“Marie has done a wonderful job of taking care of our two Siamese cats. They can be a challenge to come to strangers but she continued to befriend them and it’s slowly working. We feel very comfortable being on vacation knowing she is watching them on her drop-in visits”

“It was difficult leaving my babies, but with Lee she reassured us and she was huge help! She followed our difficult instructions, and kept us updated with pictures and texts. Definitely be using her again.”
“Cindy was great with our Mindy girl! Cindy is very communicative and you can tell she puts her heart into the rover cards/time with your pet. Would highly recommend.”

About: I’ve owned large dogs my whole life and this struck a passion in me earlier on to get into the hobby of dog training. I got so good that people even began to ask me to help train their new puppies. Additionally, I also ran my own dog walking business throughout the last 4 years and now that I am graduated I would love to continue working with dogs while I save money for college! Currently, I am free all day every day until I start college in the spring. This leaves me with a completely open availability to help care for your beloved pets! I will follow the instructions given to me by each pet owner exactly as they would like. I treat each pup and kitty with kindness and patience always. With my dogs they are spoiled with lots of walks, treats, and lots of fetch to help them get out their energy and if your pup has some extra energy i’d love to play with them until they are content and tired out! I always make sure to message each pet owner when I arrive and when I leave to make sure they know their fur baby is in good hands!
“Atina was wonderful. She was attentive and on time. She was at ease with our dogs. Our one dog is 90 lbs and she did not have any problems. She provided updates and photos with each visit which eased our minds. I look forward to using her services in the future.”

“Debra was AMAZING! She was so thoughtful and really gave the best care to our babies. She gave us great peace of mind while we were away. We are so thankful to have found our new babysitter!🥰”

About: I have over 30 years experience taking care of dogs and will provide the love and care they need in their new "home away from home". I have a whole house generator so in case of storms, there will be no interruption in service. I am a very active individual and typically walk at least 3-5 miles per day with my little toy fox terrier. I am a nature lover and frequent the area's hiking trails and love to get out on the beach. I prepare my dog's meals using all natural ingredients (whole foods) and make a very healthy bone broth and organic barley. With parental permission I can use this as topper for your dog's kibble. I am a retired school teacher and am available year round. I am basically home all the time when I am not out on the nature trails. I would prefer sitting for dogs that weigh 30 pounds or less. Your fur baby will receive the love and attention it deserves from Caring Karen. I am a retired school teacher and when I am not out on the nature trails walking dogs, I am at home cooking or gardening. Your dog will receive lots of love and attention from Caring Karen. I have a fenced-in side yard and a gated back deck. My house is set back on a wooded lot with lots of shade. I live in a very quiet and safe neighborhood on a private road that is a dead-end. I know most of my neighbors and this is my forever home.
“I knew immediately that Tonya was going to be an outstanding pet sitter! You can just tell when someone truly has a love for animals and I got that vibe from her right away. She took great care of our senior dog and communicated with us the entire time we were away. I highly recommend Tonya and will most definitely be booking her again in the future!”

About: I've been surrounded by animals my entire life and caring for them is something I truly love. I have three cats of my own, including one with special needs, so I'm experienced with providing extra patience and medical care when needed. I also fostered for a dog rescue, where I cared for dogs of all sizes, ages, and personalities—from playful puppies to senior dogs, anxious pups to confident companions, and those with special needs. I'm comfortable administering medications and always strive to make every pet feel safe, loved, and right at home. Pet care is already a big part of my everyday life! I’m used to planning my days around the needs of my own three cats, including one who requires extra attention, and I love creating a routine where pets feel comfortable and cared for. Whether it’s walks, playtime, medication, meals, or extra cuddles, I enjoy making time for each pet’s individual needs. Caring for animals isn’t just something I do, it’s a part of my lifestyle. Whether your pet is staying with me or I’m caring for them in their own home, my goal is simple: keep them happy, comfortable, and feeling loved. I follow their normal routines, from meals and medications to walks, playtime, and cuddle time. I’m comfortable with all personalities, from confident pups to shy cats, energetic puppies to senior pets who need a little extra patience. Every pet gets personalized care, because they’re family, not just a booking.

About: Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) with a current background check, I began working in veterinary hospitals in 1982 and worked a total of ten years in this field. It was during this time that I began to pet/house sit. I took care of dogs, cats and birds and worked for several clients for 20+ years. During my time working in veterinary hospitals I learned how to administer sub-q fluids, insulin and liquid and pill medications. My immediate goal is to become a full-time dog sitter/walker which will allow me to spend thirty minutes to an hour with each dog in my care. I am a walker - I do not drive - so my focus will be on long walks and ample time spent at the dog run should the client so desire. I am very attentive, meticulous and responsible and welcome the opportunity to care for senior as well as special needs pets. Since this is my full-time job I am available seven days a week to morning, afternoon and early evening to cat sit or walk your dog. If the client has a fenced in yard I always make sure it is secure and well-lit before bringing the dog(s) outside. I only walk one dog at a time and always with a leash or harness.
About: My husband and I have had pets all our lives and absolutely love all animals! We are also experienced in giving meds of any kind, or making sure your pet is taken care of properly such as no treats, lotts of treats or whatever you may need! I own my own business so I am flexible, and able to work with yours to care for your pet! However I may be out of the house sometimes and would prefer your pet to be crate trained. I have a fenced in yard and two golden retriever pups to play with your fur baby! I can easily crate your pet if needed.

Cindy is the best. I was gone for a week and she took great care of my cat. The pictures and messages made me not worry at all. I received daily messages about my cat. She was very informative and so reliable. I will be using her again soon. She even picked up a toy for my cat. I can say I am very comfortable with her watching my cat.

Cindy was 100% reliable and communicated with us every time she stopped by. Lucy was well taken care of during our trip as evidenced by the daily photos we received. Our home was also well taken care of, We will definitely use Cindy again and would recommend her to anyone in the Calabash area.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
