can drive to your home daily to check-in on your pet. I live in a condo with close access to lawn space, but boarding a pet will probably not be possible. It depends heavily on whether or not they can get along with my cat. She’s very friendly, but mainly prefers to cuddle on the couch rather than running around.

About: I bring over 6 years of pet sitting experience, along with a year of hands-on service dog training. This background has given me strong skills in structure, positive reinforcement, and confidently working with dogs of all temperaments. I’m comfortable reinforcing training for puppies, providing mental stimulation for high-energy dogs, and offering patient, attentive care for seniors who may need a slower pace or extra support. Safety, consistency, and clear communication are always my priorities. In addition to training service dog pups, I’ve trained my own dogs using cues in different languages, strengthening my understanding of how dogs learn and respond to clear, consistent guidance. I don’t just “watch” pets — I actively engage with them. Whether it’s structured walks, playtime, or reinforcing good manners, I make sure your pet feels secure, stimulated, and genuinely cared for while you’re away. I have a flexible schedule and am available for morning, afternoon, and evening visits. I can accommodate weekday and weekend bookings and will communicate clearly about any scheduling changes in advance. Every pet deserves patience, consistency, and a safe space while their family is away. I’m attentive, reliable, and committed to providing loving care while maintaining clear communication and a secure home environment.
About: I have had pets my whole life and have always taken part in the care that comes with them. I currently have two guinea pigs that stay with me at school and two dogs that live at home with my parents! To go along with that, I rode horses for over 5 years which played a big part in my life and taught me how to properly care for large animals that require hard work, focus, and dedication. Fortunately, this has allowed me to connect with individuals needing pet care and gain knowledge and experience. While I am home for breaks I work at PetSuites taking care of every type of dog and managing behavior of large groups of dogs. I am currently a junior at Ohio University and am available when I am not in class! This semester I will also be working in a school for 80 hours as a part of my program so that will also be something that impacts my schedule. When trusted with another's pet, I ensure a safe and happy environment will be provided, allowing proper care. I have two golden doodles and recently lost a dog who was diabetic and required specific individual care. I spend a lot of time keeping my dogs active, healthy, and happy. Prior to college I rode horses which played a big role in my life. I rode 4-5 times a week and took time to ensure the horses needs were fulfilled.
“Rachel-my school is closed today so I am home all day. Also, if we get the snow we’re supposed to get next week - esp. Monday - will be iffy. I will let you know. Thanks for being with Ryman”

About: Hello! I am a dog and small animal lover! I currently care for my senior dog at home, so I understand the extra love, patience, and attention older pets need, whether it's administering medication, assisting with mobility, or just offering a calm presence. I have experience with both big and small dogs, and I’m comfortable handling different energy levels, temperaments, and routines. Whether your pet loves long walks, snuggles on the couch, or anything in between, I’m here for it! In addition to dogs, I’m also comfortable caring for small animals like guinea pigs and understand their unique care routines. I treat every pet as if they were my own, and I’ll always follow your instructions carefully and provide regular updates so you can feel confident while you're away. I’m a college student on summer break, so I have plenty of time during the day to give your pet lots of attention and care. My schedule is pretty flexible throughout the week, and I’m happy to work with you to find the best times for walks, play, or sitting! In a client’s home, I follow all care instructions closely to keep your pet comfortable and safe in their familiar environment. Whether it’s feeding, walks, medication, playtime, or just company, I make sure your pet feels cared for and not alone while you're away. I’m also respectful of your space, keeping things tidy and secure. For pets with special needs, like senior dogs or small animals/fish, I take extra time to make sure they’re safe and happy. I also send regular updates and photos so you can feel confident knowing your pet is in good hands.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Athens
Hi Rachel. I wanted to ask you to do something for me. As I am VERY allergic to poison ivy and oak, please don’t let Ryman hang out in weeds around my house or neighborhood. I get it from his fur and am just getting over a patch. I know he loved it but I really don’t want to deal with it all summer. Letting him sniff a bit, pee on it is fine; but it’s all over the hillside and fields around here too. Plus it may help avoid ticks on him. Thanks

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a walker. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your walker or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your walker questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and walkers on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement walker.
