“Stacey was amazing! Our baby has pretty high energy and he was having a really hard time the first day but she had so much patience with him & kept working with him to make him feel more comfortable. She even did daily check ins with me. We will definitely be using her again! :)”

“Julia was great with our two little dogs-one a senior. She communicated every day, kept our house in order, and started laundry before we returned. We would recommend her with no hesitation.”

“My fur babies loved Shelly! She sent me pictures and took great care of them. My dogs are terrified of fireworks and she made sure to be there and comfort them while we were away. 10/10 would recommend!”

“Danielle was amazing! She kept us updated frequently (awesome for this anxious dog mama), and allowed our more timid fur baby time to warm up to her at his own pace. The babes were loved on and cared for while we were away, and we can’t wait to have her back!”

“We have 2 dogs. 6 month old puppy and 4 year old. Susan helped train them. She walked them and had them outside playing every day. They were treated like royalty! She’s wonderful to communicate with. You can tell she is very experienced with dogs. We felt like we won the lottery.”

“Zoe was great with our Golden Retriever! She took such great care of our girl and gave her lots of attention. Zoe also helped her feel secure during the bad storms we got a week ago. I highly recommend Zoe to care for anyone looking for reliable pet sitter!”

“Shakarra was great with our 2 dogs! They can be a lot but they loved her! She was very responsive and sent pictures. I was so grateful to have her here and take care of them!”

About: I’ve taken care of cats and dogs my entire life. I’ve always had animals in my household. Neighbors, family, and friends have always trusted me to watch their furry friends while they were away. I work part time at a school from august to may. I have plenty of time every day at home to watch and play with your animals. I have a large fenced in yard for my dogs at home. I live with parents so my dogs have multiple people to let them out and play when needed. In clients homes I let them out often and I am able to walk them and play with them frequently.

About: I’ve grown up caring for multiple dogs throughout my life, giving me hands-on experience with feeding, walking, playtime, and everyday care. I treat every dog like family and prioritize their safety and happiness. I am currently home from college for the summer. I do not have other responsibilities, so caring for your pet is my top priority. I am free every day to be able to feed, walk, and play with them. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I prioritize maintaining their everyday routine to help them feel comfortable and secure. Whether I’m providing walks, drop-in visits, or overnight care, I’ll ensure your pet receives plenty of attention, exercise, fresh water, meals, and any other care instructions you provide.
About: I've taken care of pets all of my life. From puppies all the way up to seniors. I love them all. They all need someone to care for them and feel the extra love especially when their normal family is away. I'm currently flexible and can fit pet care into my daily routine. Occasionally, I will pick up an additional job. But that shouldn't interrupt with taking care of what I love to do and that is to take care of fur babies. I would rather take care of your pets in their environment due to the fact that they are most comfortable there. I also have two fur babies of my own. But I feel as if fur babies are normally happy in their own surroundings.
“Patrick is the best. Our dog had never been without someone in the family for more than 15 minutes (!) before we called him... and Sonny didn’t freak out or even miss us at all. Patrick played fetch and sent videos and honestly Sonny loved the attention. Will definitely use Patrick again!”
“Isabella took great care of our pups and we will definitely be using her again! She let us know how they were doing and was very quick to respond to any questions we had. Highly recommend her!”

“Ava still doesn't like when we leave, but Shawna P. has done a great job making her feel as comfortable as possible. Ava still yells at us when we get home, but she is much more relaxed and happier than if she spent the time boarding at the kennel.”

About: I’ve happily taken care of dogs of any kind, inside their homes for family and friends for 10 years. I have house sat and done drop ins too. I am currently working full time but we will be home with the pups all evening. I am also able to stop in on my lunch breaks to do mid day potty breaks and some play time. On weekends my availability is much more open and I will be able to spend lots of time playing and spending time with the pups. I have 4 dogs of my own at home that I care for and love with my family. I will show the same love and care for your pets as I do with my fur babies!
“Hannah was very flexible, meet n greet, and is kind, confident, and understanding. She clearly has experience with loud and large dogs as well. I would trust her to watch the dogs again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Young
Sarah was INCREDIBLE!! Highly recommend! She was very easy to work with, sent lots of updates and photos, took amazing care of our pup, and dealt with all of his quirks without issue! She gave a daily update with walks, eating, highlights, any issues which was a very easy way to see their day in a glance. Our fridge died while she was house sitting and she was very communicative to help diagnose what happened, and even moved our food into bins in the snowy backyard. She truly went above and beyond! She left our house clean and our dog happy and tired (from all his walking and attention).

Danielle was great! We have 2 dogs. One is a senior and one just 2. The 2 year old pup had been with us only 3 weeks and had come to us with a difficult past. Danielle was so patient and willing to work with both our girls giving them each the attention and coaching they needed. We'll definitely book her again!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Young walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Young maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Young choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Young. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
