After a late cancellation by our usual dog sitter for reasons beyond her control my son suggested Rover. In doing a search I found Nina who was close to us and thankfully available. We have a 4 year old German shepherd who is somewhat protective of my wife and I as well as our home; we also have a 1 year old Golden Retriever who is exceptionally shy. During the meet and greet it took all of 2 minutes for our shepherd to walk around the house licking Nina’s hand, Nina is a natural with dogs. It took a little longer for our shy little golden girl to warm up to her but it came through time and positive attention. Nina provided us with regular updates and excellent care for our beloved pups, we couldn’t ask for any more! On our return home the house was immaculate, the dogs were happy and well cared for, Nina was a star and set the bar so high that in the future we’ll be making our vacation plans around Nina’s availability! Rover provided us with a great communication platform and peace of mind for our dog’s care in our absence. Do we recommend Rover: Yes, do we recommend Nina: absolutely!!

Delen did a great job watching our dog Charlie for an entire week while we were out of town. She was responsive, thoughtful, and sent plenty of daily updates. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for dog sitting assistance.

About: I have had dogs and cats, and taken care of other small animals for my family for years. I understand the bond of families with their animals and respect that! I am retired from full time work, but do participate in volunteer activity. A part time role of caring for your pet as needed will best fit my schedule. Or providing in home care for your pet while you travel will work as well. I am happy to come and take care of your pets in your home, where they are comfortable in their own environment. I respect the pet owners preferences on how best to care for their beloved pet.

About: Everyone will say that they love dogs but not only do I love dogs but all animals. I have worked in 4 AZA accredited zoos as well as Walt Disney World. I have worked with dogs, cats, lizards, snakes, donkeys, llamas and many more animals. I am able to communicate well with people about their animals as well as recognize the body language of dogs to understand if they're feeling tired, anxious etc. I also understand the patience that comes with animals, especially dogs that may feel timid around new people, and the need to calmly wait for them to accept you. I am mainly available at night on weekends and weekdays but am available anytime during the day on Saturday and Sundays. I am energetic and can keep up with many dogs by running, playing, walking long distances and more! Pet care fits into my routine very well. I’m available any night on weekends and weekdays and am available all day on Saturdays and Sundays. While caring for pets in a clients home I am respectful of their space and treat it just like I would treat my own home.

About: I was raised on a small family farm, and have cared for goats, chickens, ducks, pigs, and more while a part of that. As a child and teenager, I trained dogs through my local 4-H program, and later on started petsitting for family friends. I've cared for puppies, senior dogs, cats, chickens, cows, pigs, goats, turtles, geese, canaries, ducks, and so many others, and I'm always willing to learn something new! I work full-time, night shifts during the week and mornings on weekends, but I'm typically only gone 8 hours max, so there's still plenty of time for me to provide plenty of care and attention to the pets! I typically stay overnight, and will either crate the pets if needed, or let them sleep with me, I wake up with them and spend my day hanging out with them, playing or just relaxing. I do my best to care for each pet as their owner would, to help minimize stress.

Nicole did an excellent job in our home for an extended stay of 13 days with our 2 dogs. She was great with daily pupdates and pictures-which were greatly appreciated because we missed our babies. She dispensed meds several times a day to our senior German Shepherd and was able to keep our very active, lovable, snuggly -yet sometimes naughty Whippet puppy busy. I knew from the minute I met her that she was a great fit for us and I’d use her every time we need someone to stay or drop in for us!

Mickey did a great job with our cat Rocky. She checked in often as we requested and included photos and videos. She also took great care in keeping our bird feeders filled as well as checking on and feeding a stray cat that we've helping. Like us it's obvious that Mickey is a true animal and nature lover. Also, as an overnighter she left our home neat and tidy. She's an ideal sitter for us and now a friend as well.

She kept us informed with lots of cute pictures and videos throughout the weekend, and was really on top of the specific needs for our senior dog.

Haley was an amazing dog sitter for my dog, Penny! From the beginning, communication was clear, friendly, and prompt. She kept me updated throughout the stay with messages and photos, which gave me so much peace of mind. She arrived on time, followed all instructions perfectly, and left everything spotless. Penny clearly loved spending time with her. I could tell she was well cared for and happy when I got back. I wouldn't hesitate to book Haley again.

About: My first formal pet sitting experience was taking out and playing with my uncle’s black lab puppy after school, my senior year of high school. Then, that same year I pet my aunt’s 2 cats in 2016. During the pandemic, for over a year, I stayed at my friend’s house while she was away at work. I would take her precious pup Lala out for walks, give Lala and her cat-sister Sophia their meds with breakfast, and treat them like the princesses they are. I recently left law school, so my availability is completely free until I find a full-time job! I would love to set your mind at ease by visiting your home as often as you’d like! I would care for my clients’ pets the same way I care for my cat-son, Remy. I give him all the attention he desires, and I do the less-than-desireable things (like washing his litterbox monthly, clipping his nails, and brushing his teeth) with a smile because I know it’s what’s best for him.

Kara did a great job taking care of our two small dogs while we went away for the weekend. She checked in on them multiple times and sent us updates. One of our dogs is recently blind so we were worried to leave him, but knowing that someone was checking in on him and giving him his eye drops + meds was a relief.

Tatyana was absolutely incredible house-sitting Doobie and Milo for a week! Doobie suffers from anxiety, so I am always extra nervous leaving him, but Tatyana completely set my mind at ease. She was incredibly patient and understanding of his needs, and she kept their normal routine perfectly. I received regular updates and photos showing both Doobie and Milo looking completely relaxed at home. I returned to happy dogs and a spotless house. I cannot recommend her enough!"

Whether your dog loves a good walk, a cozy nap, a little playtime, or simply having someone nearby, I’ll be there to give them plenty of affection and companionship. Most of all, I want you to feel comfortable knowing your furry family is being cared for with patience, kindness, and genuine love. I know how much our dogs meant to us—they truly are family. About: I have done seasonal dog walking jobs for older clients as well as drop-in visits for several of my friends and family’s cats or dogs. I am also proficient in caring for senior cats as I have rescued two from the street. My kitties are quite independent and have an auto kibble feeder and they are fed wet dinner in the evenings to support urinary health. I am always hanging out with them when in my home as it is theirs as well. I am always checking on my pets and giving them affection. I am attentive and quick to respond which makes me very observant and detail oriented. Your pet is always safe under my watch and your instructions will be followed closely. In my own home, clients’ pets have their own room.

FAQs for House Sitting - Williston

Frequently asked questions about Rover

As of September 2026, there are 564 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Williston. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Williston walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Williston maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Williston choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Williston. On Rover:

  • 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 86% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
