“Kacey did a great job taking care of our 9 yr old pug for 10 days at our house! Our dog is high maintenance and am comfortable that he was well cared for while we were gone! I would most certainly higher Kacey back!”

“Riley took care of our dog, Rose, while we were getting married out of the country for a week- and we could not have asked for a better sitter. Our biggest concern was that Rose wouldn't be left alone to much or have to sleep by herself, and Riley went above and beyond to ease our minds. She stayed overnight with Rose every night, made sure she was fed and cared for, and kept her company just like we would. She also sent us regular photo and video updates, which made us feel so much more connected and reassured while we were away. Rose clearly adored her, and it was obvious that Riley treated her like one of her own. To top it all off, when we got home, we found a sweet congratulations card, a bottle of wine, and treats for Rose waiting for us. Such a thoughtful surprise! Riley is reliable, kind, and so in tune with the needs of both pets and their (slightly anxious) owners. If you're looking for someone who truly cares, book Riley- you won't regret it. Thank you again, Riley!! ❤️”

“We have had Randi stay with our dogs multiple times and will continue to do so as long as she’ll keep coming back! We always rest easy knowing they are well taken care of. Thank you, Randi!”

“Alex is a slam dunk. Animals were healthy, safe, and happy when we returned. Received regular, daily updates during the week. House was spotless. Definitely a re-book. Thank you so much, Alex!”

About: I've been taking care of dogs and cats for as long as I can remember. Many of my neighbors would often ask me to take care of their pets while they're away, and I still watch all of them to this day! It gave me quite a lot of experience with different types of animals among all ages too. All of their amazing pets have inspired me to join Rover to meet many more, and hopefully, I can one day get a dog of my own! I'm currently on summer break for college with no part-time job, so my schedule is completely free and flexible for any sort of pet or home needs. I take utmost care of pets as they are just as important as people! As a dog owner myself, I love on them and go above and beyond when taking care of them. Aside from just feeding or walking, I love playing and spending time with other animals as I believe they all need proper attention and not just their basic needs met while their owners are away!
“Lindy was amazing! They gave us great updates every day on how Laika was doing, and what they were up to everyday. And lots of adorable pictures in which it was clear Laika was having a great time with them. Highly recommend!”

About: My name is Nick and I am a teacher in Chesterfield county looking to use my love for animals as a way to make some extra money over the summer. I have had dogs and cats growing up my whole life and currently have a dog named Bagel and a cat named Friday. I also have lots of experience dog/cat sitting for friends and family over the years ever since I was in high-school. I am a teacher so I won’t be working during the summers so I will have unlimited time during the day/night to take care of your pets and their needs! Once the school year starts I can do weekends and afternoon/nights! I have a lot of energy myself so if your pets love to get exercise/play around I am very up for that. I also try to be very thorough with the pet care instructions and will ask questions/for clarification to ensure I am giving your pet the best care as possible.

“Shula provided excellent pet care to my two dogs. She kept me advised and submitted photos. She did a great job with details and instructions. Would highly recommend her!”

“my dogs loved Collette and were happy and healthy when I came home. My home was left when she left as it was when I left for my trip, which means a great deal to me. Highly recommend.”

About: I've grown up with dogs my entire life and have been a cat dad for six years now so I have a vast amount of experience with both animals and love both equally. Family friends have relied on me to take care of their dogs, including overnight stays for weeks at a time, when they go on vacation. I have also taken care of my friends' cats on multiple occasions and love the opportunity to do so. With pets I have administered medication, changed and cleaned litter boxes, and fed at appropriate times. I'm currently working part-time so will have plenty of time for visits with bog dogs and cats! I am also outdoorsy and athletic so would love to play outside with pets whenever I get the chance. Part-time shifts would be no earlier than 9:30 in the morning and no later than 9:30 in the evening, so I would always be free for early morning or evening visits. I have plenty of experience with dog sitting for family friends while staying in their house, so would be very comfortable with home visits or walking around the neighborhood.
About: For the last 5 years, I've been volunteering care for a herd of goats on Gillie's Creek Park. I am also the primary farm sitter for several friends' homesteads and a frequent pet sitter for friends and acquaintances. I have a broad range of experience: handling elderly animal care, newborn feeding/monitoring, pet anxiety, unique medication/feeding schedules, and general care for most farm/domesticated animals. I have a deep love for animals and their welfare with a desire to assist you and your pet in any way possible. I'm currently working part-time with a very flexible schedule. Typically not away from home for more than 3 hours at a time during marked available hours. My schedule can be adjustable if coordinating in advance. If caring in your home, I ensure that all items are back where they were originally left and that all feeding bowls and areas accessed are cleaned and organized. My home has a fenced-in yard, plenty of plants, natural lighting, and no other pets to contend for attention or food.
“Mindy was amazing especially with my grumpy senior dog. I have never seen Bucky take to a new person so quickly. She sent photos of my dogs on their walks and checked in with me each day. I can not recommend her enough.”

“Sarah did a wonderful job with our dog, Koda. She sent frequent updates with photos and videos each day. She was prompt in communication and followed all our direction regarding medicine and special routines!”

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Alexanders Corner walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Alexanders Corner maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Alexanders Corner choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
