“We’re so grateful we found Kalea. She stayed in our home and took amazing care of our two Labs while we were away over the 4th of July. She stuck to their routine, which really helped keep them calm and happy, especially during a stressful time. It was obvious they got tons of love and attention while we were gone. We came home to two very content pups! We’ll definitely be booking with her again — highly recommend!”

About: I've taken care of young and old dogs. I've watched family pets for years and have spent a lot of care on specialized research around animals to ensure I give them the best care I can. I love to play with them, never get bored of watching them and ass I started I pay a lot of attention to detail. I can pick up on all those little details in dogs that many sitters will miss. You could not leave your dog with a safer host. I have a very flexible and open schedule right now. I am willing to work whenever and can plan around caring for your pet. It will be my number one priority. I have an apartment that is free of pets right now so I have the space give your pet some extra room without disruption while they stay with me
About: I’ve taken care of dogs since I was 5 years old. I have always had a love for dogs. I currently have two dogs and they’re both rescues. It makes my heart happy to have rescued both of them. I treat all dogs as though they are my own and I want the best for all of them. I am now retired and available during the day on weekdays to walk your dog and play with them. I’m available all day on weekends and holidays, depending on my schedule. I’m able to pet-sit in the client’s home. If you’d prefer I watch your pet at my house, I would have to first introduce them to my two dogs to see if they’re compatible.
About: I’ve been a dog owner my entire life and have had experience owning other pets such as geckos, cats, and snakes. I’ve been a pet sitter for a little over two years. My true passion for pet sitting comes from my desire to be accompanied by them, dogs specifically. I work with dogs of all ages, temperaments, and personalities. Dogs of all backgrounds tend to gravitate towards me and I have never had any negative interactions. While studying for my undergrad, I was actually in charge of all the live animal specimens present on the University grounds. Feeding, exercise, and handling/care were done daily, which can explain my comfortability and familiarity with pet care. I currently am home as I finish my masters degree online so my daily schedule is fairly free. I workout and do part-time contract work when I am not doing schoolwork. I’m extremely flexible and will be willing to meet your needs as best as possible. Simply put, I treat the pets like they are my own. I ensure they are met with sufficient attention, exercise, nutrition, and safety while under my supervision. Minimizing stress is my biggest concern (my dog has separation anxiety so I know how it can be). I’ve found it helpful in the past to use my own dog as a bridge between myself and the client’s pet, as his presence tends to build confidence and reassurance.
About: As a professional pet and senior sitter, I possess a unique set of skills and qualities that set me apart from other sitters in the industry. While many sitters may have experience with basic pet care, I have specialized training in puppy training, senior care, and administering medication. These skills, along with my compassionate nature and attention to detail, make me an exceptional caregiver for both animals and elderly individuals. One of the key aspects that sets me apart from other sitters is my extensive experience in training puppies. I have completed a professional puppy training course and have worked with numerous puppies to help them develop good behavior and socialization skills. This training allows me to provide valuable guidance to new pet owners and help them raise well-behaved and well-adjusted dogs. I understand the unique challenges and needs of young dogs, and I am dedicated to providing the necessary care and support to help them thrive. In addition to my expertise in puppy training, I also have a passion for senior care. I have undergone specialized training in providing care for elderly individuals, including those with physical or cognitive limitations. I understand the importance of patience, empathy, and respect when working with seniors, and I am committed to providing them with the highest quality of care. Whether it's assisting with daily tasks, providing companionship, or administering medication, I am equipped to meet the unique needs of elderly individuals and ensure their well-being and comfort. Furthermore, my ability to administer medication sets me apart from other sitters. I am trained in safely and accurately administering medication to pets and seniors, ensuring that they receive the necessary treatment and dosage. This skill allows me to provide valuable support to pet owners and family members who may have concerns about administering medication to their loved ones. Beyond these specialized skills, my compassionate nature and dedication to providing exceptional care make me a standout sitter. I prioritize building trusting relationships with both pets and seniors, and I am committed to creating a safe and comfortable environment for them. I understand the importance of clear communication with pet owners and family members, and I am always transparent and responsive in my interactions. In conclusion, my unique combination of specialized skills, including puppy training, senior care, and medication administration, sets me apart from other sitters. With a compassionate and detail-oriented approach, I strive to provide exceptional care and support to both animals and elderly individuals. I am committed to meeting their individual needs and ensuring their well-being and comfort, making me a standout choice for pet and senior sitting services. Pet care, including feeding, exercise, playtime, and grooming, should be integrated into your daily and weekly routine to ensure your pet's well-being and happiness. Establishing a consistent schedule provides predictability and security for your pet, reducing stress and promoting healthy habits. Dedicate time for a longer walk, play session, or quiet time for bonding and relaxation. Schedule daily or weekly grooming sessions, depending on your pet's breed and coat type. Maintain a regular feeding schedule to help regulate your pet's digestion and prevent accidents. Bathe your pet every few weeks or as needed. Brush your pet's teeth regularly. Incorporate playtime with toys and games to provide mental and physical stimulation. I Establish a consistent daily routine for feeding, exercise, and playtime. I Ensure the home environment is safe and suitable for the pet, free of hazards and with designated spaces for rest and play. I Provide appropriate, healthy food and fresh water at all times. “Debra took exceptional care of our babies just like they were her own. When we came home they were so relaxed which is everything we hope for when we have to leave them. Thank you!!”

