“For as long as I've known her, Aurélie has had a soft spot for cats, dogs — and most recently pigeons, but that's a different story. She seems to see in them things that the average person doesn't. One can easily understand that from the way she would extend her hand to a newly met dog or a hesitent kitty. What strikes me the most about her, though, is her ability to view them as full independent beings without ignoring their vulnerability. She is radical about how all cats or dogs are "just babies" yet complete beings worthy of listening to. They're not necessarily owned but rather befriended. I've had the chance to cat sit with Aurélie a few times at a friend's house, and the way she gets on so, so well with the pets is almost alienating to me.”
