About: I’m a lifelong animal lover whose always had dogs and cats throughout my childhood and adulthood. I also have professional experience working at a doggy daycare, where I cared for 70+ dogs each day. That experience taught me how to handle dogs with a wide range of personalities, energy levels, and needs while making sure every pup feels safe, happy, and loved. At home, we have a good sized fully fenced-in yard where your dog can run, play, and get plenty of outdoor time. I also love staying active myself, so going for walks with the dogs is one of my favorite parts of pet care. Whether your pet needs some extra playtime, a good long walk, or simply some love and companionship while you’re away, I’ll treat them like one of my own. I recently moved to North Carolina from Massachusetts with my fur babies and husband for my husband’s career and to continue his college career at UNCW. Currently, I am not working and pet care is my only focus. I give all my animals/the animals that I care for lots of love and attention. Additionally, I give them lots of play time and exercise.

About: I’ve dog sat for friends and coworkers for 10+ years. I can assure you, your dog will get all the love while here in my care! We have a very energetic goldendoodle, that loves everyone and would love some playmates! I work not even 10 minutes from my house and am home daily on my lunch. I have a decent size fenced yard that allows the doggies to get out and run/play! If you are needing them to be crated, they absolutely can be but have an area they can run!

Andrew is fantastic with communication, takes Rupert on plenty of walks, socializes him with his adorable cat Poe, and gave him his daily medications! We feel so great knowing Rupert is with a wonderful caretaker when we go out of town! We have used Andrew as a sitter multiple times and will continue to do so!”

“I used rover.com for the first time to find a sitter for a weekend. I am thankful to have found Hilary for our German Shepherd puppy. She responded quickly to my first message and was very responsive throughout the weekend. I so appreciated her updates, texts and photos. Fortunately, she has a very sweet and well adjusted dog herself so that my dog had an immediate playmate and new Bestie. I strongly recommend Hilary for your pet! I wish I could give her more than five stars. I will definitely reserve with her again next time I am in town.”

“Brittany is more than a dog sitter. She involves her whole family in the care of our Daisy whenever our pup has been there . This gives us the assurance that Daisy is as comfortable there as she is at our own home. She gets plenty of exercise and stimulation there. When we drop Daisy off she immediately looks through the house for the kids to play with or for the sweet family cat for some fun. I can’t thank Brittany enough for the personal attention she gives and the precious experience Daisy has with her kids captured on awesome pictures sent throughout the day. We’d nominate Brittany for the best sitter award if Rover has one!”

About: I have always had pets growing up as a child and my love for them has grown into my adulthood even more. I have experience with many different breeds ranging from smaller dogs to bigger dogs. My fiancé and I rescued a beagle mix a couple years ago and she’s our baby! She is probably most sweet, happy, and quiet dog you could meet. We got her when she was 8 weeks old and could fit in the palm of my hand. Now she's a stubborn big back little girl that will do any trick you ask her if you have a treat in your hand. Overall I love dogs, I feel like you can never be mad when you have one. No matter what bad things they do, they win you back over by being cute and friendly. Pet care fits in my schedule every day of the week rather it's caring for my own pet, or taking care of someone else's. It would have to be either after I get off work or before I go in. On weekends anytime would work. How I/we care for our pets at home is by walking our dog 3-4 times a day depend on how many times she has to use the bathroom. And by also feeding her 2-3 times a day depending on how much she ate the time before. -We walk our dog in the morning before work, when we get home from work, and at night before we go to bed. Majority of the we’ll feed her after she goes out in the morning and then feed her again when we get home from work.

“Helena and her husband were wonderful to work with - kind and extremely flexible with drop off and pick up times. They live in a very nice community with lots of places for shady walks. Buddy had his own loveseat by the front door which he could lay on and look outside or at Helena and her husband in the kitchen or sitting room of their open plan home. I received regular updates and photos of Buddy in what really was a home away from home. From the initial meeting when I went to drop Buddy off, I knew he was in great hands. I would definitely have Buddy stay with Helena again and recommend her to anyone looking for an attentive loving couple to take care of you ‘fur baby’!!”

About: ***Update: I am currently only taking cats as clients due to my full-time work schedule. Sorry, but no dogs at this time.*** I can also help with other small animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, or hamsters! I love playing with cats, giving them undivided attention and lots of pets! I have had cats my entire life so know how to quietly connect with different felines and their personalities. I currently volunteer my time with a local cat rescue here in Wilmington, NC and often pet-sit for the owner of the organization when she is away (this means taking care of 15+ cats at a time). I know how to properly feed and care for cats and enjoy playing with them, snuggling, and giving them the love and attention that they deserve! I would love the chance to care for your cat/s while you are away! I work from home and do not start until 10am so my mornings are flexible. I am available for some afternoon shifts, although I prefer 6:30pm or later for evening drop-ins. I will follow your directions to ensure that your pet is cared for the same way you care for them. I will do my best to comfort your pet so that I can become a trusted friend of their's!

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.

Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.

Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.

During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.

Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Armour home-away-from-home, packing:

  • Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
  • Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
  • Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Armour.

Tip: You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.

You and your Armour sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.

Many sitters in NC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.

By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
