“Crisa took very good care of my kitty while I was away and I’m happy I was able to find her. She sent me daily photos and updates for every visit and was very patient with my kitty who tends to be very shy. She spent time with him and he was more comfortable with her each visit. It gave me peace of mind to know he was well taken care of and I came home to a happy kitty!”

“Rachel was great, would highly recommend. She went above and beyond ensuring all the kitty dishes were clean and all dirty litter was removed daily!”

About: Hello! I am currently pet-free, looking to get some experience with having animals in my and my family's lives. I will be the responsible party taking care of your pet, but plan to be assisted by my 9-year-old daughter who absolutely loves animals. We would love the chance to take care of your pet while you're away or during times when you need an extra hand for whatever reason. We love to play and snuggle as much as possible - if they're the snuggling type, of course! Weekend pet care is ideal for us, but we can make long weekends and longer stays work! We have no pets in our home, so your little one would get our full attention. I am able to travel around the Del Ray area to provide drop-in care or walks. If the pet stays with us, I do have a fenced in yard for small to medium dogs. I would follow the owner's preferences in terms of whether the pet prefers to sleep with people around (in which case they'd stay with me in my room), or not.

“Gracie was wonderful. She did more than was anticipated and originally requested. The best compliment is that I won’t hesitate to request her again.”

“Alexandra was dependable and had great communication! She watched our 2 cats for 5 days and made us feel at ease leaving the cats in her care. She did a great job - thank you!”

“Nina was wonderful! She is reliable and we will definitely be booking her again.”

“Amanda was amazing with my two kitties. She took excellent care of them and provided plenty of photos/videos and updates. Normally, both of my cats are shy and afraid of new people, but they warmed up to Amanda pretty fast, ate treats from her hands, played with her and let her pet them. Can’t recommend enough, she is a cat whisperer!”

About: I have a variety of pet care experiences that set me apart from other sitters. I was a volunteer puppy raiser for the Guide Dog Foundation for two years. During this time I raised an 8-week old puppy and trained her to be a service dog. I have experience in potty training, crate training, basic obedience, socialization, and reactivity training. I have also fostered animals for local shelters including a bonded pair of cats, a 4-week old puppy, and a senior dog. I have experience in administering a variety of medications for both cats and dogs and am comfortable doing so. I have also personally owned a cat and currently own a young dog! I currently work a 9-5 job during the week. I work remotely 2 days a week and am available on weekends. I work very close to home, so I am able to come home during days I am in the office to care for pets if needed. I have an open apartment with room to play and snuggle with your pet. I am right by a park and lots of green space to play with your pet. I am also in a very friendly neighborhood to take dogs on walks. I have extra supplies if needed including a crate. I am happy to accommodate special requests if needed. I can also drop by and take care of your pet(s) at your home if you prefer!

About: There are many amazing dog sitters around so I won't try to set myself apart. I will say I've been taking care of dogs all of my life. I'm deeply empathetic, patient, responsible, respectful and will treat your furry friends like they are part of my family. I see it as an honor to spend time with them as they bring immense joy to my life, and I hope to impart a bit of joy to their lives too. I am self employed from home and with it comes a great deal of flexibility. Even if my posted hours do not align with your schedule, please bring to my attention as I'm sure we can make arrangements. I defer to the owner so that I can better understand expectations and dog tendencies. My approach is to take things very slow and cautiously as well being and safety are top priorities.

About: I’ve pet-sat dogs for my friends and family for years and have loved the experience! I have experienced with dogs of all sizes. I’ve watched dogs with various levels of anxiety/nerves and love to help animals feel safe and secure in their environment. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions! I work remotely 8am - 4pm most days and have the flexibility to pop in for a lunchtime visit or walk as needed! My weekends are also flexible. My type A personality means I am great at following directions and am happy to meet your needs! Safety is always my #1 priority and I will work hard to ensure your pet is happy and healthy.

“I am so grateful to have found Vanessa through Rover!! She was an incredibly thoughtful, kind, and flexible pet sitter. My cat is very timid and doesn’t warm up to people in a few days but it’s clear Vanessa knows how to be around more anxious pets as kitty quickly warmed to her. Not to mention, she was so thoughtful about small things around the house like watering our extra thirsty basil plant. I absolutely recommend her and hope that she can take care of kitty again! I felt so at ease knowing kitty was in good hands.”

“Needed some last-minute drop in visits for our sweet but stubborn girl. Laura came to the rescue and loved on our dog while we were gone. Always nice when the sitter interacts with her as that's what she misses most when we're gone.”

