“Meliah did amazing with our girls. We knew they were being cared for with love. Would definitely recommend her to anyone needing someone to look after their fur babies. She sent us pictures and updates daily Of them and they looked happy and content with her.”

“Brooklyn was fantastic! She provided us with regular updates, she communicated very well, and she was very reliable. Our dog was very anxious as a result of the fireworks for Fourth of July, and we hated to leave him, but Brooklyn did a great job of taking care of him while we were gone. We will definitely have her watch him again!”

She is sweet and gets along well with other dogs! I have open availability until August 10th! Then, I will work a normal 7:30-4:30 schedule! Feel free to reach out to see if we would be a good fit. I live in a spacious, 3-bedroom, 3-bathroom townhome that has a deck & yard. I also live within a 5 minute drive to the local park.
“Hannah was EXCELLENT! She went Above & Beyond with my Billie. Hannah sent me a dozen pictures of Billie. She has the sweetest personality. I would use her again and I recommend her highly!”

“She does a great job, our pets are always well taken care of, and our home is always in order when we get home. This is the second time she has stayed at our home to watch our pets! Highly recommend her!”

About: I grew up riding horses and having small dogs around the house, so caring for animals has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I've been dog and cat sitting off and on for the past 8 years, and I've been working in barns and caring for horses for 12. Today, I'm lucky enough to have a dog and cat of my own, so I understand how important it is to have someone you truly trust caring for your pets while you're away. I have a bachelor's degree in Equine Science, with Animal Science as one of my three minors. Through my education and years of hands-on experience, I've developed a strong understanding of animal care, behavior, health, and daily management across a variety of animals. I have experience caring for senior pets, anxious and reactive animals, and animals with additional medical needs. I'm comfortable administering medications and following detailed care instructions to ensure each pet receives the care they need. Whether your pet wants to go on a long walk or hike, play their favorite games, or simply curl up on the couch, I'm happy to meet them where they are. I care about getting to know each pet’s personality and routine, so they feel comfortable and happy while you’re away. Their well-being is always my top priority, and I’ll keep you updated along the way so you can have peace of mind knowing they’re in good hands. I genuinely love animals and feel incredibly lucky to spend my time caring for them. I'd love the opportunity to get to know you and your pets and make your time away a little easier! I work remotely and have a very flexible schedule, so I can be with your pets whenever is needed. Just let me know when you would prefer me there, and I can make it work! I want every pet to feel safe and comfortable while they're in my care. I take the time to learn their routines and personalities, follow your instructions closely, and give them the individual attention they need. I treat every animal as if they were my own, so you can have peace of mind and enjoy your time away.
About: I do not take payment outside of the rover app or any other forms of payment! I have taken care of animals big and small for most of my life; goats, chickens, cats, dogs, geese, rabbits, fish, snakes, rats, geckos, tortoises, pigeons, and probably more. I have pet sit for many friends and family members, and now that I have a cat of my own, I know how much trust one must put in someone to watch their pet. I have also cared for animals in a professional setting at Madison Children's Museum (where I cared for chickens, pigeons, crested geckos, turtles, tortoises, and rats) and was trained in their care. I am used to feeding my cat and cleaning her litter box every morning. Along with this, I sweep because she is a menace who launches her litter across the room. I will treat your pet as if they are my own family, talking to them as if they can respond, and giving them all the love I have. I will also follow any special instructions you have for me, and try to keep your pet on their preferred schedule - I want you both to be as comfortable as possible.
“Misty was great and Luna was safe and secure, happy and healthy when I arrived home. Finding a dog sitter on Memorial Day seemed like an impossible request so imagine my surprise when she accepted, arrived and did a great job. I highly recommend her!”

