Los Angeles…it’s the land of glitz and glamour, and come every autumn, the city offers a bevy of opportunities for your dog to strut their paws and truly shine. So hide that bag of Snickers you picked up for trick-or-treaters and bust out your buddy’s fiercest get-up, because we’ve rounded up five awesome Halloween paw-tys you two can hit together.
Los Angeles dog events—Halloween costume contests and more!
Haute Dog Howl’oween
Marina Vista Park
This couture parade is free to watch and just $10 to enter your dog. Over 500 costumed dogs are expected to march at this Long Beach extravaganza and owners are encouraged to dress up along with their pets, so make sure to get in character! The grand prize winner of the dog Halloween costume contest will receive a year’s worth of dog food from Petcurean.
Howl-o-Ween
Vaucluse Lounge
Taking place on Halloween, this Los Angeles dog event is held in West Hollywood’s upscale Vaucluse Lounge. You don’t have to be a member to attend; you can just meet and greet with other dogs and treat your pal to free scary doggie snacks.
Paws On The Square
Jack London Square
Activities at Jack London Square’s Paws on the Square include canine massages (it’s a thing!), doggie musical chairs, and more. Several local businesses will be offering special POTS deals and lots of dog gear, and food vendors will be on site for your perusal. Los Angeles pet sitter recommendation: Be sure to pick up a complimentary caricature of your pooch and maybe even go for a dog paddle at California Canoe and Kayak.
Yappy Hour Howl-oween
Hermon Dog Park
We have three words for you: peanut butter lick-off. It costs $1 to enter the Hermon Dog Park festivities if you’re already a member, and $5 if not. Judges will be deciding the victors in categories like the best homemade costume and scariest costume as well as kookier categories like best profession (is your Chihuahua more of a power sliding rock star or heroic firefighter?) and best TV or movie character. There are a total of 15 different prizes and gift bags, but at this shindig, everyone’s a winner: all participants will take home a treat bag courtesy of Natural Balance Dog Food.
Howl-oween Pet Costume and Cocktail Party
Pussy & Pooch
Tickets aren’t required for this Pussy and Pooch event, but you must RSVP. Take part in a doggie costume contest, sip on cocktails, enjoy tunes spun by a DJ, and pass along complimentary treats to your ceremoniously dressed bud. There’s a small suggested donation and all proceeds go to benefit the Wags & Walks Pet Rescue, so gussy up for a fun night out in Beverly Hills and feast your eyes on decked-out dogs galore.