“Sara was awesome! We’ll definitely use her again”

“My dog, Mocha, absolutely loves Rachel! I never have to worry when I leave her in Rachels care. My pup is always so happy (and exhausted) when I come back. Rachel takes special caution with my pup and her age - always taking things at her limit and being cognizant of the temperature out. Shes great at making my dog feel special and loved when I am not around. Thank you Rachel!”

About: I have had dogs my whole life! I am a doggie lover and am down to cuddle or play tug! I have attended positive reinforcements trainings, and I am happy to use whatever training methods you prefer with your pup! I love a good and slow enrichment walk or a quick walk for exercise. I have an extremely flexible schedule! Contact me for whatever time, and we can see if I can make it work. I live in Old Town, and I’m familiar with the area and parks! I also have a car if the doggie needs to go anywhere! I would love to set up a meet and greet to ensure your dog is comfortable with me. I utilized rover services for my dog in the past, and I will treat your doggie and home with the utmost respect!

About: I’ve taken care of dogs of every kind since I was 13. Neighbors, friends, and family have always counted on me to walk, feed, and bathe their pets—especially when they needed someone responsible and loving. I have experience with senior dogs, dogs with anxiety, and playful puppies. I’m comfortable giving medications, handling multiple dogs at once, and adjusting care based on a pet’s personality and needs. I treat every dog like they’re my own. I work from home, so I’m available throughout the day for walks and drop-in visits. Whether your pup needs a quick potty break, a long stroll, or some midday playtime, I can easily fit it into my schedule. I’m committed to keeping your pup safe, happy, and comfortable during our walks. I’ll follow any instructions you leave, stay alert to surroundings, and make sure your dog gets the care and attention they’re used to. I always tailor the pace and route to your dog’s needs.

“It has been so great having Allison to drop in on our dogs during the day! She is consistent and communicative. It definitely is a weight off our shoulders knowing the dogs get some play time while we are at work.”

About: As a local dog walker and proud resident of Old Town Alexandria, I know all the best spots to explore—from local shops that hand out dog treats to the coolest dog parks. I’ve always had a soft spot for pups, and during the pandemic, I fostered 37 dogs, turning my home into a love-filled haven of wagging tails and belly rubs. My foster, Dog Drama, started as a temporary guest but ended up staying—he’s now 4.5 years old and an expert in sniffing out treats and tracking down fun adventures. Thanks to my years of walking these historic streets and my foster experiences, I know every hidden gem and favorite sniffer spot in Old Town. I love teaching dogs about the neighborhood, whether it’s stopping for a mid-walk treat, making new friends, or just soaking up the sights and smells. I walk my own pup twice a day, and every walk is an adventure—I’d love to make your furry friend’s day just as exciting, loving, and maybe a little fancy with a treat or two. Let me be your dog’s personal tour guide to the best of Old Town—I’ll keep them happy, loved, and endlessly entertained! Pet care is a key part of my daily routine. I walk my own dog twice a day, morning and evening, and I make sure to give any pets I watch plenty of attention, playtime, and love. I’m flexible and can accommodate additional walks or feeding schedules as needed. Giving dogs a happy, caring environment fits seamlessly into my schedule and is something I truly enjoy doing regularly. I care for pets in my own home, providing a safe and loving environment. Since I live in Old Town with a small courtyard, I make sure to give my dog, Drama, plenty of exercise by walking him twice a day. I will do the same for your dog, ensuring they get regular walks and attention. I follow any specific instructions regarding feeding, medication, or routines to meet each pet’s individual needs. My goal is to create a caring, comfortable space where your pet can feel happy and secure.

About: At 16, I got my own dog and was in charge of her feeding, walking, and training (at home and at class). For 3 years, I lived with roommates who had 3 dogs (ages 6 months to 2 years) and I was trusted to watch them over weekends when my roommates were gone. Now that I’m living by myself, I have my very own 7 month old pup, so I am well versed in puppy personalities! I’m also doing leash training with my puppy, so I am getting a lot of practice with walking dogs and knowing what behaviors to look for. My parents were veterinarians, so I also have a lot of knowledge on pet behavior and health. I do work full time, but work remotely and can work in visits around my meetings. I also have the weekends free for pet care! I am a great listener, and a pet’s safety is always my top priority. If you have specific rules for your pet, I will adhere to them. I’m big on checking in the the owners, and sending pictures and updates!

“Carolina is amazing! She took great care of my cat while I was out of the country. Carolina is a great communicator, responsible, and caring! I would 100% recommend!”

