“Mateo was so wonderful with our dogs! He handled all 4 like a pro, even the little one that is blind and requires insulin injections after each meal. We will definitely be calling him back for all our petsitting needs!”

“Amanda took the time to get to know our senior cat and make her as comfortable as possible when administering her meds. We appreciate Amanda's respect for our special girl and all the patience and care she provided! She was also flexible with some last minute travel plan changes due to the weather.”

“Can I leave 15 stars??? Kay is fantastic. We had three of our regular sitters cancel on us for our trip over Thanksgiving. We were about to have to cancel our trip. Kay came in and took such great care of our girls, including our recent rescue that had some behavioral issues. She took great pictures and gave us updates on our babies. She even fed our fish and took in our black Friday packages. I'll be using her every time we have to leave our babies at home.”

About: I have had animals my entire life, so 30+ years of experience. I know that your fur babies are a part of your family. You can count on me to make sure they feel at home. I am currently not working so my availability is usually wide open! I would love to turn petting sitting into a full time gig, as animals have always been a way to my heart. I have a fenced in back yard. I have two extremely friendly medium sized dogs (both are spayed/neutered). I also have 2 playful cats that interact very well with the pups. All of our pets are inside only.
“Denise was fantastic!! She always sent me pics at almost every visit of my girls while I was away. That was wonderful since I hated leaving them but trying to deal with dog traveling and then accommodations. It is just so much easier to have a pet sitter come by 3 times a day for breakfast, dinner and at the end of the night to bring them into the house overnight so my neighbors would not complain about any dog barking. I really believe in pet sitters and again Denise had everything under control. I can't stand boarding my dogs ever since I did one time and then my dog slept in the closet from then on. It is so much cheaper too and the dogs are still at their home. They do not have to be traumatized by sitting in a kennel almost 24/7!! It is also so much cheaper, especially if you have more than one pet.”

I’m a full-time stay-at-home wife and doggy mom, so my schedule is very flexible. I’m always available to walk, play with, and care for your pets! care for pets with love and attention, following routines, walks, playtime, and cuddles. Safe, happy, and comfortable, so your furry friends feel right at home!
“Anna is fantastic!! She treated Thor (our cat) like he was her own. She gave great updates on him when she came to check on him and also great photos. This was our first time using Rover and we lucked out and won the lottery choosing Anna! We definitely recommend her and will ask her to check on Thor again.”

About: My eldest furry companion is now 14 and I love her so much , my family has always had pets around so since I was little it has been in my nature to love and care for them. Currently I am a full time student excited to graduate in the spring. Any and all jobs on rover would really help me not only unwind from my studies but also pay for them. I’m able to provide long walks and runs. Maintain a scheduled feeding time as well as a comfortable environment. I also prioritize maintaining a mentally stimulating environment.
About: I've been taking care of dogs since I was 7 years old. Which has lead me into the field of being a veterinarian technician. Which I have been doing going on 6 years now. Now looking for another aspect of the vet field of helping your fur baby or babies. I do work full time but have Friday-sunday off as my regular schedule. So I'm fully available to take care or stay overnight for pet care for those quick weekend getaways. I'm very aware of anything a pet maybe going through with my certification as a veterinarian technician . I'm very aware of how to give meds and etc.
About: I have my own dachshund that I take care of on a daily basis but also have 3 other family dogs tha range from a dachshund to a german shepherd. I’ve always helped taken care of the family dogs growing up. I work 3 times a week and have school but my schedule is very flexible and I can adjust it around based on what I have going on. Any pet in my home that’s not mine would be treated like my own pets. They would be taken care of all the time. The same would apply in someone else’s home. I would follow a schedule feeding and letting the pets out just like I do with my own.
“Great sitter who does a great job with animals big and small. John has watched our dogs, cats, bird, chickens, and box turtle. He’s even taken care of our flowers & plants. Highly recommend! Our pets love him. :)”

About: Caring for dogs has been a huge part of my everyday life. I have three dogs of my own, so I’m very familiar with daily routines like walking, feeding, playtime, and giving dogs the attention and patience they need. I’ve also dog-sat for family members, which has helped me become comfortable caring for dogs with different personalities and energy levels. What sets me apart is how much I truly love dogs — I treat every dog like they’re my own, making sure they feel safe, happy, and well cared for. I’m reliable, attentive, and genuinely enjoy spending time with animals, whether that means a calm walk, playtime, or just keeping them company. My weekly routine is always the same and includes a lot of availability for me to fit pet sitting/walking into my schedule. I prioritize my time with pets!! When caring for pets in their own homes, I make it a priority to keep their routine and environment as normal and comfortable as possible. I follow all instructions carefully, respect your space, and make sure your pet feels safe, calm, and well cared for. I take my time during visits, give plenty of attention and affection, and always treat both your home and your pet with care and respect.

“Christi did a very good job. I also like the fact that she lives in the area. Niko seemed to really like her and my home was immaculate when I came back Niko was very happy to see me, but it was good to know someone was taking good care of him. I will use Christi again.”

“I couldn’t be happier with the care my dogs received this from Nora. She followed every instruction perfectly, arrived on time, and kept me updated with photos and messages throughout each visit. She was incredibly loving and caring with my dogs and they were very happy. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and compassionate pet sitter. I will definitely be booking with Nora again!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .

Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
