Ivy was great! My nervous pup warmed up to her very quickly and easily. She took good care of the apt while I was gone, everything was clean and just as I left it upon return! I felt very comfortable leaving my pup with Ivy and I would definitely recommend her!

Sophia was absolutely wonderful! She stayed in our home with our 2 dogs and 1 cat while we were away for 10 days. She is dependable, responsible and trustworthy, she was also very easy going with all of our pets wants and needs. She sent us updates and photos regularly and was quick to respond to our messages we sent to her. Our cat and dogs were well taken care of and so very happy while we were gone. Our home was also very well taken care of, she collected our mail and took out the trash. We will be using Sophia again in the future for drop ins and in home stays.

I had an excellent experience with Crystal as both a pet and house sitter. From the start, her communication was clear, timely, and reassuring—she kept me updated regularly and was always quick to respond to any questions. It made being away from home much less stressful. Crystal proved to be incredibly reliable, showing up exactly as scheduled and following all care instructions carefully. I could tell she took her responsibilities seriously, not only ensuring my pets were well cared for but also keeping the house in great condition. I highly recommend Crystal to anyone looking for a dependable and thoughtful pet and house sitter.

Kaylee was awesome - I highly recommend her! We booked her to stay at our home while we were away and she took such great care of our two cats. She was able to give our cat his medicine without issue, and gave them plenty of play and cuddle time. She was great with updates and so we were continually reassured that our cats were in good hands! She also left our home in perfect condition. We will definitely look to book her again in the future!

I wanted to say,We had peace of mind knowing our animals were being well cared for and we could concentrate on our vacation. We could not have ask for anyone better to stay at the house and take care of our two dogs. I know it wasn’t easy with our dog Mylie’s separation anxiety but from our meet and greet to the last day pet sitting Isabel was great. She sent daily updates and photos. We will gladly recommend Isabel to all our friends and family. Thank you again Isabel 🐶

Brittney was wonderful with both our dogs and sat with my oldest dog wrapped in a blanket and played music during a thunderstorm ( he is very anxious with thunderstorms. She was also accommodating with my mom visiting the dogs regularly. I really appreciate that she was also willing to message with my mom as we were on a trip that was far away.

About: Having the background of being raised on a farm has given me an innate love for animals. I have become a go to person for my friends and family in the city with not only dogs, but farm animals as well (cows, goats, pigs, chickens, rabbits etc.). I have experience with injured and ill animals as well in care taking. I am able to follow dietary restrictions and diets in general as well. Pets, cuddles and walks are no problem of course! :) I currently work from home (Thurmont, M-F 8-5) so I am very flexible with me being in home for either a whole work day, half day or drop ins (if close by). I cannot board in home. I am able to follow the direction of your pets care. Food schedules/diets, crating, walks etc. I keep every pets area clean and tidy so they feel as comfortable as possible. I simply ask for communication ahead of time in expecations.

Debra did a great job. She sent lots of videos and pictures. Both pups loved her. It’s always tough to be so far away from our 2 dogs, but we had nothing to worry about. She also came to our house before we left on vacation so we could relax and also staying till our follow up sitter came. So we were very happy with her.

About: I have had dogs all my life. I lost my dog several years ago and while my work schedule doesnt allow me to get another dog, I miss having a dog in the house. I believe dogs are valuable members of our families who deserve the best care while their parents go away. I will provide more then just care, I will provide your dog with love, cuddles and walks while you are away. I have dealt with dogs with stranger aggression and separation anxiety so I understand the extra love and care these dogs need. I am good at sticking to routine and understand how stressful change can be for a dog. If you chose to leave your dog in my care I will strive to reduce the stress of the change. On weekends I will be home all day with your dog. During the week I am available for house sitting, but I work in a fulll time job in Carlisle, PA so the closer to Carlisle the shorter the time I am away. Being away from their home and people can be stressful so at my house we spend lots of time cuddling. If I stay at your house I try to keep things as normal for them as possible. I follow the dogs lead, doing whatever makes them most comfortable.

So I can also provide care for other pets not listed here. My 12 year old daughter and I love animals and have been rescuing and rehoming animals for years. We currently have a 7 year old golden retriever that we raised from 8 weeks old. And a 4 month old kitten we rescued and raised from 5 days old. I have completed with my dog puppy socialization and training courses. I have experience in Training, introductions, wound treatment, allergies, medication administration, exercise, pet message and bathing/grooming. I am currently a stay at home mother caring for and home schooling my 12 year old daughter so I have alot of availability and last minute availability. I have a big back unfenced in yard and screened in car port. Animals have full access to my house unless they have restrictions that would prevent that such as not allowed on furniture in clients home or eats things then they would for their safety be prevented from those areas. I am very respectful of others and following rules so if I would need to be in your home rest assured your home and fur baby would be in good hands.

FAQs for House Sitting - Zora

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 848 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Zora. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Zora walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Zora maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Zora choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Zora. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 100% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 96% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
