“Katherine was amazing with my cat and was very nice. She was very attentive and did everything as instructed. She also wrote out everything that she did and as I have had bad experiences with previous sitters, this eased my anxiety. Would definitely recommend!”

About: I have been taking care of animals since I was 10. I have cared for a blind senior cat as well as a cat with hip problems, which required patience, close monitoring, and adapting the environment to keep them safe and comfortable. I currently help care for my friend’s senior dog, who also has hip and dental issues, so I’m familiar with administering gentle support, maintaining comfort, and being attentive to mobility limitations and pain cues. In addition, I have experience caring for younger animals, including kittens and puppies around 12 weeks old. This has given me practice with high-energy care, feeding routines, supervision, and basic early-life behavior management. Overall, I’m comfortable working with both senior pets and young animals, and I adjust my care style based on each pet’s specific health, energy level, and personality needs. Pet care fits into my routine pretty easily because I currently have a part-time job with a very variable schedule. Since my shifts change from week to week, I’m generally flexible and available most days with some notice. This flexibility allows me to adjust around pet care responsibilities like feeding, walks, check-ins, or overnight stays when needed. I’m also used to planning my time in a way that ensures animals are consistently cared for, even on busier days, so I can reliably fit pet care into my weekly schedule. In my home, I would make sure any pet is cared for in a safe, comfortable, and supervised environment. While my apartment doesn’t have a backyard, there is a fenced-in area nearby where dogs can run, play fetch, and get exercise. I also have a car, so if the owner is comfortable with it, I can take the dogs to a dog park for additional enrichment and activity. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize keeping their routine as consistent as possible—feeding schedules, walks, playtime, and any special care instructions are followed closely. I’m also very mindful of respecting the home itself. I was raised to always leave a place cleaner than I found it, so I make sure everything is kept tidy, organized, and exactly as I found it. Communication is also important to me, so I always update owners and let them know right away if anything seems off or if there are any concerns about their pet’s health, behavior, or well-being.

About: I’ve had animals my whole life! My old dog had diabetes so I am comfortable with administering medication for animals. I am very flexible with my time and hours as well so please reach out! I have a part time job on the weekdays that gets out after 10 as well as school, but my weekends are free so I am always able to dog sit Friday-Sunday! I will follow any bounties and rules for my clients home to a T and will make your animals my first priority! I want to create a safe and loving environment for your animals while I am taking care of them!

About: I have been caring for dogs from ages 6 weeks to 16 years old since I was 10. I am extremely passionate about animals and volunteer at local shelters as well as foster dogs and cats. I recently fostered a sick 12-week-old puppy where I had to administer medication multiple times a day. I potty trained her and leash trained her. After 2 amazing months, I found her a loving ome. I also have experience with senior dogs, helping to get around and helping them use the bathroom. I am my happiest when I am with dogs of any breed and any age. Pet care is such an amazing fit into my day! I have a lot of free time in the mornings for walks because I normally don’t work till 2pm:) I have been abe to build trust with every dog I meet. I am confident in my ability to make your dog used to me if they have separation anxiety and or dont like new people. I am able to crate your dog when needed and provide constant care and love. I was able to make my scared foster dog who hated men, obsessed with my male roomates. She was out of her shell in less than a week!

“Corra did wonderfully with my two babies! She was very professional, kind, loving, and caring. I loved receiving notifications and photos of each visit. I was happy that my older cat, Agustin, who is more nervous, loved Corra and her energy from the first moment. It's clear that she loves animals, and I can't recommend her enough!”

“Ann did an amazing job taking care of our two needy/behaviorally challenged cats for 10 days! They kept in contact with us, proactively communicated/asked questions, and left the house just as clean as when we left! When one of the medications began running out, I trusted them to help navigate the pharmacy and dose changes with us from afar. Ann is an extremely responsible and diligent pet sitter who we would 100% book again!”

About: I’ve grown up around animals my entire life, especially dogs, so caring for them comes very naturally to me. I’ve helped raise and train puppies, so I’m comfortable with basic training, routines, and lots of patience during those early stages. Back home, my family has a Great Pyrenees, a pit bull mix, and a beagle mix, which has given me hands-on experience with dogs of all sizes, energy levels, and personalities. What sets me apart is how much I genuinely love being around animals. Since I’m away at college and can’t have my own pet, I put that energy into giving every dog I watch as much attention, care, and affection as possible. I’m reliable, attentive, and focused on making sure your pet feels safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away! I’m a full-time student-athlete on the swim team, but I’m currently in my off-season. Most of my practices are early in the morning, which leaves me with flexible free time throughout the day. I’m very used to managing a busy schedule, so I’m reliable and happy to work around your pet’s routine and needs. I like to follow the owner’s routine as closely as possible, so your pet feels comfortable and stress-free. If you provide a list of instructions or preferences, I will stick to them and keep you updated along the way. Whether I’m in your home or caring for your pet elsewhere, I make sure they get plenty of attention, exercise, and affection. My goal is to create a safe, consistent, and loving environment while you’re away, and to keep you informed with updates so you have peace of mind.

If you have shy/anxious cats, Shelley is the sitter for you! We have 4 cats, and 2 are so shy that some of our family members havent even seen them. Within a couple days, Shelley had all 4 cats out and about, playing instead of hiding! She was communicative, compassionate, and thorough ! She was clearly very patient and calming with our guys, and we arrived home to 4 very happy and healthy kitties. Would definitely book again.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.

Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.

During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.

Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