About: I’ve enjoyed taking care of pets and house sitting since 1998. I’ve had multiple pets at one time including cats, dogs, fish, and guinea pigs. I work remotely, with flexible hours. My down time activities include reading, which makes keeping an eye on furry family members easy and fun. I enjoy getting fresh air and walking which most dogs usually enjoy as well. I can work from most anywhere, so there’s no problem fitting right in to your pets familiar environment. I do need a desk to work from and somewhere to sleep if overnight care is requested.

“Emily was wonderful! She stayed at our house for the weekend to look after our dog, and he was so well cared for. We loved the updates she sent and came home to one very happy pup. Highly recommend!”

About: I am great with all different kinds of dogs or cats! I am also good with medication if needed for the animals. I am also very attentive to animals. I currently do not have a job so I will have a lot of free time for your animals needs! I Usally am a little busy between 12-2 but if needed can push my other stuff back! I am great with dog walking and love taking long walks with animals or just playing with them outside or giving them attention inside also.
About: Ever since I was a very little girl, animals have been the object of my attention. My parents still love to tell stories about how as soon as I could walk, as little as 2, I would walk into pet shops and ask to hold snakes and other “scary” animals. I love them all and have had the luxury of either owning or taking care of every kind of pet. I truly mean every— dogs, cats, fish, turtles, lizards, birds (ducks, rescues, etc), tarantulas, frogs, newts, axolotls, rats, mice, hamsters, gerbils, moles, rabbits, squirrels, raccoons, and I’m sure I’m missing some. I’ve also taken care of an extensive array of bugs. Just ask! While I mainly and primarily care for furry friends— I have lots of experience with other pets. :^) I’m currently only working with Rover and with Wag Caregiver, so I am always at home! I spend all of my time at home with other’s people pets. I am almost exclusively at home. I leave to go to the store and run errands, but otherwise, I’m a complete home body. I don’t have a fenced in yard, but I have a very safe and pet friendly neighborhood to walk your dogs. I do plan to move into my first home within the next 6 months, and will have a fenced in yard then. Aside from that, my home is perfectly equipped for your furry (or maybe not so furry!) companions. They are allowed on almost any and all surfaces. Beds, couches, floors, all.
“Tori is an amazing dog and house sitter. She gave us daily health updates and pictures as well as obviously being devoted to our little fur babies. Our house was in perfect shape when we returned, as were our dogs. They were clearly sad to see her go. You won't do better than Vitoria C!”

“Emina and Jackson were amazing! They sent me so many pictures throughout my trip. My dogs take a little while to warm up to people and they were very patient and came to meet them before so the dogs could get to know them. I will definitely use them again in the future!”

“Amelie truly came in clutch when another dog sitter canceled 5 days before my trip. I couldn't have asked for a better person! She was amazing with my HUGE grumpy older dog and my HYPER younger 2 year old...and did I mention they are Rotties?!! She was amazing from start to finish. This is truly the first time I came home from a trip and the dogs seemed well loved and taken care of, no anxiety from them at all. Thanks, Amelie! Rover friends, look no further and book her now...just not when I need her ; )”

“We cannot recommend Ronny highly enough! When another sitter backed out at the last minute, we reached out to Ronny on short notice. He responded promptly and was more than willing to come by for a meet and greet, which immediately put us at ease. From the moment he walked in the door, our cats were comfortable with him which is not always the case. Ronny took his time answering all of our questions and asked thoughtful questions of his own. Even though we admittedly have a very detailed list of instructions, he did an amazing job remembering all the little things and checking in regularly with messages and photos throughout his stay. It was clear that Ronny genuinely cared about making sure our cats were happy, comfortable, and well loved while we were away. He was also incredibly respectful of our home, leaving everything exactly as we left it. He even went above and beyond by offering to clear our driveway after an unexpected snowfall. If you’re looking for someone who truly goes the extra mile and treats your pets like their own, Ronny is absolutely the person to book!”

About: I’ve had considerable experience with cats and dogs — over 50 years of being around them — and I now share my home with three cats. I’m now starting to offer pet care as a way to earn money, and I’ll come to your place for drop-in visits, overnight stays, and house sitting. I’m also open to caring for other pets. I’m a calm, patient person, and animals really respond to that energy. When I arrive, I make enough noise so pets aren’t startled, then I spend a minute talking with them and reading how they’re feeling before feeding, litter breaks, potty breaks, or play — whatever they need at that moment. I’m comfortable giving shy pets the time they need to warm up. I don’t have much experience with special needs care, but I’m happy to handle meds or anxiety with a steady, reassuring approach. If a dog barks, I’ll soothe them with a calm voice; if they pull on the leash, I’ll pause until they settle; if a pet’s shy, I’ll let them come to me. My schedule is flexible and I can work around your dates, including weekends and holidays. People often tell me they appreciate my calm, thoughtful approach — it helps my pets feel safe and at ease. I’d love to meet your cat or dog! IMPORTANT- I am flexible. 😊 I will do my best to accommodate reasonable requests. We will discuss details when I come to meet your pet(s). My schedule is flexible since I’m retired. I can work around your schedule, or adjust my own to fit what your pet needs. I do have a couple evening meetings each month, and I’m busy on Sunday mornings. “Barbara took care of my senior dog while I camped overnight. My pup gets a little stressed when I’m away. I can tell that Barbara took great care of her because she wasn’t anxious when I got home, just happy! She was very friendly and you can tell she really cares for animals. I’ll definitely be booking her again!”

FAQs for House Sitting - Acker
Frequently asked questions about Rover
As of June 2026, there are 423 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Acker. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Acker walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Acker maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Acker choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Acker. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
