“Larry was amazing. It’s easy to tell that he loves dogs and has a kind way of describing dogs who naught be a little “unique “. Our dogs really enjoyed time with him and came home exhausted, just like after a great vacation. Grateful to have found him.”

“Wendy was super awesome to accept my last minute booking for my baby's evening care. I have never left my Squiggle with a pro-sitter, so I was apprehensive about the experience - but I had to try it out, knowing I would probably need sitting services in the future. Wendy was on time picking up my little guy, and even went above and beyond when she went by the pet store to pick up Squiggy's fave brand of food at my request. Thanks, Wendy. She was responsive, quickly answering when I messaged to check on my baby. She even sent me pictures, and although he looked miserable BC he missed me (we are VERY attached), I was comfortable knowing he was well cared for while with Wendy. I had appointments until later that night and Wendy was very accommodating and dropped him off right when I asked, and she gave me a full update via Rover - right down to how many times Squiggy made poo. That is some serious awesome. And although very excited to see me and be home, Squiggy wasn't traumatized I left him with a stranger. Now that he has met Wendy, I wont hesitate to book her again, should we need her. Squiggy made a new friend, and I am now totally cool with Wendy watch my little guy again.”

“My two dogs loved going to daycare with Megan! She was very good at providing care suited to their inidividual temperaments-- my Tate is an independent explorer, and she allowed him to do his thing, while my little Bea is more timid, so she gave her a quieter space where she could relax while she was getting used to the other dogs before she warmed up and was ready to interact. Megan kept me updated with photos and videos so I knew my pups were well cared for and enjoying themselves. I would highly recommend Megan!”

“Atlas had so much fun with Nhi! She was flexible and communicated with me every step of the way! She also got some amazing pictures of my Atlas! If I’m ever in Jacksonville in the future, I’m sure Atlas would love to hangout with her again!”

“Tannia and Chris went above and beyond my expectations when caring for my senior girl. They are very accommodating and their knowledge of animals is impressive. They took alot of time listening to my concerns/instructions and followed them carefully. Thank you guys for loving on and caring for my baby.”

“Lana was responsive and warm from the start, took care of my baby at the last minute for us and it went great. First time using a dog sitter but we will be repeat customers.”

About: Recently moved here from our family farm in central Minnesota, I have experience in working with a multitude of animals. Any animal from dogs to cattle, poultry to pigs and cats to horses! I have experience in dog sitting for neighbors, friends and family with or without being paid. I have a walker hound back home on the farm who loves to run around the farm and lives to hunt so changing his environment from the farm to an apartment didn’t seem fair to do. I miss him dearly, and have such a love for dogs, I would take them all home if I could! I also have experience working on a pig farm as a farrowing technician (assisting in birthing) and all the daily cares and medications from the time they’re born until they are weaned to another farm - also medication administration for sick pigs, including injectables. I have experience and training done on caring for elderly horses. I have experience milking cows and caring for young calves. I have fostered and cared horses until they were able to find homes, which is always tough having to say goodbye and trust they are going to a good home. Out of all the animals in the world, my heart will always love dogs the most. I do enjoy having cats around, unfortunately I am allergic so I can’t have any of my own. But I love dogs with all my heart, I think it’s safe to say I love them more than people! I may be new to the state of Florida, but I have a lot of time and dedication to offer as I am a “stay at home wife” to a husband in the Navy. We will be in the area for the next 5 years, and I would love to meet some people and help with their pets in anyway I can! Even if it’s just a drop in visit so they don’t feels so alone for such a long stretch of the day. I am ready, able and willing to love and care for your dog just as you do! I have TWO letters of recommendation I can share from my previous employers as well. I am currently a stay at home wife, husband is in the Navy. I have all the time in the world to dedicate to your dogs needs and would sure love the extra company anytime! I live in a secure apartment complex that has a gated parking lot and sidewalks, and a fenced in dog park. It’s very peaceful and quiet here but there’s other dogs to play with as well! I also spend a lot of time walking the beach on the Mayport Naval base and would be more than happy to get your dogs steps in somewhere besides the hot concrete! I don’t have any children yet, and my dog is back home on the farm in Minnesota - not pets here. Just my husband and I!
“Katya was great! She stayed in contact and progress updates on how Smokey was doing! Smokey came home exhausted from all the fun and in great shape. Highly recommend! Thank you!”

“Thomas & Cara are friendly and received Marly with open arms, She did well with their dog and she was pleasant according to Cara. Photos included for a short visit today. I will not have hesitate rebooking with this couple in the future.”

“Renee was an amazing sitter for our pup! She was kind, attentive, and truly treated him like one of her own. A great bonus was that her dog was nice playmate, which kept our pup happy and entertained. She sent photos and videos throughout the stay, which we really appreciated. We also ended up needing a little extra time for pickup, and Renee was incredibly accommodating and flexible. We’re so grateful for her care and would definitely book with her again!”