About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life and caring for pets is second nature to me. Over the years I’ve cared for dogs, cats, hamsters, guinea pigs, a rabbit, turtles, snakes, and fish. I currently have two dogs, a cat, and a snake that I’ve raised and cared for daily—my snake has been with me for 15 years, my dogs for about 8 years, and my cat for the past year. Neighbors, friends, and family have relied on me to walk, feed, and bathe their pets, and I bring patience, attentiveness, and genuine love to every animal I meet. Whether it’s energetic puppies, senior pets, or more unique companions, always providing patient, reliable, and loving care. I’m currently between jobs, which gives me lots of flexibility and free time to dedicate to caring for pets. I’m available most weekdays and weekends, and I can adjust easily to your schedule. This allows me to give your pets plenty of attention, exercise, and companionship without feeling rushed. I care for pets in their own home so they can stay comfortable in a familiar environment. I always follow your instructions carefully, whether it’s feeding, walking, administering medication, or just giving extra love and playtime. Safety and trust are my top priorities, and I’ll treat your pets with the same patience and care I give my own.
“Eric was great! He took great care of our snuggly beagle and our home. Chester was at ease with Eric and we could tell that he got all the treats and affection to which he is deservedly entitled. We will definitely ask Eric to sit for us again on our next trip.”

About: What sets me apart is that pet care has always been personal for me, not just a job. I grew up caring for cats and dogs, and some of my favorite childhood memories come from that. I've since fostered puppies and kittens through the humane society and pet sat for friends, family, and their friends' cats and dogs over the years. One example that stands out: I spent three years as the regular go-to sitter for a family's cats whenever they traveled, handling feeding, litter box duty, and plenty of love and attention. I also bring hands-on senior pet care experience: my own dog needed medication, pumpkin mixed into her food, and extra attentiveness in her later years, and I'm also comfortable with things like flea and heartworm treatment. With fostered kittens and puppies, I've helped with soft food feedings and socializing them to be comfortable around people. Whether it's a kitten, a senior, or anything in between, I'm at ease in your pet's home and would love to love on your pet! I recently started working remotely, which makes pet care easy to fit into my day. My schedule is flexible enough for morning and evening walks, plus midday walks or feeds whenever needed. And because I can be home most of the day, your pet gets consistent love and company, not just quick check-ins. I treat your home the way I'd want mine treated: with respect, care, and attention to detail. Between 15 years of pet care experience and 5 years of housesitting, I'm used to following careful instructions; not just for your pet's routine, but for your home too. I know I'm a guest, so I prioritize keeping things tidy and organized. On a recent 10-day stay caring for two cats, that meant watering the plants, bringing in the mail daily, and vacuuming up fur to keep the home as clean as I found it. I've sat in all kinds of spaces (rural, city, apartments, houses), so I can adapt easily to whatever your home looks like, and my goal is always to keep your pet comfortable in the space they already know.
About: Very attentive, love dogs of all sizes, shapes and forms! Being outdoors is my favorite and would love to enjoy your pup with some outdoor time or a little adventure. Very gentle and oh so loving. Enjoying cuddles and puppy/dog kisses. Great at belly rubs! Love to walk for days and keep your dog healthy like me! Would love to keep your pet and spoil them rotten and give them extra love and anything they need and require! Up for jogs, long walks and park time! Play fetch, tug of war, and occasional dips in a kiddie pool. I can give you dog or puppy everything they need and more! I’m a big softie for animals and love them with a huge passion! Pick me I’m currently unemployed so I can help a lot if need be. I love each dog big or small and all the critters that need watched. I have a fenced in yard. I can crate, leave in the kitchen, or let roam when I care for your pet. I don’t board or do puppy daycare at this time.
About: Hi I’m Raquel ! I’ve been in a home of pet lovers and care takers my whole life! My mom is a dog groomer and I’ve handled and cuddled all dogs and cats of all sizes & have watched & learned to care for every ones extended families (fur babies)! With a small old dog of my own I’ve been able to experience a full spectrum of dog parenting and would love to take care of your pets so you can rest and relax knowing they’re in good hands :) I teach yoga a few hours a week and enjoy getting steps in and hanging with dog friends in the between, this let’s me continue my yoga gig and do something else I love too! I live in in broadripple so I’m near dog park and we have lots of space with the Monon being a few steps away! Been very fortunate to also live in a complex with a park & plenty of space, my doggy is now 14 (ish) so her days look different than when she was a puppy. As far as my clients home I just try to stay as close I can to the routine of the animal and what’s “normal” for them and comforting them while owners are away. And maybe a few extra treats

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of October 2026, there are 424 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Alberta. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Alberta walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Alberta maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
<b>Tip:</b> Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Alberta choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first Meet & Greet .
sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
