“Wonderful experience for both our pups and us! Thalia was super responsive, cheery, and the pups really responded well to her even while we were away. Would happily have her house/pet sit for us again.”

“Leandra took such good care of our two cats! I was so happy to see pictures and videos of our cats getting all the cuddles they wanted over the three weeks she was with them. We were able to enjoy our holiday knowing the cats were getting excellent and thoughtful care. ❤️”

“We chose Sierra to provide in-home dog sitting services for our first use of Rover. She came to meet us a couple of weeks ahead of our travel, and spent time answering questions about her knowledge and experience caring for puppies. She also asked us questions about our preferences for their care, and for her use of our home. By the end of the visit, we felt far more comfortable with our decision. During our trip, Sierra kept us informed about her schedule, how the puppies were doing, and sent us photos of them. It was clear from the way she talked about them that she genuinely cared for them, and was taking excellent care of them. Upon returning home, we found the home and our puppies in good shape, with minimal cleaning needed (I should note that we have very high standards for cleanliness). Overall, we were very impressed with Sierra. She was very friendly and personable while also being very professional and responsive. We would gladly use her to care for our puppies again when we travel.”

“Evelyn was nothing short of amazing! She took care of two crazy GSPs and made sure they were happy and healthy. One of ours needed medication and special attention while we were away and it did not phase her at all. Would recommend to anyone!”

“Michelle was absolutely amazing - she was flexible with us and so loving with our dogs! It was our first time working with her and she’ll be our #1 go to sitter from now on. Thank you so much for giving us so much happiness and peace of mind during our travels - it means the world to us to have a caregiver like you!??❤️”

“Bella and Boomer were so well cared for! They enjoyed walks and treats and plenty of love and attention. We’ll definitely have Odalys back to housesit and petsit at our next trip away!”

“Laura is my go to sitter. She does a wonderful job and my pets like her. She is really communicative and follows the directions I lay for her. I would recommend her and will definitely book her again! 😊”

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Samuel was fantastic! He stayed overnight, followed all of our instructions, and kept us updated with plenty of pictures throughout our trip. He was especially patient and understanding with our new puppy, who is very shy and fearful around new people. We came home to two happy, well-cared-for dogs and will definitely book with Samuel again. Highly recommend!”

“Megan is always our first choice for pet/housesitting. Great communication and our dog is always happy and relaxed when we get home. The house is always in good shape too. We are so appreciative!”

“This was ourfirst experience with Rover and we could not have been more pleased with Madison! She cared for our pets as if they were her own. Prior to her visit, we had a vet emergency and explained the issue and asked her to keep an extra eye out him. Well our pet had the issue come up while away and Madison did such a great job notifying immediately and took to the vet to receive the medical attention. In addition, during her visit, she sent updates on all the other pets. I highly recommend Madison!!”

“We cannot thank Mel enough for dog sitting. It is truly amazing to have someone you can fully trust with your fluffy babies when you are away home. They not only give our dogs the best care, but they are flexible with any last minute changes including extending dog sitting. They send us many pictures and videos of them everyday, and keep us updated on everything. We are so lucky and blessed to have found the best dog sitters that we can trust our lives with and will be always going back to them.”

“Victoria exceeded all expectations! I have 2 cats (15 & 6) that both required different levels of care and Victoria was able to handle both of them. She was very thorough in her prep and we had a video consult to go over all expectations, requests, questions, etc. She was detailed and asked questions I hadn’t even thought to cover. During the pet sitting, she kept me updated at all time and provided pictures to let me know the girls were doing okay. My 15 year old cat requires multiple medications that can sometimes be difficult to administer and she was able to administer with no issues. Nothing about this was a negative experience and I would recommend her to anyone!! I will definitely be rebooking her in the future.”

“Good service: Good communication and promptness, excellent rates, and my dog seemed pleased. I’ll definitely use Soraya again if needed in that area (probably in 2 months from now).”
“This was another great stay between Marina and my boys. Not once was I worried or concerned, plus I didn’t feel guilty leaving them. We will definitely be repeat clients. Thank you, Marina!!”

About: Growing up in the Hill Country, my family always had at least 4 pets at any given time. Usually no less than three dogs. I also volunteer at the San Antonio Humane Society when I can! Now, living in the city I don't have a dog of my own and am missing having a furry friend! This is not just a side gig for me but a way to be able to enjoy the company of my favorite furry friends! I'm currently in between work so I can dedicate my full schede to watching over your pets. Ideally, I'd like to find remote work so I can still look over your pets. First and foremost I give lots of love and attention! I have and do volunteer for SAHS and agree with most if not all of their policies on dog care. This means no use of fear, pain, hitting, or similar corrective actions. These behaviors have shown to suppress behavior without actually teaching the dog what you want and can create anxiety and even aggression. Dogs and cats have been a part of my life since I was a baby so I'm pretty familiar with their body language and try to be mindful of their needs. I consider them part of the family and usually treat them as such by ensuring they have a comfortable and pleasant environment. I think establishing a "safe place" for your pets to retreat to when they are feeling anxious is a great way to build strong bonds. My mom's dog, bullet, has one of the worst cases of ADHD I've seen in a dog and when he's feeling overwhelmed by too many guests in the house or strange weather, he likes to disappear deep into my mom's walk in closet.
“Jayden was a life saver! She hosted Miley last minute. She arrived to our location literally 20min after the booking. She is very sweet, polite and excellent communicator. My husband and I really appreciate you and your time.”

“I have never had such an amazing sitter. This was the best experience ever. I am truly appreciative of everything you’ve done, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I will 100% be booking you again! 💛”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of August 2026, there are 1,686 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Adkins. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Adkins walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Adkins maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Adkins choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Adkins. On Rover:
- 86% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