“Linda was OUTSTANDING...providing last-minute care for my dachshund mix while I was visiting the island for family vacation. She responded promptly, sent lots of updates and pictures, and was very accommodating to our travel schedule. She is located a short distance from many hotels and resorts on Amelia island so it was no problem to drop and pick up my pup. I would definitely book her again and give her my highest recommendation. Rocky loved her too!”

About: I grew up in a country area, we had a lot of animals growing up. We had to take care of chickens, bunnies, roosters, horses, cows, guinea pigs and dogs. I think I have a strong base to take care of a pet appropriately. Plus we are a military family l, most likely you will find us on base! Currently I am employed full time in a working from home environment, at times I can be called in to deploy out of state but I will let you know in advance! Mostly I am available during weekdays in the morning before 8am and in the afternoon after 4:30pm. I can also be available on Saturdays with prior notification/plan. We have a fenced yard, lots of green areas, trails that we can walk to, a dog park and well lit areas. For me this is as serious and delicate as taking care of a child, I will ask owners if treats are allowed or anything that is allowed/not allowed.

“I needed a sitter extremely last minute for Butters (the day camp I originally booked was not able to accommodate him since he’s recovering from TPLO surgery) and Lesley responded ASAP. She was so caring and made sure he was comfortable with plenty of potty walks and pets! She also sent lots of updates and photos of how Butters was settling in. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a safe, calm, loving home-away-from-home place for their pup while away.”

About: I’ve been caring for animals for about 10 years and grew up around both dogs and cats, so caring for animals has always been a big part of my life. I have experience with dogs of different sizes, personalities, and energy levels. I understand how important it is for pets to feel safe, comfortable, and loved while their owners are away. I also have a one year old dog of my own, so I’m very familiar with daily routines, exercise needs, playtime, and providing attentive care and updates. Pet care fits very naturally into my daily routine since I’m home most of the day and already structure my schedule around caring for my own dog. I’m able to provide frequent potty breaks, walks, playtime, feeding, and attention throughout the day rather than leaving pets alone for long periods. I have a flexible schedule, which allows me to accommodate different routines and give pets consistent care, supervision, and companionship. I live in a pet-friendly apartment community with access to a dog park that I take my own pup to daily for exercise and play. Because my yard is unfenced, all outdoor time and walks are closely supervised and dogs are always kept on leash for safety. I’m home throughout the day, which allows me to provide frequent potty breaks, walks, attention, and companionship based on each dog’s individual routine and needs. I create a calm, clean, and loving environment where pets feel comfortable and cared for while you’re away.
“Java started to trust Kenneth after 2 daycare visits, which is very rare. It means Kenneth did a lot of work with him. I feel very confident leaving Java with him, and I can focus on my work . Thank you 🙏🏽”

“Carolyn took great care of my Dustin boy!! She kept me updated with photos and messages throughout the day! Will definitely be using her again to watch my sweet boy. Thank you!”

“Emma was great. Consistent communication and very accommodating. I was running a bit behind with pick up and she’s was quick to reassure me. I can tell Ellie had a blast with her and their dog Patrick. Highly recommend her care.”

About: What sets me apart is my lifelong experience with dogs and my commitment to providing exceptional care. I've cared for dogs of all breeds, ages, and personalities, including fostering and rescuing dogs from neglectful situations. Through hands-on experience and self-education in canine behavior and training, I've developed the skills to understand and meet each dog's unique needs. Whether caring for playful puppies, active adults, or senior dogs, I provide a safe, loving, and dependable environment that gives pet owners peace of mind. Im currently unemployed and have a great support system (friends and spouse who LOVE dogs.) Not tied to many commitments, leaving me free to be present & dog sit day/night. The only times im gone are to do errands. Which isnt more than 2 hrs at a time. Available Mon-Sun for nights and days :). Your pets safety and quality of care is very important to me. Just to describe some of the perks of boarding with me. I have a large yard thats fenced in. A spare bedroom that theyll sleep in/ or be crated in. Very spacious home they can roam freely. Theyre allowed on furniture. Can socialize with my two loving sweet dogs that are trained. Including a safe neighborhood for walks. If pet parent is not comfortable with their pup being around my pets. Ill ensure they remain seperated, as i have the ability to do so with dog gates in the home, if need be. I also have cameras to always keep an eye out (although physically id be present).
“I’m super grateful she was willing to take my pup on such short notice — her flexibility made things a lot less stressful for me. I would’ve felt even more at ease with a few updates or photos during the day, just to stay in the loop. Thanks again for helping out!”

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in FL ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