You can tell Lori genuinely loves dogs and connects with them. She’s super interactive, always playing with Maverick and keeping him engaged. She sends great photo updates (which I look forward to!) and it’s obvious they’re both having a blast. I swear Maverick knows when she’s coming and gets so excited. Honestly, everyone’s in a good mood when Lori’s around—me, Maverick, and Lori too! If you’re looking for someone who’s responsible, fun, and totally dog-obsessed, Lori’s your girl. We can’t wait to have her back again! 🐾💛”

Sara N.
“Sara is an incredible pet sitter. She cared for my two needy frenchies on many many occasions. One of my dogs has IBD and she accurately dispensed medications, followed instructions to not feed anything other than her kibble, and kept track of bowel movements and any issues that could/did arise with her in my absence. She made sure to not only take them for walks and potty breaks, but to hang out with them, sensitive to the fact that they have some separation anxiety. She even sent me pictures of them when I was gone. Truthfully, I wouldn’t trust any one else with my dogs! She’s kind, responsive, and has an incredible attention to detail.”

Alexandria dog parents share their Rover experiences
Jeana did a great job watching the pets. Had no issues. Very good communicator and I wouldn't hesitate using her again. She also takes amazing photos of the animals during the visit. Thanks Jeana for the best support.

Holly was great! She was extremely communicative and did a great job with our shy dog. We will definitely use her again!

Nora was fantastic! She took great care of my baby who had pills she needed to take and ears to clean! Nora had such positive energy and made sure all of my detailed instructions were followed!

Kristen was great! My dogs loved her when they met her and she was wonderful with them. The visits were on time as requested and very thorough. Will definitely be requesting her for dog visits again!!

Gracie was great!!! She responded to my initial ask so quickly and then arranged a meet and greet. Juniper immediately loved her. Gracie sent pictures and updates during the drop in which I appreciated. I’ll definitely book with her again!

Christine was very attentive to my pugs and gave very detailed - and sometimes entertaining - summaries of her visits. I appreciate her willingness to care for my dogs while my usual walker was away, and I would be honored to hire her again in the future.

Byul took exceptional care of our pup with walks, pets, and lots of love. She sent lots of pictures and updates and went above and beyond for us!

Brittany did a great job dropping in on my pup! I will definitely be booking her for drop ins again!

Once again, Evie has done a great job with our pup. She loves taking long walks and Evie always does. We feel super confident with her taking care of Lulu and will reach out again.

Erica was amazing! She understood my needs and met them perfectly, even offered helpful advice. Will definitely rebook with her the next time I am out of town. My dog, Bentley, had a great time - she let him get all his energy out and played with him. I am super appreciative of her services!

Such a great sitter!! My boys were so well cared for and loved on. Definitely very lovely, responsive, and cares a lot about pets 😊

Nicole did an amazing job with drop in visits for our senior dog Ava! She is great at communicating and Ava loves her!
Kristina T was prompt with our demanding pooch’s schedule. She spent time walking and providing comfort to our senior (who only eats with human company, near by). Kristina provided a picture of our dog and let us know her activities during every drop in visit. When concerns came up with our elder dog (as they naturally do) she informed us and always went above and beyond. Highly recommended Kristina T to care for your fur babies.

Taryn is wonderful! She did a great job dropping in on our dog and cat and made sure we came home to happy pets and a clean home. Very appreciative of her work!

Andrea was great with my critters! She came over to meet them and see the layout of my home before I went out of town, which I appreciated. I would use her services again.

Emily is super attentive to our corgi and always provides detailed notes about her drop-ins and walks. She is communicative, punctual, and professional. Our pup loves her!

Erica was fantastic with our big rescue bully who can have some initial stranger danger. She's clearly worked with dogs of varying personalities and preferences, and he warmed up to her instantly.

Chelsea is great and was able to help with a visit for my dog Ozzie pretty last minute. Will definitely be reaching out to her again in the future!

Carrie was an amazing caretaker for my babies. They're a little unorthodox, but from the update pictures, they definitely warmed up to her kindness and care. She's an absolute rockstar and I would definitely trust her with any pet. Thank you, Carrie!

Alyssa is amazing. Very knowledgeable about animal care and behavior (vet tech and budding veterinarian). Goes above and beyond to take exceptional care of my dog. Great communication and information and always lets me know if there are any issues (for example my dog having a hard time with a thunderstorm) and making sure she addresses them. Couldn’t recommend Alyssa more!
