“Walter G. and his loving family ? were very Wonderful! Our Beagle dog “Wrangler” felt comfortable immediately at their home. Walter and his family was very understanding and caring towards him. Our dog can be very shy sometimes and yet he seemed to really warm up to the family very quickly. Inclusive, one of his little girl’s got so adorably attached, that it was so heart warming to see her shed a couple of tears ☺️ We truly highly recommend Walter G. and his family. He will most certainly be on our top list for boarding and care and we will most certainly be honored to have them take care of our boy again.”
“Alexsys is great! She is very responsive and cares a lot about the dogs she cares for. My dog was well cared for and happy when I picked her up. I will definitely be booking with Alexsys again in the future.”

“Each and every time we use JT and Janelle our dogs come home happy and stress free. They love running in the big yard and the loving care they get. Mommy and Daddy know our babies are so well cared for and loved!❤️🐾❤️🐾”

“Bella is the best. My Summit was well taken care of for the week. Daily pics and videos helped bridge that gap of separation. Highly recommend and will be using her again in the near future.”

“Barbara was one of the best hosts I’ve ever booked. She’s so kind, incredibly experienced with a variety of breeds, and has amazing intuition when it comes to meeting your pup’s needs. She sends lots of fun photos and videos and I was so comforted by the fact that I knew my darling dog was having a blast and was in great hands. I can’t wait to rebook!”

“Lori always takes good care of our monsters. They come back tired and ready for naps for all their playtime (my favorite kind of night!). She is responsive and keeps us updated on their time there.”

“Chris was excellent! He took such good care of my dog, I doubt she actually wanted to come back home with me. He followed her care instructions to the T, provided updates multiple times a day, took her out to do many activities and shared lots of pictures. I can't recommend Chris enough!”

“Chantal was great to help us out when options where running out to watch Waylon. Chantal sent us pictures of Waylon daily having a good time with her dog and a kids pool. During our time out of state we had no stress/concerns on Waylon's care. We will definitely ask Chantal to care for Waylon in the future. 5 stars for Chantal. Jason & Paula”

About: I cared for my family dog for 12 years until she passed, as well as cared for my family and friends furry animals over the years. I’m currently working full time. During the week, I can be available before 8:00am, afternoons, and after 4:30pm Monday through Friday. Weekend schedule is flexible. I’ll make sure they are safe at all times, and well taken care of. Take them on walks, feed them if needed, and play of course!

“We owe Ingrid a debt of gratitude. Over Christmas Eve, day, and after, she took loving care of our dogs who were inexplicably on their worst behavior, not their best. She’s very understanding!”

“Abby has watched our dog Rocky several times and has always done a wonderful job! Rocky is a rescue, and a terrier, and she let him take his own time getting to know her and her 2 dobie's (both great). This last time presented some unusual challenges, and Abby went above and beyond to make sure Rocky felt safe with her and that we could continue our vacation. She has always communicated well, and has been fantastic with all of her care. I would highly recommend her for your pet!! I can't say it enough. She's great.”

“Lucy and Christian did a great job of taking care of Molly for me, I especially appreciate their flexibility because I had to adjust the dates of my trip, and they had no problems accommodating that request. I got regular updates, including great pictures, and Molly seemed to be having a great time as a member of their pack. She came home tired but happy, I couldn't ask for better care while I was out of town. Thanks again, and keep up the good work!”

“Jamie was awesome and super accommodating to my fur babies! I can tell they had so much fun, they were worn out when I got them home from a 3 night stay 🤣 we will definitely be using her again in the future! Thanks Jamie!”

“We have had our dog now for a second time and we couldn’t be happier!!! Our dog has so much fun with her and enjoys a lot his stay with Michelle. She also constantly sent me updates with lots of pictures and videos! It was really a great experience booking with her so I highly recommend Michelle!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Whitacre
Sonja is such a great sitter and I am so glad I found her on Rover! My dog, Toby, has stayed with her three times now and he was so excited when we arrived at her house to drop him off! Sonja has been consistently excellent each time. She sends pictures and updates each day, communicates effectively and scheduling is always a breeze. She is really good with my high energy pup and I can tell she is experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to caring for and training dogs. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a good, reliable, caring sitter for their pet.

Sonja is amazing! This was Toby's second stay at Sonja's for the weekend. Toby has a lot of energy and Sonja is really great with him. She takes him on hikes and adventures with her pups and sends picture updates. She also has a big fenced in yard where he can run around. Sonja is very friendly, has excellent communication, and responds promptly. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a good, reliable sitter.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
Every sitter on Rover has their own routine. Depending on the arrangements you agree on before the stay, a sitter can follow your dog’s regular feeding schedule, provide a comfortable place to sleep, offer companionship, and support their usual exercise and play needs.
Depending on the sitter, their home environment, and your dog’s needs, daily exercise may include walks, outdoor play, indoor enrichment activities, or supervised play with compatible dogs. These activities are not automatically included with every booking, so ask the sitter what a typical day looks like.
During the Meet & Greet, discuss your dog’s usual exercise and play routine, whether they can safely interact with other dogs, and any activities or restrictions the sitter should follow. You can also ask the sitter to send photo and message updates during the stay so you can see how your dog is spending their time.
Preparing for drop-off is easy when you have a checklist! To help your dog settle into their Whitacre home-away-from-home, packing:
- Health and safety essentials such as their ID tags, vaccination records, medication, and emergency vet or secondary caregiver contacts.
- Food and gear such as harnesses, collars, food (portioned by day), and an item that smells like you.
- Special instructions such as a list of training cues, medical administration needs, or favorite hang-out spots in your Whitacre.
<b>Tip:</b> You can upload your dog’s routine and medical info directly onto their profile so your sitter always has the details at their fingertips.
You and your Whitacre sitter can schedule drop-off and pick-up in a way that works best for the both of you—and your dog. Most sitters offer flexible times for drop-off and pick-up but the easiest way to confirm those times will be through in-app messaging. Confirm your arrival time the day of pick-up and drop-off can also help keep the process smooth and organized.
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your dog to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your dog is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
