“Shawna was a blessing! We wanted to attend a family baby shower which was in SC. We live in Orlando. Shawna and I coordinated so she could sit at hotel with our 13 year old, diabetic, almost blind dog. She kept me updated, arrived right on time and took very good of our fur baby! I highly recommend Shawna!”

“We found ourselves in a bind two weeks from a major vacation with the current pet sitter. Veterinary care recommended Rover. We then found Chad and Katy. This was our godsend, they are very conscientious young adults. They are personable, caring and went over and above for our 14 year old dog!! We feel so blessed that this happened because they will be our forever caregivers for this pet and any future pets. Do not hesitate to have them take care of your pets!”

About: I've volunteered with Greenville County Animal Care since I was 10. I cleaned kennels, walked dogs, took dogs on trips, and helped get dogs adopted. I've also had dogs my entire life, including Pitbulls, Boston Terriers, Chihuahuas, and Jack Russels, and have taken care of them from puppy to senior age. I would love to walk your dog and help them get some exercise or take them on a trip somewhere! I have experience training my dog to do agility and numerous tricks, so I can help you with training as well. I have availability to walk dogs between 5-7PM every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. I have availability to do morning house visits at 9-950AM every weekday and evening house visits 5-7PM on Sunday-Thursday. On Fridays I can do afternoon house visits at 220-320PM. I can walk your dog in your neighborhood, my neighborhood, a park, or take them hiking, depending on what you prefer! I can also visit your home and feed your dog, play with them, and let them outside.
About: Years of experience in housepet and farm care, ranging from the biggest horse to the smallest fish. I was employed with Happy Tails Petsitting before moving out here to Lyman, where I sent clients updates every visit. Currently unemployed, will update if necessary. Animal care is my specialty, and employment options are pretty limited to me. Recommendations are much appreciated for top of the line care for others! I focus on feeding, medications, and play time for housepets, and farm animals as well. Just hit me with a list of instructions and I'll be all set!
About: I’ve cared for a wide variety of pets, including dogs, cats, and recently, ferrets—which I’ve been having so much fun learning about! I’ve grown up around dogs and cats my entire life and have spent the last 10+ years caring for them. I’m comfortable handling medications, special needs, and more complex daily routines, and I’m always happy to follow your pet’s usual schedule and care instructions. Whether your pet needs extra cuddles, plenty of playtime, or a little extra TLC, I’m ready to handle it all! 🐶🐱💕 I currently work for the post office 6 days a week and with my route i’m able to get off between noon and 1pm every day. I have plenty of time in my day to help your pets feel more comfortable without their favorite humans! I do not offer service in my own home, but i’m very happy to come over to your pets home. I plan to follow every instruction and routine that the owners leave for me. It’s important for me to accommodate each pets specific needs.
“Colby did an AMAZING job looking after our 2 dogs and cat. They were so happy to see her every-time she showed up and the communication/pictures about our animals was excellent. I would highly recommend her to watch after any of your animals!”

About: I have grown up with dogs ranging in sizes from a cocker spaniel, to a German Shepard. I have a special place in my heart for cats as well. I currently work as a flight attendant so my days available are a little bit spontaneous. However on the days that I am off you can rest easy knowing your pet will have my full attention. I unfortunately can not offer house sitting in my own home because of my roommates allergies. However, as far as walks and house sitting in your own home I’m a very scheduled person. If you have a schedule that suits your pet I will stick to it.
About: I love all dogs, big and small. I currently have my foster fail Enzo from the Greenville Humane Society so your little (or big) ones will have a friend to play with. I have a soft spot for pitties and chihuahuas. I used to share my world with two wonderful pitties (cannot wait to see them at Rainbow Bridge). I would walk them at least four miles every day or go hiking on weekends. Enzo is now two so we chase balls and play with toys on our land and will go hiking when we can. We like to paddle board and climb mountains! I have been the designated furbaby sitter for all family pets. I love caring for animals and would love to interact with your little or big ones. It’s a doggie world and I’m living in it and loving every moment. I am currently a Greenville Tech nursing student. I am free on weekends and like to do outdoor activities if the weather is cool enough. Pet sitting is a part-time job I love. In my clients home, I will make sure all rules are followed. I will walk their baby on a leash and try to avoid over stimulating scenarios. I will provide their baby enough exercise so they are nice and tired.
“I couldn’t be more pleased with Joann and the care and consideration my pets received while I was on vacation. Joanne went above and beyond my expectations and I will be using her services again and again and again.”

About: I have experience caring for dogs of all sizes and breeds! I have experience with mediation management and administration and am comfortable caring for medically complex or senior pets :) I work full time but do work from home about 75% of the time at least so I am home most of the day to care for your pets! I have two friendly dogs and two dog-savvy cats who get along with everyone! I can easily crate or separate animals into separate spaces in my home if the need arises
“Preston did a phenomenal job coming in to my home to drop in sir for our 3 dogs. Our sitter cancelled last minute and Preston stepped in and saved the weekend! He was great handling our dogs as they had never met. He was very knowledgeable, prepared, flexible, communicative, and took excellent care of our dogs and our home. I would not hesitate to book Preston again. Thank You Preston!”

“We are so pleased with the care our cats received. Amy and Jesus were communicative, dependable, and thorough. We would happily trust them with our pets in the future.”

“Irma did a great job taking care of the boys. It had also been a while since they met her so she made sure to come over to the house a few days before to re-introduce herself to them which I appreciated. She was great at communicating with me on her arrival and sending pics!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Apalache
Alex came over to walk and feed my Roses during a workday. She was professional, attentive and connected well with Rosie. I had committed to pre-prep dinner for warming, however in my haste departing, I had forgotten to do so. Alexandra was kind enough to reach into the fridge to the storage containers, prepared and warm dinner for Rosie. All went well and I look forward having Alexandra assist me again in the future. Thanks so much!

Elizabeth did an absolute amazing job taking care of my cat! She did exactly what was needed. She truly cared for my cat and gave more than what was asked every time! She updated me with lots pics and was very much in touch with me with any questions and updates. I would highly recommend her to anybody!!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee, which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet.
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
